I am honestly the best of both breeds. Easily trainable, would make an excellent running companion . But also like to lay around like a couch potato with my family. I will independently hang out chewing on a bone, sleep on the couch, or play and have fun. I would be up for any adventure. I have a cute happy quirky personality (but not in an annoying behavior problem kind of way). I was raised in foster care, so I don’t have any strange “history”. Ive always lived with dogs and welcome any. I don’t have dominance issues. And I live with and move my kids. I am well loved! JD is a lover! We have had him since a pup and he turns 10 this September. We went back and forth on if we could keep him, but with the addition of our daughter and future children we cannot give him the attention, time, and love that he needs and deserves. He loves to be active as well as cuddle in bed. He is great to take on runs because he likes to move fast. He is very smart. He is also very food driven. He does not get along with our toddler and it has become difficult to give them both what they need. He is used to going to the bathroom outside 3-4 times a day. We want him to find a safe home with someone who can be better dog parents than us. He is truly a loving dog, but with our lifestyle deserves more. He is still so energetic and agile, you would not believe he will be 10. If you want cuddles, love, and a buddy who always wants to hang out JD is a great dog for you.

Dottie’s story has become the norm. Her owner went to a nursing home and Dottie was left homeless. Her owner loved her a lot…with food, so Dottie is currently on a weight loss journey. She has gone through a lot in a short period of time, but she hasn’t let it get her down. This 4 yr old is past the puppy stage and is potty and crate trained, but would really enjoy sleeping in bed with her new family. She loves meeting people and will show her appreciation by flipping over for a belly rub. Can you be her happily ever after? Adoption fee $400. Kenna and Cooper Bear are being fostered in St Peters MO (Bonded Pair) Kenna and Cooper Bear are a bonded pair and have been together since they were puppies. They are NOT littermates. We believe the best placement for them would be a home where they could be adopted together. They are great with other dogs, cats and kids!  The trifecta of a GOOD dog! :)  Please meet Kenna. She is a 6-year-old red merle female Australian Shepherd. She currently weighs about 74 lbs. She is a big girl who loves to go for walks and play fetch (but only with tennis balls), loves to be close to her person; a constant companion following you from room to room.  She will run between your knees and walk with you wherever you go.  Prior to rescue Kenna lived in a loving home with her companion dog Cooper.  They were surrendered to rescue due to the family not having enough time to properly care for two large dogs and a growing family. Kenna knows sit, stay, down, shake. She is always ready for a walk (will sit at door waiting for you to open) or a car ride, she rides like a dream. She loves to be petted and brushed.   She is being fostered with two other female dogs and does well with them.  She is also being fostered with her brother Cooper, a 6 year old black tri male. Kenna is house trained and crate trained.  She has done very well when left uncrated.  In her foster home, she does have access to a dog door and a fenced yard.  Kenna lived with a toddler and was a gentle giant with her. Kenna has done well with visitors in the house. Kenna is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations. She is also receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Bentley is fostered in Pleasonton, KS. Meet Bentley.  Bentley was surrendered to us when his owner had some medical issues and was unable to continue caring for him.  Bentley came in a little under-socialized and slightly overweight. Bentley is 3 year old male Australian Shepherd mix who is working towards his ideal weight of approximately 50 lbs.   Bentley needs a hero.  Bentley previously spent great deal of time in his crate.  For this reason, he did not receive proper socialization. Socialization is something his foster home has diligently been working on with him.  She has been de-sensitizing him to many things, including leash walking, grooming, other dogs and other people.  Bentley previously experienced some fears in some area, but he really has put in a lot of work and he is making wonderful progress in all areas.   Bentley is a low-key guy who is looking for an adopter who enjoys the same type of lifestyle. He prefers a home where there are less comings and goings.  We also recommend a physically fenced yard and a home that is both patient and has no children under age 12.  Bentley is a talker. The more you talk to him, the more he expresses his feelings.  Bentley is what we term a "work in progress", but he is the type of dog that will quickly become your best friend once trust is gained between you.  Are you looking for your new best friend?
