Story
He’s a good dog overall with a lot of love to give, but he does have some behaviors that require the right home. He can be reactive toward other animals and may bark or show aggression, and while he may initially bark at new people, he tends to warm up quickly once properly introduced. He isn’t comfortable around children or high-energy environments. I am at least his second home, so his exact age is unknown, though vets estimate he is between 3–6 years old. He is potty trained, eager to please, and very affectionate with his primary caregiver—he even “smiles,” which is one of his sweetest traits. He doesn’t play with toys and prefers canned food or softened dry food. He enjoys short walks and car rides. He can become possessive or aggressive with bones or long-lasting treats, so those should be avoided. He would do best in a calm, low-activity home with a single person or an older couple, no other pets or children, and someone who can give him plenty of patience and love.

Story
It is with a heavy heart that I am seeking a loving new home for my 8-year-old Yorkshire Terrier. He is a loyal, affectionate companion who enjoys relaxing, short walks, and staying close to his person. As he has gotten older, he thrives in a calm environment with consistent attention and routine. Due to an increasingly demanding schedule, I’m no longer able to provide the level of care and presence he needs, especially as he enters his senior years. This decision has been incredibly difficult, and my priority is finding a home where he will be loved and well cared for. He would do best with someone who is home often, such as a retiree or remote worker. I’m happy to share more details with serious inquiries to ensure the right match.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Kahlyxa and her 3 siblings found themselves dumped, unwanted and in a high kill shelter in West Texas. They are good with other dogs, and people, but cats are unknown. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training to be successful. This little scruffy ball of cuteness is ready to be your lap dog. She loves to snuggle and be by your side. She sleeps right through the night and loves to play in the morning. She is great on a leash and does not pull. She gets along with other dogs if there is a slow intro - she can be shy at first but then warms up. She has never met cats. She is still working on potty training but does her business right away when you take her outside on her leash. Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 10, 2026, 10:28 pm

They are good with other dogs, and people, but cats are unknown. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training to be successful. We are working on making her feel comfortable with strangers.   She loves to play - like chasing balls in the backyard and often brings it back to you.  When she is tired, she loves to snuggle.  Dogs: she is fearful of dogs, but we are in the process of getting her out to meet other dogs on a regular basis.  Cats are unknown.  She will quietly lay on her bed while you work on your computer and is a sweetheart. First priority will go to someone who lives in the twin cities metro in order to bring to a vetting appointment near the end of May.  Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 10, 2026, 10:28 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Marlon, a 2-year-old Yorkie with a tender heart, a playful spirit, and the cutest little personality that’s just waiting to fully bloom. Marlon is a very sweet boy who truly loves being close to his person. He’s the kind of dog who will quietly follow you around, always wanting to be near, and happily soak up pets and cuddles once he feels safe. While he can be a bit skittish at first, it’s clear how much he wants to trust—and with a little patience, his affectionate and goofy side starts to shine. And when it comes to food… Marlon is all in. His absolute favorite thing! At mealtime, he’ll hop around on his hind legs trying to be first in line—it’s as adorable as it sounds and guaranteed to make you smile every single day. Marlon enjoys the company of other dogs and really comes to life around them. He loves to play chase with his foster siblings and almost always chooses to sleep cuddled up right next to them. Because of this, he would absolutely thrive in a home with another playful, confident dog to help show him the ropes and build his confidence. That said, if his people are home often and able to provide lots of reassurance and companionship, he could also do well as an only dog. He’s a smart little guy who is already picking up on commands like “come” and “go potty,” and he’s continuing to learn more every day. He’s working on crate training and getting more comfortable with it, so he’ll need a home willing to continue supporting him as he builds confidence. Marlon can be startled by loud or sudden noises and may scatter if something unexpected happens, so a calmer home environment will help him feel safe and secure. Despite his timid moments, he has a gentle, loving nature and a quiet curiosity about the world (including keeping an eye on the Mastiff across the street!). He has a soft, sweet soul and will make a deeply loyal companion for someone who understands that the best things—like trust—take a little time. With patience, love, and a steady routine, Marlon will reward you with affection, playful moments, and the kind of bond that only a sensitive, special dog can give. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Ripley is a senior Yorkie with the sweetest little old-man heart. He is gentle, quiet, and easy to love — the kind of dog who is simply happy to have a warm home, a soft blanket, and kind people nearby. He enjoys exploring at his own pace, lounging on the couch, and taking peaceful afternoon naps tucked into something fuzzy. Ripley is blind, so he appreciates a calm, thoughtful home where people move gently around him and talk to him before picking him up. Loud noises and abrupt movements can startle him, but with patience and reassurance, he settles in and makes wonderful company. He may be shy at first, especially after all he has been through, but he warms up beautifully when given time and kindness. Outside, Ripley loves to wander, sniff, and take in all the smells, so he would be happiest with a secure fenced yard where he can safely explore. He gets along perfectly with other friendly dogs, but he could also do well as an only dog if his people are home most of the time. He has not shown much interest in toys, but he is a big fan of soft treats and cozy couch time. Ripley is affectionate, well-mannered, gentle, and sweet in the quietest way. He does not ask for much — just a safe place to land, a patient family to love him, and a soft blanket to call his own. Story
Some dogs are able to recover from neglect or abuse faster than others…..if only they could tell us about those early years of their life. Cody is a 3.5 yr old. 13# male Shih Tzu/maltese former breeder dog that is still in the process of his recovery, and is hoping someone with patience and previous dog experience is able to take him and continue working with him. Another small, playful dog and a secure fenced yard are also requirements to help him be successful. Cody would not be suited to a family with children of any age because of his fears of new people, loud noises, and fast movements. He has been in his foster home for quite a while – he trusts his foster mom, and is relaxed and seeks attention from her, but transitioning into a new home could be like starting all over again. Let me tell you more about him. His foster mom is retired, and home with him most of the time. Cody prefers to approach her for cuddle time when she is sitting or laying down, instead of towering over him. He comes to her when she calls him inside the house, but doesn’t have recall when he is out in the yard, so he is either contained in a kennel area when out, or drags a long leash around in his fenced area so you can use that instead of grabbing at him when he’s out. If someone scares or forces him, or raises their voice, it takes quite a while for him to forgive you. He tolerates meeting new people, but is more fearful of men and might try to hide from them. His foster home has a doggie door that he has learned to use, but his new home might not; Cody is willing to go out into the cold for a short time, so you will need to establish a schedule that works for him, and have a potty pad down for emergencies. His meals are dry food soaked in water for 5 minutes – he can be reluctant to eat, and acts like he is watching for new people to approach. Cody is most comfortable around the resident dogs, and loves to run and play with them. The other dog/dogs in the home should be tolerant, playful, be good pack leaders and “show him the ropes”. Cody rides OK in the car, in a crate. In warmer weather, he has been taken on short walks – doesn’t understand the purpose of a walk when there is a perfectly wonderful fenced yard to run around in. Cody has a loud bark, so best suited to single-family home instead of a building that shares a wall with another family. Cody is neutered, and current on vaccinations. The heartworm test and tick profile are all negative. He requires grooming about every 3 months. If you have questions, or would like to adopt Cody, call 651-771-5662. His adoption fee is $300 .
