Story
Meet Millie, ARPH #14446! Millie was very much loved but sadly came to us due to her owner's terminal illness. She is a seven year old spayed black tri(turning eight in January), up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. She loves all humans, greeting everyone with a wiggle, just looking for attention and petting. She is a velcro Aussie, wanting to be with her person(or at least in sight), and will be underfoot wherever that person might be. Millie is VERY food motivated as evidenced by her weigh in of 92 pounds at her vet visit! Less intake and more exercise will continue her weight loss program from a max of 106 at the end of April in her former home, although she'll be on the larger side even at a good weight. Inside that bulky body, though, is a dog that wants very much to be frisky and active. She LOVES going for walks and does nicely on leash. A fenced yard is preferred, but homes without them will be considered on an individual basis. She's not a fan of the crate and doesn't really need one, but she will go in for treats. Millie has excellent house manners and will let you know if she needs to go out. She has opinions and will sometimes vocalize them, especially if she wants treats. Given her size, it's not easy, but she will sit and down for the right treats. She does alert bark when someone comes or she hears a car go by; no one will sneak up on you with her around! Millie is fine with cats and lives with two in her foster home. She lived with other dogs in her previous home and with one now, but she can be bossy and prefers not to share toys, although she's not obsessed with them. She won't be placed with another female, but she could be okay with the right male. Millie's dream home would be with someone who is home most of the time, enjoys long walks, will give her a couch or chair where she can be comfy, and who will love her for the rest of her life. She will be a lovely companion and will be totally devoted to her person or persons. Millie is fostered near Honesdale, PA. If you are already approved, contact Kay at bluedawg7@gmail.com. If you are not already approved, please fill out an application for adoption from our website at www.aussierescue.org All interested parties MUST submit an application.

Story
Hi, my name is Zara! I am a beautiful gray and white 3-year-old Australian Shepherd Poodle mix. While ladies typically don’t disclose their weight, I am about 50 lbs. If you are a smart and active person or couple looking to adopt a dog with a similar temperament, then we could be a great match! I love going for walks and would appreciate having someone who can incorporate that into my daily routine. Getting outside for exercise is something I enjoy, and I would also make an excellent running companion. Visiting the park or going on hikes would be a lot of fun, too! Not to brag, but I believe I'm quite a looker, and I’m confident that if you took me to the park, we would make lots of friends together. While I love people, I am not used to being around other dogs, so a dog park wouldn’t be suitable for me. However, I’m always up for hanging out where the people are! I’m also a bit too energetic for young children; I sometimes forget that I'm bigger than they are and might accidentally knock them over. It would be wonderful if someone in the household could work from home, as I am crate-trained but don't like spending long hours alone. I thrive on human interaction and am seeking a loving home.  I promise to return your love! If you would like to be considered for my forever family, please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com. Please note that an approved application and adoption fee are required. (I am currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)    July 30, 2025, 9:47 pm

Story
A Message From Boone — Your Milk-Chocolate Tennessee Boy   Hi there, I’m Boone! I was born on July 4th in a little rural Tennessee town, and my foster mom says I’m as “sweet as milk chocolate” thanks to my Lab momma (a gorgeous dark chocolate girl) and my Australian Shepherd daddy. Somehow, I ended up looking like the best mix of both—soft, sweet, and full of love.  I’m still a little guy at about 15 pounds, but I’m making up for lost time. Before coming to my foster home, I didn’t have much room to grow or explore—I spent my early life mostly in a tub and then a crate and really didn't have enough food to nourish my growing puppy body. Now that I have space to run, play, learn, and be a well-fed and loved puppy, I’m soaking it all in. Foster mom says watching me discover the world has been one of her favorite things. As I grow, I’ll likely reach around 50 pounds, with long, soft fur that will be absolutely beautiful once I’m fully grown. Right now, I’m focusing on good food, building healthy muscles, and learning what love and attention really feel like—and oh boy, do I love it.    My dream home?A family that has time to show me how great life can be. A fenced yard to zoom around in, and maybe some kids to grow up with. Another dog would be amazing—I am learning lots from the adult dogs here in my foster home.  I would love to have parents who love training a smart pup  like me and because I am smart. I really do want to learn everything I can. I’ve started crate training, and I’m doing great with that. Leashes are still a bit confusing, but my foster mom says I’m trying so hard, and with gentle teaching I’ll soon realize walks are one of life’s best adventures.   I’ll be ready to go home beginning December 12th—just in time to curl up under someone’s Christmas tree and wait for Santa with my new family. My foster parents take wonderful care of me, but I know my real home is out there. I’m hoping my next car ride will be the one that takes me to my forever family—the one who will treat me like their little prince. If that sounds like you, please reach out to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com. I’ve got Christmas kisses ready and waiting.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 11, 2025, 7:13 pm
