Story
Max was born on April 10, 2021. He is an Australian Shepherd with a red/copper coat, blue eyes and a long tail. He is a medium-sized athletic dog. Max forms deep bonds with us and can become jealous if he doesn’t receive enough attention. He is very friendly, loves to cuddle, and still thinks he’s a puppy. We acquired Max June 29, 2021, without breeding rights. He is intelligent, energetic, and extremely loyal. Max loves the outdoors, especially camping, and enjoys joining my husband on trail rides while mountain biking. The time we acquired Max was also when my mom was diagnosed with dementia. Two years ago, I lost my mom and have not been able to return to work since then. Letting Max go is incredibly difficult, but due to my current financial situation and not working. I can no longer afford to care for him the way he deserves. Max is a smart, devoted, high energy companion-perfect for those who enjoy an active lifestyle and want a dog who is affectionate. Adoption fee negotiable!

Pongo is a real ball of energy, with enough enthusiasm to keep you going all day long. Due to his excitement, Pongo can be a little mouthy at times, so you might want to invest in some sturdy chew toys! Despite his playful nature, Pongo is also one smart cookie. He's always eager to learn new tricks and commands, and with the right training, he's sure to be the top dog in no time. However, it's worth noting that Pongo may need some extra guidance when it comes to being around kids. He's still learning the ropes, but with patience and lots of treats, he'll be the perfect family pet in no time. Please call 707-459-4900 if you would like to meet Pongo.

Story
LOCATION: SANCTUARY IN WILLITS, CA. Shiro likes to play with toys, and is very smart. He is a moderately high drive dog like most herding breeds and likes activity on his terms. He likes his walks but his insecurities keep him from being a dog park dog. He bonds heavily with a particular person and sometimes a particular dog - he is IN LOVE with the dog SNOW KITTY at the Milo Sanctuary, and would follow him anywhere. Shiro is wary of strangers but is very loyal to his people and for this reason he can be protective. He needs a very predictable, low stim. home to be successful. Training and building Shiro's confidence would be key to have Shiro flourish. *Previous Notes* 5/20/17 "Shiro is a super mellow dog. He just loves to sleep all day when we are at work. He does not bark or chew anything up. He is potty and house trained and never has had an accident inside the house. He is so furry and soft and has stunningly beautiful blue eyes. Shiro loves to run around and play fetch and catch Frisbee when he is not cuddling next to you. He loves the outdoors but is not a super energetic dog. He will just sleep all day or go for a walk with you. He loves squeaky toys and will just collect them from around the house if you hide them. He is intelligent and treat motivated. He was able to learn how to sit and was learning how to stay in just a few training sessions. *Shiro has probably had a rough past. When the vet examined him, we found a pellet in his x-rays. It is probably from being shot. He bonds very well with women and is more skittish with males. He also tends to get scared of men and tries to guard his female guardian sometimes. He does not like strangers coming up to him and gets protective of his owners. He would do well with experienced owners. We are not sure how he does with kids - Milo suggests a home without children for a myriad of reasons due to his stranger danger. He is insecure and can react poorly when meeting new dogs, but usually settles in and is fine - but can take some work with him and a new dog to get past the initial snapping and jitters, running with his tail tucked. *He needs lots of love, affection, and discipline, which we were unable to provide with our busy lives." *Shiro is not a first time dog, nor a city dog. He has fairly severe stranger danger and a bite record, he has fear based aggression to dogs and people. He needs a predictable environment, and a buddy dog. Interested please email an application to sanctuary@milofoundation.org Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioral issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you.

Story
Meet Emery! 🐾 Emery is a bright, athletic young dog who’s ready to find her perfect match. At first, she can be a little reserved, but once she feels comfortable, her affectionate and playful personality quickly shines through. She loves staying active—whether it’s a jog around the neighborhood, a game of fetch, or just zooming around the yard—and she’d be happiest with a family who enjoys getting out and moving, too. Smart and eager to please, Emery already knows her basics and walks well on leash. She’s very motivated by treats, which makes training and bonding a breeze. Emery enjoys the company of other dogs and would do well in a home with a canine friend to play with. Because she’s full of energy and enthusiasm, she’ll do best with older, dog-savvy kids who can join in on her adventures. If you’re looking for a sweet, spirited companion who will keep you smiling (and on your toes), Emery might just be the one! 💛

Story
Meet Santi - this incredible, loving and joyful herdy girl is looking for her forever home! Her former foster family reports that Santi is an incredibly sweet, smart, and capable dog who has quickly settled into a wonderful companion. She is perfectly house-trained, sleeps quietly in her crate at night, and is one of the quietest dogs you'll ever meet. She's calm and easy-going and has shown no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behaviors. She's also quickly learning many commands! She has already mastered "sit," "down," "place," and "paw," and is getting better every day at "roll over" and "stay." Her favorite pastimes include playing with the hose in the yard, visiting the beach, and asking for belly rubs. Santi is a true "velcro dog," she loves to be by your side and stays close, making her a loyal companion. Santi shows some typical herding behaviors, so a home experienced with these would be the perfect fit for her. She will make the perfect, loyal companion to a calm but active home. If that sounds like you, apply today to meet this love bug!

Story
Meet Skye ☁️🐾 Skye is a bright, energetic pup who’s always ready for her next adventure! With her high energy and playful spirit, she’s best suited for an active home that can keep her both physically and mentally engaged. She’s great with other dogs and would love a canine friend to romp around with. Skye already knows “sit” and is very food motivated, which makes her a fun and rewarding training partner. She can be jumpy when excited and currently pulls on leash, so continued training and structure will help her shine. Because of her enthusiasm and energy, Skye would do best with dog-savvy children ages 10 and up. Skye is not good with cats, so a cat-free home is a must. With the right family who can match her energy and continue her training, Skye will be an amazing, loyal companion ready to take on life by your side. 🌟
