Have you met Marty yet? He’s a handsome man with a big personality that can brighten your day. Marty was adopted but recently returned. He is a herding breed and can exhibit herding behaviors. Marty was a keen observer, paying attention to everything and everyone around him. He made friends with the other dogs and enjoys running around in a fenced area. Marty loves his walks, so if you’re an avid hiker, this guy is your perfect match! He also enjoys playing fetch, but is also happy to just sit on a bench and get some good head scratches. If you’d like to meet Marty, please ask about him!*Experienced herding breed owner*2 year oldNeuteredCurrent for yearly vaccinationsHigh energy - would do good with a jobLikes walking

Story
My name is Maggie I`m a 5 year old Australian Shepherd mix with beautiful blue eyes and I live at Lakeland Animal Shelter. I was found as a stray in June 2025 and I have been here ever since. It is really nice here, I get plenty of playtime and people take great care of me! But I would really love to have a home of my own. So my friends told me to write a letter to you and tell you my Christmas wish. All I want for Christmas is nice home where people will take care of me and play with me and brush out my beautiful fur, and give me a few treats every now and then... well maybe everyday! I`m not really a fan of cats, and I do better with older kids. I`ve been doing really well on my walks and with meeting new people. I`ve also started playing with toys and playing fetch, I didn`t know how much fun it is! I done really well in my new kennel area. And everyone tells me how proud they are of me. So thanks for reading my letter Santa, if you can help me and my friends find our furever homes that would be great! Thanks again your friend Maggie! Maggie came to the shelter as a stray in 2025•5 years old•Negative for Heart-worm •Microchip •Spayed• Would be best with no other dogs in home - toy protective •Would do best with no children

Story
Buster Brown is still learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. This handsome herding breed mix has spent a lot of time surviving on his own, and now he’s searching for someone willing to help guide him into his next chapter. Before coming to the shelter, Buster was running loose around the county for quite some time. He avoided people, traps and any attempt to catch him. Then one day, after all that time on his own, he decided he was ready to trust. He walked up to a kind stranger and hopped right into their truck asking for help. ??Since being here, Buster Brown has been slowly warming up to new people. He’s not the type of dog that instantly loves everyone he meets—and that’s okay. Herding breeds are intelligent, loyal and deeply connected to their people. Once Buster bonds with you, he bonds for life.Buster is looking for:•A home experienced with herding breeds•No little kids•Someone patient and understanding•A person willing to help direct and build his confidenceIn return, you’ll get a dog that is incredibly tuned into his person. He loves hitting the trails, stretching his legs on a good run, and working for treats (he’s VERY treat motivated!).Buster Brown doesn’t need perfection—he just needs the right person to believe in him.Ask about Buster Brown today! Adoption information ~•3 years old•Current for yearly vaccinations •Microchipped •Heartworm negative •NeuteredYou can call 262-723-1000 or email us at lakelandanimalshelter@gmail.com

Story
Name: Bert Breed: Australian Shepherd Mix Weight: 44 pounds Age: Adult Rescue: Albert’s Dog Lounge Current Location: Madison, WI Housetrained: yes Crate trained: yes – I love my crate - I sleep and eat there! Bert, or Bertski, or Bertrand, had a not so great past marked by neglect, inadequate food, and minimal human/dog interaction. He’s done with that part of his life and is ready to move on to his best life where he can shower his humans with love, go on outdoor adventures, and sleep on soft warm beds! Things Bert needs/likes: *Someone with experience with working breed dogs. Bert is experiencing a lot of new things all at once. He needs structure and guidance from someone who understands the intelligence and drive of these dogs. Bert is curious, smart, and loving. The effort spent training will be paid back in years of unconditional love. *A fenced yard. Bert’s an active boy and needs some safe space to stretch those legs. He would love to freely engage in doggy parkour! *Snuggling. In addition to being an outdoor enthusiast Bert is a master snuggler. *Other dogs. He is a good dog brother and loves other dogs. *Adult humans with active lifestyles. He loves going on hikes and long walks. *Private dog parks so he can kick out his jams without worrying about those dogs he doesn’t know, who might try to harsh his mellow. Things Bert dislikes/needs to avoid: *Picking up: Bert should not be picked up. He whips around and jerks and gets very upset if you levitate him off the ground. This is manageable with a basket muzzle. Bert’s fosters are working on counter training so this might be a thing of the past soon! *Kids are likely not a good fit. It’s not that Bert doesn’t like them, he likes everybody. But his personality can be too much for the kiddos. *Public dog parks. Bert is still learning appropriate interactions. You can't control other people or their dogs at the dog park, and we don't want to undo what strides Bert has made. *Cats are too exciting for Bert. He wants to engage and often, they.... don't. He is learning manners and how to interact, but he should likely not live in a home with kitties. Behavioral considerations: *Leash walking: Bert should be walked with a harness. He had an embedded collar when he arrived in rescue. We don’t want to put pressure on his throat/neck. He may also pull initially when he begins his walks, calming down after the initial excitement. *Car rides: Bert happily jumps in the car. He can’t wait to see where he might be going! He prefers to ride in style in a crate. *Taking treats: food is so, so good. Bert gets excited by even the most boring treats (I’ve tried Charlie Bears – trust me, they are not great). He tries to put treats in his mouth as fast as possible in case they disappear. He is learning how to take treats gently and like everything else he is learning, he’s getting better every day. *Impulse control: Bert can get overstimulated quickly. This is most likely from spending much of his life living outside without much human/canine interaction. He is learning to "dog" quite nicely and loves his dog friends. He is learning more and more every day how to interact well. If you have experience with working breed dogs, love to train and build a bond with your best friend, love to hike and snuggle in equal measures, this fun loving, loveable, funny boy might just be the one for you! Neutered Microchipped Housebroken Crate trained UTD on vaccinations UTD on preventatives Good in a car Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Story
Hi, I`m Oogie! I`m a 1 year 3 months old Shepherd mix and I weigh around 50ish lbs. I am a lover and a snuggler! I love to sit on the couch with my foster family in the evenings. When they sit down, all I want is snuggles. I walk pretty well on a leash; I`m very curious and like to get in my sniffs. I also love hanging out in the backyard and napping on the patio in the sunshine; basically, anywhere my people are, there I am. I `do my business` outside and sleep through the night in my crate. I did great with every dog and even the little puppies at our recent event at Petco, but I`m not a fan of kitties. I also did so amazing with kids and everyone that walked by. I am going to be a great family member! You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about me on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/JrsPupsNStuffInc or Instagram https://www.instagram.com/jrspupsnstuff/ Ask to meet me today!! Adoption fee: $525 All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. As required by Wisconsin Act 90, all dogs will have received a veterinarian exam (CVI) within the past 30 days. Our adoption process requires the submission of an online application at JRsPupsNStuff.org. Additional details about who we are, what we do and how to adopt can be found on our website. Story
I am part of the Designing Women litter and I`m the last of the litter. I`m 57 lbs of puppy love and energy. I play well with other dogs that match my energetic play style, and have been great at events. I love to play fetch, and then when I`m tired I will curl up in your lap for snuggles or entertain myself with a chew toy. I will sleep all night in my crate, and if you need to leave me alone in the crate I will bark for a short while before settling in for a snooze. I can be a little shy and I love to stay by my foster mom, but I`m a sucker for some good treats! I am still working on my housetraining skills, but with some consistent practice I will get there in no time - I really like to go for walks, even in the rain. Photos don`t do my beauty justice, or show how soft and sweet I am!You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about me on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/JrsPupsNStuffInc or Instagram https://www.instagram.com/jrspupsnstuff/Ask to meet me today!!Adoption fee: $525All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations.
