If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate, gentle dog come to the Mesquite Shelter to meet Ralph. The shelter had Ralph down as a German shepherd mix, but my Dog Scanner said he's most likely a black mouth cur/Anatolian shepherd mix. He's two years old and weighs 58 pounds. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 7/2 as a stray. Go back through the photos, and you will see that his tail frequently curls into a corkscrew!!! I had an instant connection with Ralph. He was so sweet, loving, and well mannered that he captured my ??. He did jump on me a few times but immediately got down when told to do so. He definitely wants to please. He comes when he's called. He stays close. He sits for treats and takes them gently. He's highly motivated by treats so he should be easy to train. I said in the video he was not interested in playing with toys, but at the end of the photo shoot he found some toys in the toy box and began to entertain himself with them. He has the right amount of energy and playfulness mixed in with calmness. Besides that he is very furry so would make a really great cuddle bug! With all the fur, he definitely cannot be an outside dog. He would be too hot! Besides that he would love to snuggle with you while you're watching TV.

Story

Hercules is a big sweet baby who loves attention and pets. He needs some time to get used to a new surrounding/owner but once that is done he is a big love bear who will make a great part of your family. Due to our current living situation and unforeseen family issues, we cannot provide the care, attention and affection he needs. He has stayed with us for the last 4 years and his been an amazing part of our family. Also living beside our pet cat whom he loves like a brother. He has spent time with other dogs and cats as well from dogsitting which he's had no problems with. He does have initial separation anxiety which he got over within a month of being with us. My fiance and me found out recently my father had a stroke so we have to move by the end of this month to go and take care of him, we are unable to take him with us due to breed restrictions. I currently have Hercules scheduled for surrender on September 26th but I want to find him a loving home before it comes to that.

Eggnog is around a year old and tries to be the best boy! He is super sweet, smart, gentle, charming and will tell you what he wants. He’s just learning to walk on a leash and is pretty good in the crate. He’s not a huge fan of baths but LOVES playing in the rain. He likes car rides and just learned to sit for pets instead of jumping (though sometimes he is so excited when we get home for the evening he forgets his manners). He is great with kids of all ages though, and with dogs and cats, he doesn’t know how big he is though and doesn’t believe in personal space! He LOVES to run on my property and has made friends with the neighbors horse. He loves being outside so a yard with family and furry friends would be best but, he would probably adjust well with time anywhere with his forever human.
