Story
Tank is a 1 year and 10-month-old Miniature American Pit Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier mix. He’s very friendly, playful, and gets along great with other dogs. He’s a small/medium sized dog (short but stocky) and weighs about 50lbs. He’s both potty trained and house trained, and overall a very sweet and affectionate dog. We got him from a dog breeder, but we were never able to get his registration papers and don’t have official vaccination records. Sadly, I recently got a new job that will keep me away from home for long hours, and I won’t be able to be there to feed him or take him out when needed. I’m looking for a loving, responsible home that can give Tank the attention, care, and time he deserves. He would do great in a home where he can be active, loved, and part of the family.

Story
Meet XANDER (GREAT WALKER) Xander is new to the shelter, but volunteers love him. He's a great walking partner and super friendly. Xander is neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm tested. Be sure to check out our Facebook page at Wyandotte Animal Shelter (https://www.facebook.com/wacshelter/) for day to day updates on our cats and dogs. :) Thank you for your interest in adopting! If you do not see this email appear upon submission, please check your "spam" folder. 3. Your application will be processed and a volunteer will call or email with any questions. NOTE: If any questions are left unanswered or incomplete, the application would not be processed. A completely filled out application will take 1-3 days to process! 4. We will set up a time with you to meet the animal you've applied to adopt! ** We DO give preference to applicants with verifiable dog experience (as a primary caretaker). All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm negative unless otherwise indicated. All are up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and current on heartworm prevention! Additional questions... Does this dog get along with cats? There is almost always an acclimation period when a new pet joins the household. We are happy to suggest a few ways to ease the transition. If one of our dogs is reported to have lived with cats previously, that will be indicated in the dog's description! Does this dog react well to other dogs? No dog loves every other dog, just as humans do not like every other human they meet. A proper introduction (meet and greet) would be required as part of our application process. Is this dog good with children? The better question is how the children have been taught to handle animals. A dog will respond negatively if he/she is not being handled properly. We can offer suggestions on how to teach children to interact with dogs and pay attention to body language. Young children should never be left unsupervised with new dogs. How did this dog end up in a shelter? The top reasons dogs are given up are: Moving without considering the needs of the pets Death of the owner with no plan in place for the pets Previous owner did not provide appropriate training Owner did not consider the lifespan of a dog Owner did not consider the cost of providing for a dog

A gentle boy who loves to exercise. He would be great with a home who loves interactive play outdoors. Hiking, boating or jogs in the neighborhood followed by naps on the couch. Watson was found homeless with no evidence he belonged to someone looking for him. He was unneutered and untagged. He is clearly great with people and so happy to see other dogs. Video of him can be seen on our Facebook page here and

Story
Tank was rescued when his previous owner was unable to provide a safe life for him. That was a lucky break for Tank. The shelter had him heartworm tested while he was neutered and discovered he is suffering from heartworm disease due to being denied routine prevention. Tank will now require a several month long treatment once it's determined he is healthy enough to undergo the injections. Thankfully, Pound Pals Downriver has stepped up to help this young dog get his health back. He's an energetic and playful 3 year old pup who seems to do well with other dogs. Story
Jackson is 2-3 years old and weighs approximately 70 lbs. He is crate trained, housebroken and currently learning to walk on a leash. He came to us after being hit by a car, but after hip and shoulder surgery, he is healed up 100% and enjoys being active. He also loves a good afternoon nap. Jackson is very friendly and loves being with his people. He has been around cats but has not been introduced to any dogs yet, although he gets happy and excited when the neighbor dogs come out. Sometimes he'll even sit by the fence waiting for them to come out and &#194&#147play&#194&#148 Jackson still exhibits a few puppy behaviors so having toys to chew and play with will be good for him. He's not opposed to a slipper or loose sock here and there ? He is a really funny dog. He will do best in a home with older kids or just adults as closing all doors and gates is a must. If inadvertently given the opportunity to go on an adventure, he'll use that open door or gate and have a night on the town! He is neutered now so that may subside somewhat. We are working on not jumping and general manners but Jackson is a really happy and friendly guy who will make a fun addition to the family.**All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $50 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion. Please visit our website at sheltertohome.com for information on our adoption process.**April 29, 2025, 10:48 pm
