Story
This story truly tugs at our heartstrings . Sweet Rocky was adopted from the Greenville shelter, but his journey has been anything but smooth. His previous owner claimed he was too big and soon after, Rocky was found abandoned in a local dumping ground . Instead of returning him to the shelter, they left him to fend for himself. Tragically, he was attacked by other abandoned dogs. Thankfully, a kind-hearted Samaritan saw him and took him to the shelter. Rocky was in terrible shape, all beaten up and scared. Before a rescue could be arranged, his previous owners adopted him again, unsure if they would keep him. Sadly, they returned him once more because their fence wasn’t secure and they kept him outside. Rocky had only a few hours left before being scheduled for euthanasia when our rescue found a foster for him. She adored him, but due to a family emergency, she can no longer care for him. Rocky is just 1.5 years old and weighs about 90 lbs. He is nearly perfect! He gets along well with  children, and other dogs. He is gentle, sweet, and craves affection. His foster mentioned that whenever she coughed, Rocky would come running to check on her. He doesn’t like being alone but doesn’t destroy anything. He’s a true velcro dog, always wanting to be close to his humans. Rocky can’t wait to find his forever home or be loved by a foster until he meets his forever family! Let’s help Rocky find the loving home he deserves! Applications to foster or adopt are at codysfriendsrescue.org Breed: Anatolian Shepherd/Mixed Breed Color: White and Brown Size: Large Heartworm: Negative Good With Dogs? Yes Good With Cats? Yes Good With Children? Yes Comments: Rocky has once again returned to us, just as sweet! He deserves a loving forever home. He is perfect with every animal except for chickens. ##2162079##

Story
Meet Louie! He is a medium sized Anatole Shephard mix weighing 45lbs.     He came to the rescue group after his family was no longer able to take care of him. He has settled into his foster home, but is still working on refining his basic manners.     Louie is completely house trained, crate trained, stays off furniture and is highly food motivated. Louie loves to play with both his human friends and his dog friends. He is very loyal and has some typical shepherd attributes.  Louie came from a home with 5 other dogs and he currently has a foster sibling. He is looking for a forever home and having another dog would help with his puppy energy.  He would do best with older children; his reaction to cats is unknown.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 2, 2024, 12:17 am

Story
Georgie Boy was dumped in an oil field and found by a kind team member who knew he needed help. Georgie had not had much love and care prior to arriving in his foster home. He is the sweetest boy who tries his best to be enjoying all the comforts of a home that provides safety, all the food he can eat to fill his tummy, and cuddle up with his foster family. Georgie LOVES playing in water and would do best with another dog in the home to keep showing him the ropes! He is also smart as a whip and very trainable.

Story
Meet Juniper! A spirited six-and-a-half-year-old Belgian Malinois/Shepherd mix currently living in Richardson, TX, whose essence is a joyful whirlwind of energy wrapped in a tan coat with white and black accents. Also known as June Bug or Junie B. Jones, Juniper is equal parts cuddle queen and squirrel-chasing athlete! Her heart is as big as her bark, whether she’s gently checking on the kids in the house like a protective big sister or sounding the alarm when the mailman dares approach her kingdom, Juniper takes her guardian role seriously. She’s a ball-chasing, toy-destroying, high-energy companion who loves her routines, especially mealtimes (don’t worry, she’ll let you know if you're running late). Juniper is house-trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. She also knows all the classics like sit, stay, down, heel, come, and gentle. She’s a natural at doggy parkour, zooming around the yard with the grace of a canine gymnast, and then crashing on the couch for a well-earned snuggle session. While Juniper absolutely thrives on love and companionship, she shines brightest as the only pet in a calm, stable home. In her current household, she’s experienced some tension with the resident dog, but during a recent six-week period as a solo pup, she blossomed! Relaxed, content, and completely in her element. When left alone with the other dog, Juniper has shown some signs of separation anxiety, but when she’s the only pet, she settles beautifully and can spend time alone with ease, enjoying her day until her people return. She’s also reactive on a leash when she sees other dogs or fast-moving critters like squirrels, so she’ll benefit from continued positive reinforcement training and a confident pet parent to help guide her on walks. She’s shy around other dogs and hasn’t spent much time with cats, so a pet-free environment would help her shine her brightest. Her ideal home includes a fenced yard for daily play and space to explore her inner squirrel detective. She’s wonderful with children and has a nurturing, “mother hen” nature. If someone’s upset, Juniper will be the first one to check in, tail wagging and ready to comfort! Great news for potential adopters, Juniper’s adoption fee has been sponsored by the family! They’re also open to fostering options and willing to drive to meet any potential adopters. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who’s as happy chasing tennis balls as she is curled up at your feet, Juniper might just be the perfect fit! Could your home be the next chapter in this playful pup’s story? To learn more or meet Juniper, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com!

Story
Meet Huckleberry! A spirited two-and-a-half-year-old Mastiff/Labrador Retriever mix currently in Edmond, OK, whose essence is a whirlwind of joy wrapped in a sturdy white and gray frame and powered by endless enthusiasm. Huckleberry is a big-hearted, big-footed goofball who lives for fun, fresh air, and friends! We’re talking high-octane fetch sessions, tug-of-war tournaments, and “keep away” games that will keep you on your toes (and laughing out loud!). He’s also a big fan of car rides and pup cups, just say the word and he’s leaping in the back seat like a seasoned road tripper. People? He adores them! Kids over seven? Absolutely! He’s happiest when surrounded by love, play, and plenty of activity. At 60 pounds of pure lovable energy, Huckleberry thrives on structure and routine. He’s house and crate trained, knows commands like sit, heel, stay, and wait, and completed several weeks of training at K9 University. He’s a quick learner and will work for treats every time, though he may test your consistency now and then. Huckleberry enjoys the company of other dogs with slow, proper introductions, but would also be perfectly content soaking up all the attention as the only pet. He’s lived with cats before, his playful nature and size can be a bit much for them, so gentle introductions are a must. His energy can sometimes overwhelm smaller animals, but his intentions are as pure as they come. He’s a strong jumper, so a fenced yard is a must. He needs plenty of exercise and stimulation to keep his mind and muscles happy. Touching his paws makes him a bit uneasy, so patient, low-key vet visits are best. Are you ready to welcome a goofy, loyal, and utterly lovable companion into your life? Huckleberry is waiting to meet his new family. Could it be you?
