Pongo is a real ball of energy, with enough enthusiasm to keep you going all day long. Due to his excitement, Pongo can be a little mouthy at times, so you might want to invest in some sturdy chew toys! Despite his playful nature, Pongo is also one smart cookie. He's always eager to learn new tricks and commands, and with the right training, he's sure to be the top dog in no time. However, it's worth noting that Pongo may need some extra guidance when it comes to being around kids. He's still learning the ropes, but with patience and lots of treats, he'll be the perfect family pet in no time. Please call 707-459-4900 if you would like to meet Pongo.

Story
Summit is quite a handsome pup! This energetic and playful pup is always ready for action. Whether it’s a game of chase, romping with dog friends, or exploring the world around him, Summit thrives when he has an outlet for his enthusiasm. He’s incredibly dog-friendly and would love a home with another playful canine companion to match his energy and keep the fun going. Summit is also very people-friendly and enjoys being with his humans and seeks affection. He’s both food- and affection-motivated, which makes him eager to engage and bond. He’s also a fast learner and is eager to please. Because of his active nature, Summit would do best in a home that can keep up with his adventurous spirit and provide plenty of exercise, playtime, and enrichment.

Story
Meet Crosby! Crosby is an 8 month old, 45ish pound Catahoula mix who exudes energetic, puppy joy and happiness. He’s a confident, intelligent pup who loves people and other dogs he’s met (so far), and his wonderful Catahoula nature offers a deep desire to please his humans, to love on them, and to be a part of the family. He’s still a young fellow who will need guidance, training, and structure to grow into an amazing, well-mannered adult, but he’s a very quick learner, and he’s looking forward to learning all this exciting stuff from a loving adopter like you! Crosby is very energetic and adventurous without being obnoxious, but he does require daily exercise (a large yard, toys, walks or hikes) to keep his mind and his body stimulated. He also greatly appreciates cuddling up by his human’s side and taking frequent naps in the sun, either with you or with his fellow canine friends. Although he’s got a great bark (not yippie or high pitched) that will only improve with age, he plays surprisingly quietly with his buddies in general, even during heated games of chase. If you’ve got the time to spend with this adorable, very happy bundle of play-doh while he blooms from puppyhood into adulthood with a constant smile on his face, Crosby will undoubtedly and almost instantly become your/your family’s very loyal, loving, best friend for life. Because he’s still young, energetic, and brand new to learning the ropes about manners and life, (like not jumping on people to say hello, for example), he would do best in a home without small children that he could easily knock over or accidentally scratch while playing. Crosby hasn’t spent up-close and personal time with cats in his foster home, but he’s frequently watched them through windows and screen doors, reacting excitedly/happily with tail wagging, but not at all aggressively — just curiosity. He’d likely do very well in a home with cats once he’s a little more mature, but only with a mindful, slow integration, of course, and only after he’s learned his basic commands. Crosby is a true gem of an older puppy, and if you’ve got an active, adventurous lifestyle filled with a nice balance of excitement and quiet, cuddling moments, he’d love, love, love to be your buddy!

Story
If you’re looking for a truly happy-go-lucky, sweetheart of a puppy, this adorable, fluffy gent is for you! At ~6 months old and 45lbs, Cash is very shy and gets easily overwhelmed when meeting new people; he may even run and hide from you at first, but the moment he realizes you’re safe and just want to give him some love, he puts his big boy britches on and warms up to you, showing you his truly kind-natured, sweet persona. Once he opens up, Cash adores being showered with pets and belly rubs and gazing deeply into your eyes with a puppyish grin on his face, all while soaking up your attention and affection and adding it to his mental confidence meter. The quickest way to Cash’s heart is definitely through another fun-loving pup or pups. He absolutely LOVES loves loves other dogs of all shapes and sizes — puppies and adults, small and giant — and his play style is truly a joy to watch; he’s energetic and interactive, yet respectful and plays quietly, especially for such a youngster. Playtime and just being around other resident dogs is his favorite time of the day… other than naps, of course! Cash accepts treats gently, doesn’t resource guard, appreciates cuddling up with soft toys, and has already mastered the puppy art of basking in the sun, either by himself, with his buddies, or with his human by his side. This adorable, charming fella would thrive in a calm and peaceful home with another dog or dogs to play with. Ideally an active person, couple, or family to introduce him to new noises and new things (slowly…), and who would take him on exciting pack hikes and new adventures! Cash comes from a secluded, serene environment in the woods, so urban settings are understandably very scary and overwhelming for him.

Story
Bodie is a delightful gem of a 40 pound, playful fellow who is looking for his Bestie. This boy wants to please and will adore his person/people and soak up any and all acts of love and affection while he learns to navigate his new life. He is a quick learner knows “Sit” and is picking up other commands. With consistency and people who love and care for him he will thrive! He adores kids, and all people! responds well to training. Bodie gets along great with other dogs but isn’t a fan of cats, so seemingly best for a home without felines. Because Bodie has some separation anxiety, he should only be left alone for up to two hours, and ideally be an go-to-work family member or at the least have a well matched canine buddy to help him feel more secure when the humans are away. and he may be vocal about it. He’s full of enthusiasm and is ready for plenty of adventures with an active outdoorsy family! With love, guidance, and plenty of playtime, Bodie will be a loyal, joyful companion who brings endless delight and devotion to his forever home.

Story
LOCATION: SANCTUARY IN WILLITS, CA. Shiro likes to play with toys, and is very smart. He is a moderately high drive dog like most herding breeds and likes activity on his terms. He likes his walks but his insecurities keep him from being a dog park dog. He bonds heavily with a particular person and sometimes a particular dog - he is IN LOVE with the dog SNOW KITTY at the Milo Sanctuary, and would follow him anywhere. Shiro is wary of strangers but is very loyal to his people and for this reason he can be protective. He needs a very predictable, low stim. home to be successful. Training and building Shiro's confidence would be key to have Shiro flourish. *Previous Notes* 5/20/17 "Shiro is a super mellow dog. He just loves to sleep all day when we are at work. He does not bark or chew anything up. He is potty and house trained and never has had an accident inside the house. He is so furry and soft and has stunningly beautiful blue eyes. Shiro loves to run around and play fetch and catch Frisbee when he is not cuddling next to you. He loves the outdoors but is not a super energetic dog. He will just sleep all day or go for a walk with you. He loves squeaky toys and will just collect them from around the house if you hide them. He is intelligent and treat motivated. He was able to learn how to sit and was learning how to stay in just a few training sessions. *Shiro has probably had a rough past. When the vet examined him, we found a pellet in his x-rays. It is probably from being shot. He bonds very well with women and is more skittish with males. He also tends to get scared of men and tries to guard his female guardian sometimes. He does not like strangers coming up to him and gets protective of his owners. He would do well with experienced owners. We are not sure how he does with kids - Milo suggests a home without children for a myriad of reasons due to his stranger danger. He is insecure and can react poorly when meeting new dogs, but usually settles in and is fine - but can take some work with him and a new dog to get past the initial snapping and jitters, running with his tail tucked. *He needs lots of love, affection, and discipline, which we were unable to provide with our busy lives." *Shiro is not a first time dog, nor a city dog. He has fairly severe stranger danger and a bite record, he has fear based aggression to dogs and people. He needs a predictable environment, and a buddy dog. Interested please email an application to sanctuary@milofoundation.org Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioral issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you.
