Story
Critter Cavalry Rescue is trying to help several dogs like Lyla out of a small rural shelter that is cramped and hard on the spirit of the kind of dog like Lyla.  She came to the shelter as an owner surrender forced by the animal control of the shelter.   She and her sister were being crated 24.7 just about and this was negligent and cruel.  She has been in this little shelter for almost 3 months now and her Blue Heeler spirit is just being stifled to get out and have some time to roam a yard, go for a fun run of fetch the ball or just be sleeping on a soft cozy dog bed at your feet.  It is just hard on the spirit when these dogs are stashed away and unnoticed and very little attention except to feed them.  She is 1-2 years old and 38 pounds.  She is mostly Heeler from what we can tell but on the darker side and she is warm and friendly but cautious too because of the confinement she has experienced.  Help us if you love the breed or love rescuing and fostering or even adopting.  She is fully vetted and ready to go!  Email us at  ccrnewengland@gmail.com   It is time to free Lyla! PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 18, 2024, 8:28 pm

Story
Our handsome boy is one special guy and we call him Bluey.  Truly this dog has the sweetest spirit ever and is a young guy at just 2 years old and 51 pounds.  He is a Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix but doesn’t have the determined high energy that some can have.  He is laid back, gentle in nature and his approach to people and other dogs, a calm and happy boy who is smart with a deep sense of what he wants from his humans.  After spending a few months at a very poor and small shelter in rural Tennessee, we have seen that he is 90%housebroken, as we have not had him long, but pretty much he has impeccable house manners and blends in so easily. This boy is going to be someone’s treasure as a family companion.  He is great with young children and we can cat test him as well.  Our impression is that he will be really  good with them.  Bluey is waiting for the final change that will insure he gets a fresh start and a loving future with people that will cherish.  This has been our promise to all our Critter Cavalry Rescue animals, both dogs and cats. We only want the best of the best for this special boy.  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 18, 2024, 8:28 pm

Story
“You can’t resist reading Pointer’s profile  because he is so darn cute, but Pointer isn’t for everyone. Pointer is a Blue Heeler mix, weighing in at less than 30 lbs. Just like bigger herding dogs, Pointer likes to chase, herd, nip heels and is very strong-willed. Pointer needs lots of exercise and must have mental stimulation throughout the day. He enjoys learning commands and working on his obedience commands and would make an excellent agility, nose work, scent work or other sport participant. Pointer is not a couch potato and when left to entertain himself, he can get into trouble. Pointer needs a person who is experienced with herding breeds or dogs who are competitive in sports and are not put off by his strong personality.  With the right person, Pointer can be the ultimate friend!  I would not be a candidate for an apartment, condo/townhome or a home without a fence. If interested in giving me a forever home please complete an application at www.safeanimalhaven.com Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler Characteristics Standing between 17 to 20 inches at the shoulder, the Australian Cattle Dog is a sturdy, hard-muscled herder of strength and agility. The ACD is born with a white coat that turns blue-gray or red. Both coat varieties feature distinctive mottling or specking patterns. ACDs have immense work drive and excel at hunting, chasing, and, of course, moving livestock. Their boundless energy and supple gait make them excellent running partners.ACDs are true-blue loyal, famously smart, ever alert, and wary of strangers. If an ACD isn’t challenged, he easily becomes bored and gets into mischief. It is recommended that ACD owners participate with their dog in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep him mentally and physically fit.June 10, 2024, 12:21 am

Story
Meet Rolland aka Rollie! This handsome heeler mix is just over 1 year old and is the sweetest boy ever. He originally came from Lancaster Animal Shelter where his owners surrendered him. He was an outdoor dog who truly wanted to be an indoor dog. He is a typical herding dog with energy for days and always looking for an adventure. He is still very young and can be a little mouthy at times, so we are recommending kids 10 and up. He has been exposed to cats and wasn’t overly interested in them more in their food and toys! Rollie is also picking up potty training very quickly and is already crate trained. His foster parents are working on basic obedience with him and he is quickly picking it up, but still gets excited and will jump on you. He enjoys going on walks (or runs if you can keep up) and really enjoys playing with other dogs. He would do great in a home with a dog who can match his energy. He can resource guard his toys sometimes, but is easily corrected and has been doing less with correction. Rolland is already neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on all his vaccines. Story
Tony was put out with the trash at a local trash dump with his sister. They spent a few weeks avoiding capture before we were able to secure them. At first Tony is a little more reserved but he warms up quickly and becomes super affectionate! Tony has been exposed to dogs of all sizes, cats and even kids and he has done well with all. We take our best guess with breed makeup but there is truly no telling what his mix is. We anticipate he will be no more than 60 lbs full grown. Tony is currently 16 weeks old and doing well with crate and potty training. ** Tony up to date on all of his vaccines. Tony cannot be altered until 6 months of age and per our adoption agreement the adopter agrees to have this completed and provide proof to rescue.
