Meet Duke! He just arrived to us from one of our rescue partners in Texas. Basics: He is a neutered male guessed to be around 2 yrs old and weighs close to 43lbs. He is currently in a foster home in Kansas City, MO Adoption Process: - STEP 1: Please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application - One of our team members will get back to you via phone. - Our dogs can be seen by appointment only. We do not have a facility at this time. Dogs are in foster homes or boarding - Adoption fee is $480. It helps to cover transport costs, spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, fecal, initial worming, and microchip. -We do not place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt. NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available. About Us: Day of the Dogs is a 501c3 nonprofit. Since 2015 we have been dedicated to helping shelters increase live release. We coordinate 2 - 4 transports per month from TX, OK and AR to NW Indiana/Chicagoland and the Kansas City area. We do direct adoptions ourselves out of Kansas City and NW Indiana areas. We also partner with other rescues and shelters in IN, IL, KS and MO that are willing to help southern pets in need. We rely on donations to help fund our ongoing transports. Please donate if you can. Every dollar adds up and we are grateful for any help we can get: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/DayoftheDogs

Story
4 month old Bronx is a smart, friendly boy who loves to explore, is eager to please and gives great kisses! His wisdom panel says that he is almost half mini American Shepherd (mini Aussie) and we are not surprised. He is affectionate, he catches on to things quickly and he’s loves to go on adventures. He’s good with other dogs, up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Renee (renees@tarasdream.org) for more information about this pet. Please visit our web site at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about our adoption process.    Australian Shepherd? Boxer? Lab? We really have no idea but her reverse brindle is such a beautiful coat with the black speckles on her white paws. Salee is a precious, sweet little pup soaking up all the human attention and warmth of a home. She's holding her own with two older dogs and is not afraid to stand up for herself. Salee is a typical happy, goofy, bouncy, let's explore the world pup. She is very observant and is learning routines from the others. Salee is crate trained, she does well during the day being kenneled 4 hours at a time while the human leaves the house. She sleeps through the night keeping the kennel dry. Salee lets the human know when it's time to get up with the cutest Chewbacca vocals and gets her business done quickly outside before breakfast. She is also well on her way to house training routines. Salee will want a family who understands what it takes to welcome a puppy into the family. She'll bring the cuteness, you bring the love, attention and training. We'd love for Salee to be adopted into a family with another canine or with other dog family friends, as being abandoned so young she can gain a lot of social skills by having buddies. Approximate Birthdate:  11/15/2025 Adoption Fee: $200 TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL. Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines:  Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg) X-Large 101 lbs (46 kg) or more For more information please fill out an application.   CONTACT INFO The Animal Rescue Alliance (TARA) Web site: tarasdream.org Adoption Information & Applications: https://tarasdream.org/adopt Upcoming Adoption Events: https://tarasdream.org/events Email: email@tarasdream.org February 14, 2026, 6:30 pm

Story
If you're looking for a dog who's got the biggest heart wrapped in a fluffy, huggable package, allow us to introduce Shadow, a super sweet boy. This guy has had a tough start—spending way too much time cooped up in a kennel, which left him with some elbow sores (all healing up nicely now!) and a case of serious noise anxiety. In a town environment, every car horn or distant bark sends him into jumpy mode, like he's auditioning for a surprise party he didn't sign up for. But here's the magic: Take him out on quiet trails or just beyond the city limits, and he's your dream hiking partner! His foster family has been strolling those peaceful paths during camping trips, and he struts along like a pro—ears perked, tail wagging, totally in his element. Weekends away? Golden. Busy days with traffic and crowds? A work in progress, but oh, the potential! Leash manners are another area his family is working on—he starts off like a champ, walking politely by your side, but a sudden noise can make him bolt for the safety of the car (which, fun fact: He used to dread car rides so much he needed a little chill pill, but now? He's begging for joyrides! His foster dad Dave's truck is his safe haven on wheels. 🚗💨) He's been a total gentleman with other dogs—super passive and easygoing, letting the bossy ones (looking at you, resident Border Collie) take the lead while he chills and finds his own fun. Men? Instant fan club—his foster dad is his hero. Cats and kids? Promising but needs slow, supervised intros. Our feisty feline is still giving him the side-eye (we think it's excitement, not chase mode), and he's already won over a visiting grandson. This week, we'll be testing the waters with a toddler in the mix—fingers crossed for more tail wags! Bottom line? This boy has zero formal training under his belt yet, but with patience, positive vibes, and lots of those quiet trail walks, he's going to blossom into the most loyal, affectionate companion. His foster family is totally smitten. "I've fallen in love with him," they confessed. "He just needs time to trust the world again." And trust us—he's worth every gentle step. If you're a calm household with a yard for decompression, a love for slow-build adventures, and room in your heart (and on those trails) for a dog who's equal parts velvet cuddles and untapped explorer, could he be your guy? Shadow is vaccinated, HW negative and neutered. Location: Kansas City Area Contact: kelly@w5accounting.com Please come visit Shadow and his friends on our web page https://www.midwestbordercollierescue.org/alldogs
