Story
Twain is a handsome 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix with a big heart, a busy brain, and the sweetest snuggles you’ve ever seen. He currently lives in a foster home, where he’s showing just how loving and eager-to-learn he really is. Twain is still mastering the doggie door and working on becoming fully housebroken, but he’s a smart boy who learns quickly. He attaches closely to his person and loves being near his humans—especially if he can cuddle or sneak in a little couch-spooning. He’s affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he’s close. This active pup eats three meals a day because he burns through energy with his playful personality. He plays hard, loves physical engagement, and shows zero signs of food or toy aggression. He is picky with treats, but he’ll never turn down quality time with his people. Inside the home, Twain is learning how to relax and settle. He does spend time in his crate, though it’s not his favorite place just yet. He has some basic manners down, but he will need continued help with leash training and structure as he grows.Twain’s ideal home:He needs a resident dog who can match his physical play style and confident personality—a buddy who can keep up and help guide him, rather than a submissive sibling who may be overwhelmed. With the right dog friend and a patient human, Twain will continue to blossom into the incredible companion he’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a loyal, smart, energetic young pup who will adore you endlessly and steal your heart (and your couch spot), Twain may be your perfect match! If interested in learning more about Twain and the adoption process, please email the shelter foster team at foster@cuyahogacounty.gov today! Please note Twain currently resides in a foster home and is not available for same time meet and greets.

Hi, I'm Poppy I'm a 2.5 year old Fully vaccinated and fixed. I'm the good boy. I would love my own forever home with a family That loves me, I'd like to tell you my story.I'm even kennel trained. I had a family, and I love them, and I was a good boy, I'm not sure but I don't think they love me. One day he all went for a car ride and I was having fun and my family stopped in this big Park and took me out and I turned around. They were gone. I lived outside for a while until this wonderful lady. Seen me and helped me. I was so hungry and so alone I was there for a lot of days I kept watching to see if they would come back but they never. Then one day this lady came to feed the all the dogs that people leave and she took a few of us with her and she goes back from time to time to try to help all the other dogs that the families are have left. God blessed me for her to find me so hot outside. There's no water, no food.. The lady that picked us up. Her name is Angela. She promised me and are my friends that we would never have to go and be alone again. So now we're looking for my forever family.. If you're interested in me, please call Addie at 216-205-2647 I'm just so happy that Angela doesn't have the heart to leave . So give me a shot. I promise to be loyal and love you! Story
TEDDY 3YRS 30LBS MALE AUS CATTLE DOG LISA 1YR 20 LBS FEMALE MIX MUST HAVE ACD/HERDING BREED EXPERIENCE BONDED PAIR-Ever wanted a dog for you and a dog for your sig other but were afraid of clashing personalities? Well, not here because these two love each other, a LOT, so at least you know they get along perfectly and there is one for each of you. 2x the love!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And man, are they CUTE!) They travel often in the car with me for over an hour at a time - they do ride crated. Load up easy and ride quietly- unless we go through a drive through then Lisa has opinions about what she wants too. She likes to play ball, but not as intense as Teddy and will just let him get it and go find something else to do. They play and wrestle with each other and other dogs. Not overly rough but will get on ground with each other. They love to run laps in the yard chasing each other. They leave my uninterested dogs alone, as there is always someone else to play with. Lisa did not get along with my 1 male foster - just a little 10 pounder . Not sure who to started the war, but I did not leave them loose with each other * no actual fight/injury/contact ever occured. There was alot of noise 1 time, and they would grumble at each other when passing by each other's crates/run at work. Teddy is pretty easy going but doesn't like to be corrected. He will get bossy -verbal and pin someone who tries to But a sharp HEY from me and he will stop and walk away * never has been a fight or injury. Loves to play fetch and the other dogs do not challenge him to get the ball away from him. He would definitely destroy a stuffed toy if given the chance. They both love to chew on antlers/ nylabones/Benebone etc Teddy is a super cuddler and happy to hang on the couch or bed. Lisa loves attention too but takes a bit more to settle down at first. Both settle quickly and Quietly in a crate. They are both jumpers and when seeking attention. They have gotten better, but would need to be reminded of their manners going forward. We do not require a fenced BUT they would need a secure area to be able to run in and burn off energy weekly. Crate trained and housebroken   This animal is up to date on all shots, dewormed, and spayed/neutered. They have been heartworm tested (negative) and on prevention.  The adoption fee is $400.00 for the pair. Story
Cooper is a good boy. I adopted him from a shelter in July 2024, when they think he was about 1 year old. He had never had a family before, and he has come a long way. He is crate trained and house trained. He loves to cuddle on the couch, and he sleeps in my bed. Cooper is great with kids and really loves them. I have 7 nieces and nephews ages 13 to 2, and he is good with them. If he has not had enough exercise, though, he can be too excited and knock them over. All that being said, Cooper is high energy. I am not home enough, and my mom, who used to help with other dogs, can no longer drive, so cannot help me. Over the last few months I’ve been experiencing health issues, the most recent my heart, and it has been a journey. It is clear that while I love Cooper, he really needs a home that is more active. If he does not have enough exercise or stimulation he will chew anything and everything, so someone familiar with his breed would be best.

Story
In Olmsted Township - Hey everyone! Let us introduce you to Mr. Max R. Roni. Max is an almost 7 year old Australian Shepherd. He’s had a sad past, losing his home, his mom and dad and now looking for a forever home to accept him as he is. It’s time for Max to find his furever home and thrive. Max came to ASF grossly overweight. He has been with his foster for several months trying to get some of his weight off and to help him be happy again. He’s lost a lot of weight already and is feeling much better. Max is a gentle old soul. When in the house, he’s pretty chill… he’ll find his spot and most of the time he’ll hang there alone. He will bring you his tennis ball (his FAVORITE toy) and wants you to toss it once he gives it to you. Max really loves butt rubs and being petted. He gets super excited to go outside and play ball or chase or catch a rolled Frisbee. When it’s time to quit, he just finds a spot to lay down. Max gets nervous on car rides and isn’t a fan. He’s very content staying at home. Walks are okay; he’s a bigger boy so he does pull some. Max is great left in the house all day: no accidents, no destruction. He does like the couch and would prefer to share your bed. Max has an issue with resource guarding toys… all toys belong to Max. Thus, a home with a submissive female or as an only dog would be best. His submissive 2 year old female foster sister Aussie plays chase with him but will drop any toy she has when Max comes near. He wasn’t nice the first time, so she just lets him have any toy. (The male Aussie in the house did not back down and this didn’t go well at all.) Due to his resource guarding, a home with small children would not be advised nor any dominant dog. Max is a sweet boy who just needs to find the right home. Someone to pet him on the couch, toss the ball for him once in while, take him out in the yard while you work or enjoy sitting and watching the day pass. Max is neutered, microchipped, UTD on vaccines, housebroken, crate trained, and on HW/flea prevention. He is currently being fostered in Olmsted Township, OH. There is an additional $20 fee to transfer his microchip to his new owners. All adoption fees go to help rescue other dogs like Max. Here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application

Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Peninsula, OH Meet Cash! He is an 11 month old Australian Shepherd and weighs 50 lbs. He is neutered and up to date on shots, but isn’t on heartworm prevention. Cash is fearful of strangers! No children, because he is nervous around them. He is good with cats and dogs! Cash is housebroken and crate-trained. The owner is surrendering him because they moved in with their mother who has health issues. Their mother doesn’t have a yard and he is too much energy for her. He needs to go ASAP! If you think you can provide a great home for Cash, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Strongsville, OH *This dog doesn’t belong to ASF and hasn’t been evaluated by ASF.* Meet Riley! He is a 5-year-old Australian Shepherd mix (the other breed is unknown) and weighs around 80 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Riley wants all of the attention! He would do best as the only dog or in a home with a dog who doesn’t mind him getting more attention. He hasn’t been tested around older children or cats. Riley needs a quiet home with older children or without any children, because he doesn’t like them yelling or running past him. The owner is surrendering him because he nips their children whenever they run or yell. He also resource guards food when around their other dog. He needs to go ASAP! If you think you can provide a great home for Riley, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $100 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions.
