Story
How do you spell gorgeous? The answer is Roland. He’s actually stunning! Roland is a three year-old 94lb Anatolian Shepherd that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/18 is a stray. He’s a big boy with a big heart and big dreams of finding a furever home. He is extremely soft and would make a great cuddle bug. He will need frequent brushings. He wants to please and listens to directions. He attempted to jump on me and when I told him to get down, he did so. He knows the sit and shake commands. He takes treats gently. He is very alert and explored the yard. He would frolic joyfully but then come back to check in. He wants to be near his human. He seemed to enjoy having his ears scratched. He did his business in the yard and possibly may be housebroken. He has a slight pull on the leash but I was pleasantly surprised at how gentle he was. He was reactive to a dog in a kennel next to his so if you have another dog, we ask that you ask the shelter for a dog test. Obviously, he will need plenty of room so please check if his breed and size is allowed in the home. Having a secured yard to romp in to burn off some energy. Then he’d like to come inside for cuddle time.

Story
Meet Champ &#194&#150 The Goofy Gentleman & Professional Heart-Stealer Looking for a big dog with an even bigger heart (and just the right amount of mischief)? Allow us to introduce Champ, a 2-year-old, 71-lb Anatolian Shepherd mix who was found near S. Goliad in Rockwall and never reclaimed. He has been patiently waiting over 292 days (as of 01/17/26) for his forever family and is now a Diamond Dog, which means his adoption fee is just $75. Premium dog, bargain price, unlimited love included. Champ is a total lovebug who thrives on being close to his people. He adores snuggles, enjoys gentle play with kids of all ages, and carries his favorite toys around like prized possessions. He walks beautifully on a leash, loves a good zoomie session followed by a cozy nap, and greets everyone with a wag and his signature goofy grin. He bonds deeply and would do best in a home where someone is around most of the day or works from home, as he is not a dog who is content being left alone for long periods. Especially outdoors. This handsome guy is also clever and curious, which means he is an explorer at heart. Champ is not a dog who can be left alone in a backyard, as he is a known escape artist and would absolutely take that as a personal challenge. He will need a securely fenced yard with a minimum 8-foot fence, no chain link, and no shortcuts, so he can safely enjoy outdoor time without turning it into an adventure film. Champ may do well with another dog, but a meet and greet is required to ensure a good personality match and compatible play styles. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm positive, with treatment fully covered thanks to Rockwall PAWS. If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who lives for his people, keeps life entertaining, and will happily make himself your shadow, Champ is ready to make your heart his forever home. Apply to adopt here: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense. January 17, 2026, 1:29 pm

Story
Meet Chance – The Gentle Giant with a Heart Full of Hope Chance is a 11-month-old Anatolian Shepherd/pyrenees mix who embodies everything we love about the breed—loyal, gentle, calm, and deeply loving. He’s great with dogs of all sizes, wonderful with children, and even gets along beautifully with cats and livestock. With his easygoing temperament, Chance is the kind of dog who brings a quiet strength and steady presence to any home. He enjoys affection and will happily accept your love, but he’s also content doing his own thing, making him the perfect balance of independence and companionship. Chance didn’t have the easiest start in life. He was found as a tiny, underweight puppy—his body covered in parasites and his skin painfully inflamed from mites. But with proper care, patience, and love, he healed quickly and has blossomed into the beautiful, resilient boy he is today. Now, Chance is ready for the one thing he’s never had: a forever family who will love and protect him the way he deserves. Story
Hi, I’m Hopper — and I’m ready to bounce into your life! I’m a 1 year old Anatolian Shepherd mix with a big heart, a goofy smile, and a tail that never stops wagging. They named me Hopper because I’ve got a little spring in my step and a whole lot of love in my soul. I’m the full package: friendly, loving, loyal, and full of fun. I love meeting new people, I’m great with other dogs and kids, and I’ve got just the right mix of playful energy and laid-back charm. Two of my favorite things? Going for walks and splashing in the water — seriously, if there’s a puddle, a kiddie pool, or a stream nearby, count me in! Whether we’re on the move or hanging out at home, I’m just happy to be by your side. &#226&#156&#168 A few things about me: &#226&#156&#133 Young & full of life &#226&#156&#133 Neutered &#226&#156&#133 Up to date on vaccines &#226&#156&#133 Microchipped Take treats gently Great with dogs and kids Super friendly with new people ‍&#226&#153&#130&#239&#184&#143 Love walks and adventures Splashing in the water is my jam &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Loyal, loving, and ready to bond for life I may be young, but I’m already dreaming of a forever home — one with people who will love me for who I am and help me keep growing into the amazing dog I’m meant to be. Think we’re a match? I’ll be the one wagging at the kennel door, hoping today’s the day I go home. Love, HopperNovember 29, 2025, 6:17 pm
