Story
Meet Wesley — Wesley is a 3&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 13&#226&#128&#145lb Yorkie mix A perfect housemate Wesley is crate trained, potty trained, and a total gentleman around the house. He’s incredibly affectionate and lives for snuggles — whether he’s curled up beside his foster parents or cozied up with his doggy foster sister. One of his most endearing quirks? He loves to sleep flat on his back, belly up, completely relaxed and trusting. A sensitive soul outdoors Wesley shines in the comfort of home, but the outside world can feel a bit overwhelming. On leash, unfamiliar people and dogs can make him nervous, and he may bark and pull on his leash. His foster family has been working on his leash reactivity, and he's improved quite a bit. He is not comfortable with dogs he has not had enough time to meet, so dog parks are not for Wesley. We are seeking a home in areas that are not busy bustling city streets and sounds. He'd be happiest in neighborhoods that are quiet. His ideal home Wesley will thrive in a calm, patient household, ideally with another friendly dog who enjoys cuddles, relaxed hangouts, and gentle play. He’s not a match for cats — Wesley is not a fit for a home with children. Wesley is seeking a home with an experienced owner who is familiar with leash reactivity and can help Wesley feel comfortable on neighborhood strolls. And his new home must love cuddles!   Bay Area Adoption/Fostered in the San Jose Area. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for WESLEY is $300. If you are interested in adopting WESLEY, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. See our other available dogs at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/available-dogs/ March 18, 2026, 3:03 pm

Story
Yoshi the Yorkie has a nice ring to it, and this marvelous mutt does not disappoint. Shaggy brown and black fur (likely a bit more manageable after a haircut) frames eyes that may be vision impaired but can see a bright future. Yoshi is an intrepid explorer who, even with limited vision, agilely maneuvers through his environment with ease. He assertively makes friends; in fact, this determined doggo won’t take no for an answer. If he wants to be friends, then friends you are, but who wouldn’t want to befriend this sweet super senior? The only drawback is that he doesn’t lay eggs with smaller versions of himself like his namesake, but one Yoshi is already a gift. Come snag him today! Here's some notes from his foster: Yoshi is a super endearing mellow guy. He loves to sleep in his bed all day and get occasional outside breaks and neck scratches. He is mostly blind and deaf, but does respond to loud noises. He also looks up when people are near.. He is good about mapping his surroundings so he can find his water bowl and favorite bed. Once he is settled in, he is lovable, easy going guy that will be a low maintenance beautiful companion for the right family.

Story
When you see Hermes, you may originally mistake him for a tiny lion, not a spunky senior Yorkie who needs a haircut. We can confirm that he’s 100% a good boy, with thick shaggy fur and an adorable doggy grin. This petite pup is a happy guy who is just jazzed to be at Muttville, but we think he’d be even more excited to find himself a forever home. In honor of fashion week, he’s rocking a fancy harness (although we won’t tell him it’s giving Burberry, not Hermes), and of course, Hermes himself is rocking some supermodel style. If you’re looking for a cute sidekick filled with fluff and warmth and positivity, as well as an awesome runway walk, consider some Hermes! Here's some notes from his foster: Hermes would really benefit from patient, loving humans who will go at his pace. He has spent years on the streets and is still learning how to be taken care of! At first, he was wary of being picked up. But once comfortable, and in a calm environment, he turns into a little lap dog. He would benefit most in a home where he can be around his favorite humans. Additionally, Hermes is a great eater and loves treats! He will do a little hop for a treat. He seems to be pretty potty-trained or at least he prefers to do his business outside! In the car, he will be nervous initially but will then settle into your lap. We take him on about four walks a day, and he enjoys a short run around the block for at least one of those walks! When excited, he has so much energy that you would be surprised he's 11! He also enjoys running up and the hallways. He truly is the sweetest pup.

Story
You might think you’ve stumbled upon Toto, who is a long way from Kansas, but this adorable little Yorkie is actually called Lantern! Aptly named, as he will guide you through life in the search of good fortune, despite being a bit vision impaired himself. Lantern gets around surprisingly well for a senior sweetheart with limited vision, proving that you don’t need eyes to follow your heart. No teeth? No problem – Lantern has adapted easily to life with a perpetually lolling tongue and still attacks treats with gusto. While he might look like a teddy bear, Lantern is really an inspiration to let nothing stop you from following your dreams. If you’re feeling a little lost, why not let Lantern guide you home? Here's some notes from his foster: Meet Lantern: The Distinguished ""Prance-Master"" Lantern is an 11-year-old Yorkie who has spent his time in foster care proving that age is just a number and a tote bag is the best way to travel. He is a ""plug-and-play"" companion who is ready to bring his quiet, spunky energy to a forever home. Lantern is a one-of-a-kind companion. Watching his happy tail-nub wiggle and him prance on the grass with excitement is the highlight of my day. If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, charismatic senior who will eventually roll over for a belly rub once he trusts you, Lantern is your guy. Why You’ll Fall for Him: The ""Boy’s Boy"": While he loves everyone, Lantern has a special soft spot for men. He’s not a ""velcro"" dog who will trip you up, but he’s incredibly loyal and loves to be in the same room as his favorite guy. The Tote-and-Go Life: Lantern is the ultimate errand buddy. He is shockingly chill in a carrier bag and loves taking in the world from the safety of your shoulder. A Clean Gentleman: He is very easy in the bath! He even handles sink-side paw washes like a pro (perfect for after his ""victory kicks"" in the dirt). Bonus: He’s a very low-shedder! House Manners: He is fully house-trained, follows a schedule beautifully, and is a professional-level sleeper in his crate at night. Lantern's ""Must-Haves"" for a Happy Life: A Single-Level Sanctuary: Because of his vision and age, stairs are Lantern's kryptonite. He needs a home that’s flat or a human who is happy to give him a lift. An Only-Child Home: Alfie is working through some ""leash talk"" (reactivity) toward other dogs. Because he’s losing his sight, the world can be startling. He feels safest and most confident as the only pet in the house. A Patient Advocate: He is extremely food-motivated (he’ll do almost anything for a treat!). He needs a human who can be his ""eyes"" on walks, using positive reinforcement to let him know he’s safe when other dogs pass by. A Calm Routine: Occasionally, Alfie gets a little ""lost"" or confused in the evenings (sunsetting). A predictable routine and a gentle hand help him find his way back to his confident self.
