Story
Meet Louie! Fostered in Mount Laurel, NJ Could this sweet face be the missing piece to your family? Meet Louie, an adorable 3-4 month-old mixed breed puppy with the gentlest soul you'll ever meet! He has the perfect mix of playful puppy and mellow cuddle buddy.  He was found as a stray in SC so we don't know his mix but best guess is a Boxer mix   Louie is the kind of puppy everyone falls in love with. Everywhere he goes, people can't stop talking about what a good boy he is! He is calm, affectionate, and happiest when he's simply by your side. Whether he's snoozing on the couch , lounging on the porch at your feet , or joining you for a nice walk ‍, Louie is just happy to be with his people. Louie Loves: Kids of all ages Other dogs Adults, men, women & seniors Belly rubs and head scratches Snuggling on the couch Car rides Going for walks (he's wonderful on leash!) Chewing on bully sticks and antlers Relaxing outside in the sunshine This handsome little guy is already impressing everyone with his manners! Almost completely house trained (he even rings a bell to go outside! ) Holds it all night Walks beautifully on a harness without pulling Excellent passenger in the car Hardly ever barks No resource guarding Gets along great with other dogs Knows "Sit," comes when called, and runs to the door when you say "Outside!" Louie has a mellow personality that's hard to find in such a young puppy. He'll happily zoom around for a few minutes, then curl up for a cozy nap. He's truly a little couch potato with just enough playful puppy energy to keep life fun! The only thing that makes Louie nervous is loud noises. When he gets scared, he simply comes close for comfort and reassurance. He never shows any aggression—he just wants to feel safe with the people he loves. Louie's Perfect Home Another dog is welcome but not required  Great with young children Apartment or condo friendly A fenced yard is not necessary—he'd much rather enjoy neighborhood walks and relax beside you outside. Someone looking for a loyal best friend and cuddle buddy Louie is: Up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines Microchipped A neuter deposit will be required as part of the adoption process. Available for adoption throughout New Jersey and the surrounding area. If you're looking for a sweet, gentle, easygoing puppy who will happily steal your heart (and your spot on the couch ), Louie is waiting to meet you! Story
**$80 in pledges for the rescue that pulls** Bart ACCT-A-251766 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Bart must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by TUESDAY, JUNE 30TH at 10AM. Should Bart's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Bart came to the shelter as a stray on June 1st and has been charming everyone he meets ever since. Approximately 1 year old, he arrived friendly, open-hearted, and eager for connection. He is a high-energy, joyful, and deeply affectionate dog who needs an active home that can keep up with him. He would do best with daily opportunities to run, play, and burn off his enthusiasm. Staff and volunteers consistently describe him as cuddly, wiggly, and highly handler-oriented. He genuinely seeks out closeness and engagement with his person and brings a lot of fun energy to every interaction. He can be strong and enthusiastic on leash and often pulls toward excitement. A harness is recommended, but he is responsive, redirectable, and eager to stay engaged with his handler. With other dogs, he is excited and interested but can be very forward and pushy in his greetings due to his high enthusiasm. If going to a home with another dog, he will need slow, structured introductions and ongoing management. With the right home that can match his energy and continue building on his dog social skills, Bart has all the makings of a fun, affectionate, and deeply connected companion. Due to his length of stay, Bart is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter. Moderate issues on leash. Mild leash biting, easily redirected. Good boy. Per staff 6/20: High energy. Good dog meet. Mild issues on leash, mildly jumpy. Grabs leash to walk, not a leash biter just pulls to walk forward. Very playful! Per staff 6/20: Mild-moderate issues on leash. Per staff 6/16: Mild-moderate issues on leash. Very good, much better. Per volunteer 6/15: High energy. Mild issues on leash, mildly jumpy. Good meet with Koda — vocal but playful. Pulls on leash, eager to get out. Very playful and listens well — handler oriented. Loves pets and snuggles. Per staff 6/15: Very good boy — playful. Easy to handle. Per staff 6/13: Medium energy. Good on walk and on leash. Per volunteer 6/12: I took Bart out. He was easy to leash & walk. In the yard he just wanted to hang out with me and be pet. He is very friendly & affectionate. Per staff 6/11: Kennel Presentation: Quiet and bouncy, soft eyes, loose body, tongue hanging out. At the front, some gentle jumping on the gate. Appeared eager to come out! Leash Skills: Can pull hard at times, darting hard at the end of the leash and straining to go in certain directions. Sociability: He was spinning, running, zooming and jumping when loose in the pen! Ears back, loose wiggly body. I sat on a bench and he jumped on my lap for cuddles, burrowed his head into my chest for next rubs. Tongue hanging loosely, squinty eyes, low fluid tail wags. Highly social, sought constant contact with me. Play: Ran after a tossed toy, then ignored. For play he would run and pounce off me, then run away and repeat. Dog Interaction: Vocal at the fence, prey bows, disengaged on his own. On leash, tried to go vertical and over the head of the other dog immediately, with continued interaction, showed some teeth and then did a loud air snap. Decided to walk along after that. Sniffed other dog when rear was accessible, rest of walk was uneventful. Good and bad elements to the dog meet. Return to Kennel: Easy Color Level: Remain blue Recommendations and considerations: High energy, needs to run daily, tons of fun! If other dog in the home be prepared to do a very slow and incremental introduction with lots of management like crates, baby gates, paralleled walks, etc. may take time to fully integrate Per volunteer 6/10: Very excited and playful boy. When I approached his crate in the isolation room, he was very loose and wiggly and very excited to go out! Easily leashed him, and he pulled very hard the whole way out of the shelter. I would recommend a harness. In the play yard he was super playful and loves to romp around. He also has a very cuddly side to him and got right in my lap for pets. He doesn’t seem overly interested in toys and he’s pretty treat motivated but not overly interested. Very wiggly body meeting other dogs through the fence and sometimes vocal also. Very sweet and playful young pup! Very easily went back into his kennel and no issues unleashing. Per staff 6/7: Kennel Presentation: Laying on his bed when I approached, slowly came forward, ears to the side, low tail, ate the food I tossed into his kennel. Leash Skills: Tried to push out of kennel at first, stopped and backed up after a second and then was able to easily leash. Once leashed came right out and pulled moderately on leash, tail low, ears back. Sociability: Not eating outside. When handling, tail low, ears back, panting. Shook off when I stopped handling and moved away. Dog Interaction: Met Theodore, pulled very strongly towards him, ears back, mid to high tail. Stiff and hackles raised when face to face. Pulled very strongly towards him as he left, was still pulling hard towards him when he was out of view, not eating food, mid tail wags, hackles raised, ears forward. Switched to a harness, when in the yard did not approach Theodore. When Theodore sniffed, he would turn around and sniff, snapped and hard barked when Theodore put a paw on him. Return to Kennel: Walked back loose leash, hopped right into kennel and leash was removed easily. Color Level: Blue Per staff 6/5: Low energy. Excited to go out, but still calm. Wanted to run towards someone walking through yard. Per finder 6/1: Barks at children and other animals. Walks fine on leash. Friendly, scared, playful. Barks at people and other animals from afar. - Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Story
Bella is an adorable petite bunny-eared girl weighing just 42 pounds who is a sweet, wiggly, and shy lady, Bella doesn’t ask for much; she loves the simple things like hanging out with her family and going on walks. Bella has a reserved yet affectionate demeanor. Adopted in 2022 after being turned in to ACCTPhilly as a stray, Bella spent several happy years with her owner until they surrendered her back to the ACCT Philly in February 2026. When her second stay there became too long and with dozens of dogs entering the shelter daily, Bella was Timestamped. Fortunately, we were able to pull her and she is now blossoming in her foster home! Bella does have a noted history of resource guarding dating back to her original shelter stay, but with proper management and separation for meals and fun chews, she has shown she is completely capable of living with another dog and she has a history of being okay with cats. With her behavioral needs in mind, Bella requires a loving household that is equipped to manage her resource guarding, and ensure that any food or high-value items are given under supervision and while Bella is separated from any other resident pets. With additional training and proper management of her known behavioral needs, Bella is sure to bring light, love, and joy to her new family. Bella loves cuddles, loves going for walks and walks well on leash, loves to talk to her people using grunts and groans. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tank is a 3-year-old, slightly under 40 lbs, boxer mix that was found as a stray during his initial stay at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter. His original owners reclaimed him only to return him and his littermate at a later date for reasons not related to Tank. He was then adopted a second time just a few days later, only to be returned due to “guarding his food bowl from their five resident cats”.   When Tank was at the shelter, he shook terribly and would hide in the outer parts of the kennel, hardly being noticed and full of fear and stress. His chances were very slim, so he was pulled by his volunteer buddy.   Tank was pulled into a loving foster home in November 19, and has had time to decompress and shine! He has shown zero guarding concerns towards foster, and is respectful towards small critters (ferrets and guinea pigs in the home). They are not loose in his presence, but he goes over to their habitats, is friendly and respectful of them, and wags his tail.    Tank is not housebroken; he is working hard at it and has improved, but even the vet believes it is 2 and a half years of learned behavior, where he was never taught, so now we are breaking old habits that are instilled in him. He wears washable belly bands that work as diapers for his urine as needed, or when home we just frequently observe and let him out to potty.    Tank is dog selective, and lived in a home with cats prior. However, must go to a home that is savvy and can allow safe separation for cats and eating times. Tank is very kid friendly to respectful children, and does well with women and men. He walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and has learned commands such as “kennel up”, sit and shake. Tank is a complete LOVER, loves to be wrapped up under a blanket laying with his family. If you want a snuggler, Tank is 100% down for that!!    He loves he benebones, cheek rolls and toys so very much, and although he loves the big back yard so much, he prefers hanging out inside, snuggling to watch a show, and chewing a bone with his friends. He gets the zoomies, loves fetch and then is ready to come inside. As a very anxious pup, Tank has overcome so much at such a young age, and his foster family will foster him for as long as it takes to find him his PERFECT match!!    Now with SJR as of late March, we are looking for someone who either works from home, is retired or simply home more times than not, in a quiet home. Tank loves companionship!! He also will thrive with a family who can continually take him out to potty and be understanding and patient. He is a certified foodie, loves snacks and thrives on structure and routine.    He needs a family that will love him unconditionally and not give up on him. Tank really is a genuine sweetheart and loves all of the friends we introduce him to!!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 28, 2026, 1:21 pm
