Story
We really outdid ourselves with originality in naming Cattle Dog, or “Cattle D” for not much shorter. Cattle Dog has all the energy and big personality you would expect from a Cattle Dog—he will patrol your yard to protect it from both squirrels and ghosts, but when not under attack from these nefarious villains, he loves to play with his friends and loves giving kisses and hugs and getting attention from his people. He’s a fantastic dog and just the best boy. A physically fenced yard is required. Cattle Dog is available for adoption in Ohio to residents of Ohio. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application Personality: Polly is a wiggly gal who loves to play and is a total snuggle bug. She has a doggy friend at her foster’s home and there isn’t a play they won’t play together. She is friendly toward all people, affectionate and not vocal. She rides well in the car and is crate trained. She seems to have natural herding skills. Likes: Playful dog friends, treats, hanging out in her crate, playing outside Dislikes: We haven’t found much she doesn’t like yet Energy level: Middle energy with bouts of high energy (play) Favorite activities: Playing with her doggy friend (for hours and hours), racing around the yard, snuggling on the couch. She likes toys and treats and of course toys with treats (kongs). Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?: Foster has 4 kids aged 4-11 and she is wonderful with all of them, in fact she hasn’t met a human she doesn’t like and seek affection from! She is fabulous with her foster doggy friend and would like to have a dog friend at her forever home (preferred, not required). Not good with: (Cats? Dogs? Strangers? Men? Kids?) She is extremely curious about the cats in her foster home; cats are leery of her, strongly suggest a home without cats. Housetrained: Yes Crate trained: Absolutely! Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)?: If owner is active a fence is probably not required. Walks well on a leash?:  Yes Challenges: Any Medical issues?: None known What would be the best kind of home?: A wide variety of homes would be a good fit for Polly. She is an easy going gal who would ideally have a dog friend to play with. A family with kids or an active single person would be a fine place for Polly. No cats would be best.   Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Important notes before applying. Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption.  Proof of any of the following exceptions is required: The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team. The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown. A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.  We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.  Homes with highly varnished steps must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. **We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Story
ABOUT ME... Hi, my name is Daphne! I found my way into rescue after having turned up to the big scary dog pound as a stray. I was sooo scared there, I liked to show my teeth and was at risk for euthanasia. I still get growly around new people and when I'm overwhelmed, so please be patient! But once I warm up, I'm the biggest bundle of love and playfulness (and mischief!). My foster mom says I have so much energy! I would love a family who has another dog or can take me to the dog park to help me get some of my energy out. I AM GREAT WITH... I am great with other dogs, supervised kids, and cats! I am potty trained and love playing and going outside. I do great in my kennel after having a few minutes to calm down. Some of my favorite things are tug, fetch, chew toys, attention, sitting in my human's lap, treats, going to the dog park, running around, belly rubs, and looking out the window. I AM STILL WORKING ON... My basic commands - I have been working really hard on sit, down, stay, shake, and leave it! I AM NOT GOOD WITH... My manners! I love playing so much that I think everything is a toy (including humans). I like eating things I find on walks, climbing furniture, and barking at noises outside. Sometimes I even bark at myself in the mirror! I will need a family who can help train me to be my best self. **All animals in our care are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (age 1 & up), given preventatives, and provided with initial vaccinations AT MINIMUM. Booster shots are included in the adoption fee and will be performed at our clinic, or the adopter can use their own vet at their expense. Adopters must reside within 2 hours of Columbus, OH. No transportation assistance is available.**
