Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog J:5Meet Seabreeze – a gentle, sensitive girl ready to find her footing and flourish. &#239&#184&#143 At just over a year old and 42 lbs, Seabreeze is a beautiful Australian Shepherd mix with a soft soul and a whole lot of potential. She was adopted for a short time but came back to the shelter when the match wasn’t quite right—she’s still learning to feel safe around men and young children, and would do best in a calm, experienced home that can help her build trust at her own pace. Seabreeze has a few obedience skills under her belt already, and she’s eager to learn more! With her smarts, a love for gentle encouragement, and a willingness to connect, she could really blossom with some training, structure, and maybe even a little agility work to help her gain confidence. In playgroups, Seabreeze is more of a quiet observer than a social butterfly, but she’s calm and respectful with other dogs. A confident canine sibling could be a great role model for her as she continues to adjust to the world outside the shelter. This sweet pup may be shy at first, but once she feels safe, she leans in for affection and starts to show her true, loving self. If you're patient, dog-savvy, and ready to help a young pup grow into the amazing companion she’s meant to be, Seabreeze could be the perfect match. Come meet her at Oakland Animal Services and help her catch her stride.April 22, 2025, 2:49 pm

Pongo is a real ball of energy, with enough enthusiasm to keep you going all day long. Due to his excitement, Pongo can be a little mouthy at times, so you might want to invest in some sturdy chew toys! Despite his playful nature, Pongo is also one smart cookie. He's always eager to learn new tricks and commands, and with the right training, he's sure to be the top dog in no time. However, it's worth noting that Pongo may need some extra guidance when it comes to being around kids. He's still learning the ropes, but with patience and lots of treats, he'll be the perfect family pet in no time. Please call 707-459-4900 if you would like to meet Pongo.

Story
Sycamore would be a great adventure buddy and playful second dog. She is athletic and inquisitive. She loves hiking, swimming and curling up for a long snuggle. Sycamore is incredibly bright—she picked up "down," "stay," and "leave it" in just a week—and loves toys, playtime, and being right by your side. Sycamore thrives with both physical activity and mental stimulation, and in return, she gives full-hearted loyalty. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and would be thrilled to have a playful pup friend at home. She has lovely manners when meeting new dogs, and a great play and then chill out capacity, Sycamore is still a youngster so she’s got lots of joyful energy and will do best in a home that’s committed to continued training and structure. She has herding behaviors that make her inappropriate for a home with small children. She sleeps soundly through the night in her crate and starts each day with a happy tail wags and lots of zoomies. If she sounds like the perfect addition to your family, apply today to meet her!

Story
LOCATION: SANCTUARY IN WILLITS, CA. Shiro likes to play with toys, and is very smart. He is a moderately high drive dog like most herding breeds and likes activity on his terms. He likes his walks but his insecurities keep him from being a dog park dog. He bonds heavily with a particular person and sometimes a particular dog - he is IN LOVE with the dog SNOW KITTY at the Milo Sanctuary, and would follow him anywhere. Shiro is wary of strangers but is very loyal to his people and for this reason he can be protective. He needs a very predictable, low stim. home to be successful. Training and building Shiro's confidence would be key to have Shiro flourish. *Previous Notes* 5/20/17 "Shiro is a super mellow dog. He just loves to sleep all day when we are at work. He does not bark or chew anything up. He is potty and house trained and never has had an accident inside the house. He is so furry and soft and has stunningly beautiful blue eyes. Shiro loves to run around and play fetch and catch Frisbee when he is not cuddling next to you. He loves the outdoors but is not a super energetic dog. He will just sleep all day or go for a walk with you. He loves squeaky toys and will just collect them from around the house if you hide them. He is intelligent and treat motivated. He was able to learn how to sit and was learning how to stay in just a few training sessions. *Shiro has probably had a rough past. When the vet examined him, we found a pellet in his x-rays. It is probably from being shot. He bonds very well with women and is more skittish with males. He also tends to get scared of men and tries to guard his female guardian sometimes. He does not like strangers coming up to him and gets protective of his owners. He would do well with experienced owners. We are not sure how he does with kids - Milo suggests a home without children for a myriad of reasons due to his stranger danger. He is insecure and can react poorly when meeting new dogs, but usually settles in and is fine - but can take some work with him and a new dog to get past the initial snapping and jitters, running with his tail tucked. *He needs lots of love, affection, and discipline, which we were unable to provide with our busy lives." *Shiro is not a first time dog, nor a city dog. He has fairly severe stranger danger and a bite record, he has fear based aggression to dogs and people. He needs a predictable environment, and a buddy dog. Interested please email an application to sanctuary@milofoundation.org Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioral issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you.

Story
Please read what their foster family has shared with us about Jack and Diane. Jack and Diane are two Aussie and maybe Border Collie mixes. Jack is the energetic one and Diane is calmer. But the two do play and race around together quite intensively at times! They have both done well with my nine year old dog. They are both house trained (overnight are just fine) do very well in a medium sized crate together (settle down and are calm), are self feeders (share food very well), are non barkers, seek out attention and love to be petted. Diane is leashed trained. She walks nicely with you and doesn’t pull. She seems to have been exposed to lots of things and doesn’t react to anything while on leash. She is a bit timid at first but once she gets comfortable she wags her cute tail stub happily. Jack is a typical herding breed adolescent. He is a ton of fun. Loves to play fetch (we are working on drop it), very smart (only took one try and he figured out the dog door) and craves attention. The two would love a home together. Please fill out an application to meet them.

Story
Meet Stetson! A stunning, speckled Aussie mix, who's on the mellow and affectionate side. He loves his walks or trips to the beach, but his absolute favorite activity is cuddles with his people. He would prefer a calm and quieter home where he can feel settled. Once he adjusts to his environment, he's the perfect mix of playful and chill. His previous foster home reported that he's not a barker and is very well-behaved. He's also attentive, smart and highly trainable, so would love a home where he can learn new tricks and receive plenty of attention and love! He's working on his manners with other dogs and can be a little wary of strangers, so he needs an alpha person or people to provide him structure and show him what's expected. He naturally wants to please and is ready to bond with his people, so with a little patience, he'll blossom into the perfect, loyal companion. If you're able to cope with PLENTY of snuggles and provide a structured and loving environment, stop by to meet Stetson today!
