Story
Meatloaf... its whats for DINNER!!! I will take a side of mashed taters and some GRAVY too :) I am actually the puppy, formerly known as HAMBURGER, but mixed with some love, spice and a little ketchup and turned into THIS BIG HUNKA LOVE!! (with a side of cute and silly too) I have a big heart and a big personality too. I want to be someone's really really good friend, and guess what?? I am even BETTER on the second day! Put a slice of Meatloaf between two slices of bread with more ketchup and you are feasting again for lunch! Anyway, enuff about food.. I am seriously getting hungry! The kind of hunger that can only be satisfied with a REAL FAMILY like yours! I am sweet and happy, I am goofy and happy and I am squishy and happy too! So if you have not figured it out yet... I AM HAPPY!!! I am pretty good with other dogs, I can share... if I have to!! I am kind of a couch potato, if you are into napping I am down with that. I can hike and do active stuff too, if you are into that. But just like after eating a big meatloaf sandwich, the best thing to do is to take a nap :) So look me up, here are my stats- I am lovely, and a solid 72#. I was treated for heartworms and am one big hunk-o-love ready for you :):) Be the bread to my Meatloaf!! ADOPT ME!!!! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/GDR/Dog Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
It's a pleasure to meet you, my name is Walter! I like to greet people the old fashioned way, a tip of the nose, a meeting of the eyes, and a formal introduction of who I am. I've always kind of been an old-soul, at least that's what people tell me, with my wrinkled fur and gentle eyes. As an older gentleman I tend to have a bit more patience than these young whippersnapper pups. You'll find me waddling around quite slowly but my tail still wagging none the less! I have been known to snap when nervous, but I have come so far and I just need a little time and patience. Cause I just so want to be your big goofy friend! I have a soft and squishy face to go along with my squishy personality! I am great with my people and great with other dogs too. I am shy at the very first but am on the fast track to love! As a senior dog there's really only one thing I care about ... TREATS ... just kidding, it's being close to others. Being close to others helps remind me that I am here and my story is still being written with infinite possibilities. Perhaps you and I could write the next chapter together? Story
Meet Turbo I was searching for a cheesy pick up line to use, but cheesy pickup lines, do not actually contain cheese....how do the human says....ironical. My name is ironical too, they call me Turbo but I cannot go turbo speed. When I was at the city shelter they took a video of me nudging my pink leopard print blankets around to make a little nest. From this video you could determine that my back legs did not seem to be opawrating at 100%. They thought, easy peasy pumpkin spice squeezy, he probably just needs FHO surgery and he will be good as new. Wrong. Before being taken to animal control, I must have endured a trauma to my head. This left me with some neurogoggleical, newrologsiscal, neurological challenges. I can walk and romp like the best of 'em, until finally my back legs just kinda give up and refuse to agree with me. Navigating steps and stairs is a big whoa, but with a little guidance, I can do some low steps. I need a one story house without a lot of stairs. Or a home with no stairs at all would be really ideal! The volunteers ordered me some socks to walk on smooth floors, I prefer carpet but I can manage both. I love everyone I meet. But due to my head trauma I appear cross eyed and have limited vision. In order to recognize a dog or a people, I have to get right up in their biz and sniff them. Some dogs find this action annoying but I can't help it, when your eyes don't work, you gotta use your snoozle. Therefur, I need a home with dogs and people that don't mind my personal space invasions. I am a space invader??? I thought I was a Pitbull??? My physical challenges make for some really comical moments. When you holler my name, I come running full-ish speed. My brakes don't work. I usually make a Seinfeld Kramer style entrance. I love to hear my name and be loved on, my run might be silly, but I feel like a white knight galloping in on a fierce stallion. You just have to use your imagination. The hope is that with lots of practice, my legs will get stronger and more coordinated. I need a home that understands that I might not ever be able to climb mount Kilimanjaro or even a mole hill. The nice thing about me is that I am quiet, don't bark, and never react poorly to any dogs or people, except for nipping a finger or two when taking treats, because my aim is off and dang it, I am just excited about the weenie. I can't see the weenie, but I can smell the weenie, so I just go for it. And in all honesty, finger tips and weenies are the exact same color. Sawry! I need an adopter or foster than won't mind helping a guy up into the vehicle or onto the couch. Remember, I can't navigate too many ups and downs, so flat grippy surfaces are best. I am voice activated and will follow you to the ends of the earth if you talk to me, whelp, maybe not the ends of the earth, but at least from the bedroom to the kitchen for a weenie. Do you want to be my friend? Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
If wounds could talk, they sure would have a story to tell for this guy. Django was found as a stray covered in wounds, scrapes and old injuries. The best guess was that he was recently hit by a car. Since rescue it was also identified that he was HW positive and had worms. No such thing as easy street for this boy! Over the past few weeks his external wounds are healing, his worms have been addressed and he successfully underwent treatment for the HW. At only 4 years old and 43#, this bully mix deserves a second chance at a great life! Django is pocket sized with those short little legs, is very mild mannered and loves affection. He is neutured, microchipped, appears housebroken and is working on crate training. Django shares his foster home with 2 other dogs, and while he has no issues with them, he prefers cuddles from the human. He is also cat friendly. If interested in meeting Django, he will be patiently waiting in Carlisle PA. Story
Male, approx. 1 year old, 75 lbs. Personality: goofy/funny, calm, rambunctious, adaptable, adventurous, quiet, snuggler, smart, affectionate, trustworthy, eager-to-please, easygoing, mischievous, playful, energetic, and loyal. Meet Cowboy (fka Guava), your new best friend! He's an affectionate boy looking for a forever home to share his boundless love and joyful energy. He is loyal, goofy, and intelligent, and has mastered essential words like sit, stay, touch, paw, and down. And he's not just book smart! Cowboy loves cuddles yet has the emotional intelligence to respect personal space. An ideal day with Cowboy includes a long morning stroll full of sniffs, followed by breakfast, playing with toys, napping, snuggling, and a peaceful night's sleep in his beloved crate. Quiet, house-trained, and well-behaved, this people-pleaser would do equally well in an apartment or a large home. Cowboy is friends with cats and is also generally good with other dogs while off-leash, which means fun pup play dates! His fosters report that training him is so much fun because he just wants to be the best boy, and his happiness at being a good boy is contagious. Cowboy has made great progress on his manners when meeting other dogs while out on walks, and he is learning not to jump up with joy when meeting someone new. Are you looking for a dog who provides affectionate, loyal companionship and playful energy that will fill your home with happiness? Cowboy is waiting for you: apply today! For more fun pics and information, follow Cowboy (fka Guava) on Instagram: @tellyourfuturedogisaidhi ___________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.

Courtesy post for Roxy Introducing Roxy: A Bundle of Joy Eagerly Awaiting a Loving Home! Meet the delightful Roxy, a spirited and affectionate 1-year old boxer girl who is on the brink of finding her forever family! Roxy's journey began when I, alongside the dedicated efforts of Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue Inc and other compassionate souls, rescued her from the bustling streets of Baltimore. Roxy embodies the quintessential boxer puppy spirit – brimming with boundless energy and an insatiable curiosity about the world around her. While she's already shown an earnest eagerness to learn, Roxy, like any pup her age, is looking forward to engaging in focused training to refine her exuberant nature. She has a heart of gold and adores my two-year-old son, adjusting her exuberance when in his company. Nevertheless, a bit more training will ensure that her affectionate leaps of joy are channeled into more controlled interactions, especially around little ones. In the realm of doggy companions, Roxy's interactions have revealed a preference for male counterparts over females. As such, I recommend considering her as the sole canine companion or potentially pairing her with a male dog of similar size. Her play style exudes enthusiasm rather than aggression, making her an excellent playmate for an equally spirited friend. A fenced yard would be a wonderful match for her energy levels, though her progress with the "come" command indicates she's becoming quite the recall expert. It's worth mentioning that Roxy proudly carries her boxer heritage with an undocked tail, a unique feature that adds to her charm. This hasn't posed any issues, and she wears her tail as a testament to her individuality. Her compatibility with cats and other animals remains unknown at present, requiring further exploration. Additionally, Roxy's past experiences have shaped her interactions with men. She warms up cautiously, but once trust is established, her heartwarming personality shines through. Instances like her initial barking at my husband and a dog trainer’s husband were brief moments of uncertainty that quickly gave way to genuine acceptance. These instances highlight the need for a patient and experienced owner who can nurture her comfort and confidence. In the near future, Roxy will undergo the spaying procedure, marking an important step towards her journey to finding a loving home. She will be available for adoption through Sanctuary Acres Boxer Rescue, and their website is the portal through which you can express your interest. Although currently located in western Loudoun County, Virginia, don't let distance deter you; reasonable transport options can be arranged for the perfect match. If you're ready to welcome a spirited and endearing boxer into your life, Roxy could be the perfect addition to your family. Her story, resilience, and joyful energy are waiting to light up a forever home. Apply to make Roxy a cherished part of your life and embark on a journey filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. ***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home. But, we still want to help those dogs (and cats) on their journey! By courtesy posting, AAHA is offering our website/network as an additional resource to help an owner or shelter gain additional exposure for the dog they are trying to place. AAHA has not met nor evaluated the dog (or cat) we are courtesy posting. AAHA makes no representation about courtesy posted pets including the health and temperament and accepts no liability in this exchange. Arrangements for adoptions are made between the caretaker of the pet and the potential adopter.February 20, 2024, 12:00 pm
