Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas at least monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. ##2008817##

I am unfortunately having to rehome my 2 year old dog due to not fault of his own. His name is Oli and he’s a total sweetheart. He is potty trained, neutered, knows commands, and has always been a very good boy. He is a beagle australian shepard mix. He had a rough first 8 weeks as a puppy. He was part of an accident litter of puppies and they were left outside with no human interaction before I adopted him. He is the sweetest dog Ive ever met and he loves love. He is just a little anxious around new people and animals. I’m a student and had to start a new job. I don’t have anyone who can help take care of him and I myself don’t have the time anymore. Poky is ready for his very own forever home he's only a few months old and already doing really well with potty training. He's allowed to free roam with our Dogs when we aren't home, he uses pee pads while we are at work and uses the doggie door when we are home. We would love a fur sibling to tire him out. He's very food motivated and could easily be trained by someone who knows what they're doing (not us) and he would prefer to sleep with you as he is not a fan of the crate. I'm especially attached to this little guy since we are the ones who found him he's gonna be a big boy and he will make any family really happy. My humans keep me up-to-date on all my flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. I love cozy snuggles, car rides, and treats, and I’m happiest curled up on the bed or couch with my favorite people. Baths aren’t my favorite, but I tolerate them. Loud vacuums and nail clippers? No, thank you! I’m a pro at leash walking, know lots of tricks, and I’m great in my crate. I do get a bit reactive when I see other dogs on a leash, but I love playing with them off-leash! I’m looking for a forever home where I can be the center of attention. Lily Jo is currently enrolled in the 12 week Puppies 4 Parole program through the Mo Department of Corrections. She will graduate around November 22 and will be available for adoption at that time. If you are interested in adopting Lily Jo, please complete an application and the foster parent will contact you. Meet Lily a 40 pound Husky mix. Lily is a sweet girl but can be a little shy but warms up quickly. She loves everyone once she gets to know them. Lily is your typical Husky and like to talk to you. Lily also loves her toys. Lily grew up living outside so she is learning her house manners and is very happy to be living life as an inside dog. Lily is NOT good with cats so she would need a home without cats. Lily Jo’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.
