He enjoys affection and will happily accept your love, but he’s also content doing his own thing, making him the perfect balance of independence and companionship. Chance didn’t have the easiest start in life. He was found as a tiny, underweight puppy—his body covered in parasites and his skin painfully inflamed from mites. Georgie Boy was dumped in an oil field and found by a kind team member who knew he needed help. Georgie had not had much love and care prior to arriving in his foster home. He is the sweetest boy who tries his best to be enjoying all the comforts of a home that provides safety, all the food he can eat to fill his tummy, and cuddle up with his foster family. Georgie LOVES playing in water and would do best with another dog in the home to keep showing him the ropes! He is also smart as a whip and very trainable.

Meet Champ! This 1.5-year-old pup is basically a 10-year-old boy in dog form—playful, goofy, and always ready for fun! He’s completely obsessed with water, loves to romp, and has a mischievous streak that will keep you laughing. Champ is also a total cuddle bug when playtime is over. He’d do best as an only dog or with other large dogs since he’s still learning to share and can be protective of “treasures” (like things he sneaks from the trash). With a little guidance, this sweet boy will make the perfect adventure buddy and snuggle partner. He’s so ready to find his forever family! 💜 A little on his background: Champ is a young Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix. He was found tied to a post in a parking lot, alone and very scared. Once rescued by a TGPR team member, he has relaxed and is doing wonderfully in his foster home. Champ gets along very well with his foster brother, and loves hanging with his foster family everywhere they go in the house. He bonds with people quickly and is a darling boy, very loyal and loving! Champ is healing fantastically from some wounds that he had prior to when TGPR rescued him. Champ is doing great in his foster home and would be a good buddy to a mature and large dog who is patient with a younger pup.

This story truly tugs at our heartstrings . Sweet Rocky was adopted from the Greenville shelter, but his journey has been anything but smooth. His previous owner claimed he was too big and soon after, Rocky was found abandoned in a local dumping ground . Instead of returning him to the shelter, they left him to fend for himself. Tragically, he was attacked by other abandoned dogs. Thankfully, a kind-hearted Samaritan saw him and took him to the shelter. Rocky was in terrible shape, all beaten up and scared. Before a rescue could be arranged, his previous owners adopted him again, unsure if they would keep him. Sadly, they returned him once more because their fence wasn’t secure and they kept him outside. Rocky had only a few hours left before being scheduled for euthanasia when our rescue found a foster for him. She adored him, but due to a family emergency, she can no longer care for him. Rocky is just 1.5 years old and weighs about 90 lbs. He is nearly perfect! He gets along well with children, and other dogs. He is gentle, sweet, and craves affection. His foster mentioned that whenever she coughed, Rocky would come running to check on her. He doesn’t like being alone but doesn’t destroy anything. He’s a true velcro dog, always wanting to be close to his humans. Rocky can’t wait to find his forever home or be loved by a foster until he meets his forever family! Meet Aimee! She is a 1 yr old spayed female mixed breed that weighs 43lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 9/18. Per the dog scanner app its possible she may have some Anatolian Shepherd or Border Collie in the mix. She is one smart girl too! She knows not only sit, but paw, stay and down. She has such a loving, endearing personality with a smile always on her face. She is also very curious and will sniff out nearly every inch of the shelter yard. She walks well on a leash, takes treats gently, and has the sweetest smile you just can’t resist. Aimee shows no interest in the other dogs that are barking at her, but we do always ask if you have another dog in the home, to please ask the shelter for a dog test. She deserves to have her own loving family, a secured yard to play in, but most importantly live indoors where she can enjoy spending time with her human companions. You could not ask for a more loving companion than Aimee.
