Story
Beauregard is fostered in Secor, IL.
This quirky pup’s name is Beau, short for Beauregard and he is wanting to complete your family with all the love you are willing to take! Beauregard is a 5 year old blue merle male, weighing around 55 pounds with a medium energy drive. Beau is the best “lap dog” you can find! He will either barrel into you on the couch or sneak up on your office chair thinking he is so slick. His favorite thing, however, is if you will spoon him in bed at night. He also will let you know when it is really time to get up in the morning. After all, the alarm means it’s time for more snuggles!
Beau is house trained but not crate trained. The only issue his foster home has experienced is that he can be a counter surfer, meaning he will get on the counter if food is left out. He is learning to be on leash. He thinks it’s fun to just pull so this is an area to work on in his adoptive home. His foster home is in the country - he has a fenced in area but stays in the yard. If he gets a little too far from his foster mom, she calls his name one time and he quickly returns. Talk about impeccable recall!!
Some of Beau’s favorite things are water, his squeaks, going for rides, treats and playing fetch. Water can either be a hose, sprinkler, shower, bath water or just pouring water into his bowl. Biting at any water coming out is the best thing ever for him! White he loves playing fetch with his squeaky toy, dropping it in his foster mom’s bath is the BESTEST THING EVER!
Beauregard enjoys going for a ride in the car, especially to get a pup cup. A ride in the side-by-side is WAAAAY more fun on the country roads. Beau was brought in from a shelter so not much is known about his background. Beau is a nervous pup that came in with a bit of resource guarding issues and his foster family has been working very hard on this! He has even learned to give up his bones. He likes you much better if you give them right back though.
Beau prefers not to sharing attention with his foster sister or the cat. For this reason, he would better off as on only dog and in a home without cats. Beau is very sweet and friendly, but it is important to know that he is still working on his manners, so a patient and understanding adopter is a MUST. He has been a bit hesitant of strangers at first, but he has been working on his socialization skills in his foster home and now warms up to people within minutes, especially if they throw his squeaks or yummy high value treats. Whether it’s a day of running errands or a night in chewing on his goat horn near his person, Beau will be content as can be. His future home would ideally give him the best of both worlds as he loves accompanying his foster mom all over the house.
Beau is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any prior or current pets is required to adopt from our rescue.
