Story
Meet Bruce! He’s a handsome 3-year-old neutered male Anatolian Shepherd mix weighing 64 lbs, who came in as a stray on 2/12. Bruce has the most loving, gentle, and calming personality—you can’t help but smile when he’s around. He walks nicely on a leash, takes treats gently, and loves to nuzzle in for plenty of pets and kisses. With his laid-back nature, he enjoys lounging in the sunshine in the play yard or cuddling up for belly rubs. He’s quickly become a staff and shelter favorite, always wagging his tail and waiting for pets when he spots familiar faces. He is patient while being brushed too. Bruce shows little interest in some barking dogs but engages with others, so he may do best as the only dog in the home. If you have another pet, the shelter recommends a dog test. This big lovebug dreams of a secure yard to relax in, but more than anything, he wants to be indoors with his human companions. Come meet Bruce!

Story
Amy has a laid-back, easy-going personality. She’s also somewhat timid. She followed me around seeking comfort from being close. Amy is a 3y old 50 pound Anatolian Shepherd that was brought into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 2/21. She’s very attractive and soft! To know this girl is to love her! After just a few minutes we bonded and became BFFs. When she first got out into the yard, she just strolled casually around. She’s gentle, calm, well mannered, and friendly without being overbearing. She walked amazingly well on a leash. She walked right along beside me. I see her as being a very loyal, devoted companion. Are you going to be the lucky benefactor all the love she has to share? Because of Amy’s size a yard would be advisable, but because of her softness cuddling in the house would be desirable.

Story
Meet Champ - A Big Heart Looking for the Right Home Champ is a 2-year-old, 71-pound Anatolian Shepherd mix who has been waiting over 326 days (as of 02/20/26) for his forever family. As one of our Diamond Dogs, his adoption fee is just $75 - but the devotion he offers is truly priceless. Champ is deeply people-focused and bonds hard with his person. He thrives on connection and wants to be part of daily life, whether that's structured walks, training time, or relaxing at your feet. He walks beautifully on a leash, enjoys pack walks, and has shown he responds well to consistent guidance and leadership. He's intelligent, eager to learn, and does best with clear boundaries and routine. Champ is playful and energetic, especially outdoors, and would enjoy a home that can match his enthusiasm. He may do well with a carefree, submissive female canine companion, or he may prefer soaking up all the attention as the only dog. He is not suited for homes with cats or small animals. Because of his size, strength, and loyal nature, Champ would do best with older children or adults who are comfortable handling a large dog. He also requires a securely fenced yard (minimum 8-foot fence, no chain link) and should not be left unattended outside. Champ is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm positive, with treatment fully covered thanks to Rockwall PAWS. Champ isn't just looking for a home - he's looking for his person. In the right environment, he will be an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion who gives his whole heart. Apply to adopt Champ here: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ Champ is ready for his fresh start.  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Story
Meet Molly, a 6-year-old Anatolian Shepherd/Pit Bull mix who weighs approximately 93 pounds and is looking for the right home to match her loyal and intelligent personality. Molly was surrendered to our facility after she was not compatible with the other dogs in her previous home. She is very treat-motivated, knows several basic commands, walks well on a leash, and even knows some fun tricks like offering her paw for a &#194&#147shake.&#194&#148 Molly appears to be both housebroken and crate trained, which should help make her transition into a new home smoother. As a middle-aged, extra-large breed dog, Molly prefers a calmer environment and is past the stage of puppy antics. Because of this, she would do best in a home with children 16 years or older, or in an adult-only household. Molly does not do well with female dogs but may coexist with a calm, large-breed male. If you currently have a large male dog in the home, a meet and greet will be required prior to adoption to ensure they are a good match. Molly's adoption fee is $125. She is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, current on her rabies vaccination, and up to date on basic boosters. If you are interested in meeting Molly, please submit an adoption application at https://rockwalladoptions.com/our-pets/available-dogs/  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX.
