Story
Hewwoooo, my name is Nymeria! I am a 1 year 9 month old, spayed female, Yorkshire terrier who weighs about 9 lbs. I am a sweet and gentle little lady who can start out shy with new people. Once I get to know you, I am very affectionate and loving! I like to sniff and explore, so if you're looking for a walk buddy, I can be your girl! I'd do best with kids 6 and up, and mellow dogs. I'd like to meet any resident dogs before adoption. Please come in to meet me! Nymeria ID# A0985533Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around! To check on an animal's adoption status, please call 650-340-7022 during normal business hours to speak with an adoption counselor. Emails will be returned as soon as possible, but please allow up to 48 hours during busy adoption periods like weekends.June 13, 2026, 8:49 pm

Story
Meet Smurf, your very own smurfectly snuggly sidekick with a permanently adorable “derp” (yes, that tongue is always out, and yes, it’s as cute as you’re imagining). This sweet senior boy likes to take things slow at first and may be a little reserved, but don’t be fooled, behind that shy start is a cuddle pro just waiting to clock in. Give him a little time, soft pets, and gentle attention, and Smurf blossoms into a surprisingly outgoing, affectionate companion. He loves being close whether that’s on your lap, in your arms, wherever the snuggles are strongest. He’s great with other dogs and thrives in a calm, loving space. If you’re looking for a tiny shadow with a big heart (and even bigger blep energy), Smurf is ready to be your forever cuddle buddy!

Stern Grove is the kind of gentleman who would absolutely tip his hat if he had one. This charming pup is equal parts sweetheart and social butterfly, happily making friends with other dogs and soaking up every pet and bit of attention that comes his way. True to his “Grove” name, he brings a calm, cozy energy that makes everyone feel right at home. Stern Grove is happiest when he’s near his people, accepting affection like the distinguished little prince he is. Whether he’s trotting beside you on a walk or leaning in for extra scratches, this handsome boy knows how to plant himself firmly in your heart. Sweet, gentle, and full of charm, Stern Grove is ready to branch out into his forever home.

Story
Spunky senior Castro may look like a dust bunny gained sentience and started running around Muttville, but we can affirm that he is in fact a scruffy Yorkie and not just a ball of fluff. With a permanent blep giving his adorable face a fetching look of bewilderment, Castro bravely tackles the challenges of life. He’s in a new place? No problem, he can adapt. Lots of unfamiliar dogs? Castro looks at them as friends he hasn’t made yet. Humans that all want to give him cuddles? Yes please, he’d love some more. They say when life gives you lemons, make lemonade, but Castro only sees lemonade. Everything is awesome when you’re Castro, and he hopes some of his positivity will rub off on you.

Story
Yoko is about 3 years old and just under 9 pounds. Yoko is an absolute doll! She’s very attached to her foster mom, loves snuggles and treats and sleeping under the covers. She seems to have been very sheltered previously because every little thing is new and exciting. She’s learning to walk on grass, chase bugs and carry small sticks and leaves around gently in her mouth. She does great with her sister foster dog and wants to play with her all day long. She’s working very hard on her potty training and is good with pee pads when needed. This little lady would do best in a quiet home with a little outdoor space to soak up the sun and help someone in the garden. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Yoko is $300. If you are interested in adopting Yoko, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. Story
Meet Wesley — Wesley is a 3‑year‑old, 13‑lb Yorkie mix A perfect housemate for a quiet 1-2 person household with other fun loving dogs in the home! Wesley is crate trained, potty trained, and a total gentleman around the house. He’s incredibly affectionate and lives for snuggles — whether he’s curled up beside his foster parents or cozied up with his doggy foster sister. Wesley has glorious long hair that requires frequent brushing but guess what, he loves it. One of his most endearing quirks? He loves to sleep flat on his back, belly up, completely relaxed and trusting. A sensitive soul outdoors Wesley shines in the comfort of home, but the outside world can feel a bit overwhelming. On leash, unfamiliar people and dogs can make him nervous, and he may bark and pull on his leash. His foster family has been working on his leash reactivity, and he's improved quite a bit.   He has been going to the dog park in a quiet neighborhood and has done well. He definitely barks at the dog park fence, but takes correction in stride and will walk away. His ideal home Wesley will thrive in a calm, patient household, ideally with another friendly dog or two. Wesly takes cues from other dogs and is more confident with canine friends. He enjoys cuddles, relaxed hangouts, and gentle play. He is SLOW to warm up. He stayed with a vacation foster for 3 weeks and it took 6 days for him to warm up but once he did, it was all cuddles and love. If you can give him the time to settle in, you will be glad as the saying goes "Good things come to those who wait!" He needs a home with just one maybe two people. Wesley picks a favorite and gives 90% of his love to that lucky person. The other person, well, they get to love but not much. He’s not a match for cats — Wesley is not a fit for a home with children.   Bay Area Adoption/Fostered in the San Jose Area. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for WESLEY is $300. If you are interested in adopting WESLEY, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ .
