Story
Finley is fostered in South Bend, Indiana. This handsome guy is Finley. He's an 8 year old tricolor tripod with blue eyes, weighing approx 35 pounds. He lost his back left leg as a pup; a result of a fracture that never healed properly. He still enjoys fetching a ball, taking a walk or a swim. When he's relaxing in his foster home, he can usually be found with a ball or stuffy in his mouth. Those are two of his favorite things. As a senior pup, he is slowing down a little bit and doesn't always feel up to handling lots of stairs. A one-level home would be best for him. Since he'll be following you; he likes to be close to his person. He came from a home with a newborn that he wasn't responding well to, so we recommend a quiet home with no children.  Finley takes daily medication for a bit of separation anxiety, which he is doing better with.  He also has Trazadone (as needed) for storms and fireworks. Finley crate trained and potty trained and rides well in the car. He'll just need help getting in. He doesn't jump on furniture either. Finley gets along with other dogs and cats. He's sometimes excitably barks if others are playing.  He is lovingly referred to as a referee. Finley is a sweet, mostly mellow who likes spending time with his human(s).  Finley would do best with an adopter who is home more often than not.   Finley's must haves: A quiet home with a mature person(s) with children under 10 years of age Someone that will continue with his daily schedule and as-needed medications.  A one-level home would be best since he's experiencing some challenges with stairs. Acknowledging that as a tripod, he may continue to have mobility issues and potentially develop some arthritis.  The ideal environment for him will allow him to spend the rest of his days in a loving home, at a slower pace, with folks that love him because is he SO deserving of this! Finley is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2705609##

Story
Bentley is fostered in Pleasonton, KS. Meet Bentley.  Bentley was surrendered to us when his owner had some medical issues and was unable to continue caring for him.  Bentley came in a little under-socialized and slightly overweight but he has come A LONG WAY! Bentley's date of birth is 9/6/2022, he is a male neutered Australian Shepherd mix who weighs 50 lbs. Bentley is silly, funny, and a bit of a goofball!  His true personality started showing up and it makes him SO adorable!  We think Bentley needs a forever home with another dog, a fenced yard and someone who will meet him where he is in his socialization, be patient with him so he can settle in and build a bond/trust with them.  Once that trust is built, watch out! He will be his goofy silly self! Bentley loves it when his foster mom asks him questions, he does this cute head tilt and cocks his ears up like he is listening to every word she says!  He is SO smart! In his prior home before coming to rescue, Bentley spent great deal of time in his crate.  For this reason, he did not receive proper socialization. Socialization is something his foster home has diligently been working on with him.  She has been desensitizing him to many things, including leash walking, grooming, other dogs and other people.  Bentley previously experienced some fears in some area, but he really has put in a lot of work and he is making wonderful progress in all areas. Bentley is in a foster home with 4 legged canine fur siblings of various ages and sizes, and does well with them.  We are unsure about cats.   Bentley is more of a low-key guy who is looking for an adopter who enjoys the same type of lifestyle. He prefers a home where there are less comings and goings.  We also recommend a physically fenced yard and a home that is both patient and has no children under age 12, and a canine companion. would be ideal for this guy. Bentley is a talker. The more you talk to him, the more he expresses his feelings.  Bentley is what we term a "work in progress", but he is the type of dog that will quickly become your best friend once trust is gained between you.  Bentley needs a hero and a new best friend.  Is that you? Bentley is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Sandi is being fostered in Ottumwa IA Introducing Sandi!  This little sweetie pie is a red bi female Australian Shepherd.  She is 36lbs and just a little thing!  Her date of birth is 3/29/2019.  At 7 years old, she is looking for a patient and loving home with another confident resident dog and a fenced yard.   Sandi came to us from an Amish farm in rural Iowa, because of that, she is a shy and timid and really still learning to be a dog; which is why she needs a confident resident dog to help show her to ropes and take cues from.  She is being fostered in a home but she gets to go to daycare everyday with her foster mom because her foster mom runs a doggie daycare.   Sandi would really like a home that will be patient with her and meet her where she is and move her foward maybe with some time to settle in and then some puppy classes, even tricks classes or nosework so she can gain some confidence.   Sandi is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases and taking monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Sheppe has excellent recall (return).  Sheppe is a VERY smart, loyal and responsive dog.  Sheppe enjoys being in a home with another dog that is playful.  Sheppe does well for grooming.  He is great in the car.  He is also crate trained and house trained.  Sheppe is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Barry is being fostered in Griffith, IN. Meet this handsome red bi boy! At 3 years old and 45 pounds, he’s the perfect mix of playful adventure buddy and loyal cuddle companion. He’s always happy, loves being around his people, and fully embraces the “Velcro Aussie” lifestyle — if you’re moving, he’s probably following right behind you. One of his favorite things in the world is playing with toys, especially durable balls. He loves and squeezes them so enthusiastically that regular balls don’t stand a chance for very long! He has a great energy level where he’s always ready for a game of fetch, but also understands when it’s time to settle down while his foster mom works or when it is time for bed. During the day, he’s content lounging nearby, keeping you company. He’s fully potty trained, has wonderful house manners, and can be left home alone without any issues. When you leave, he may give a few sad cries because he adores his people so much, but he quickly settles in for a nap. He rides beautifully in the car, happily jumps right into his crate for road trips, but also rides well loose in the vehicle. He’s incredibly affectionate and loves cuddling, belly rubs, and simply being close to his humans. He’s also very smart and eager to please. Because he’s highly treat motivated, training comes naturally to him. He already knows sit, spin, shake, lay down, leave it, and stay — and he’s continuing to improve his duration with stay every day. He enjoys walks around the neighborhood and does very well passing dogs behind fences or in homes. On busier walking paths, he can become excited when he sees other dogs and can’t go say hello, so he’s continuing to work on staying calm and quiet in those situations. While he enjoys having dog friends visit and can coexist well with other dogs, he would thrive most as the only dog in the home because he really loves having his toys all to himself. He’s looking for a home without children (or at least no children under 14) as the fast-paced energy and rough play style of kids can make him nervous and his herding instincts (a nip) kick in to try to stop the chaos. This sweet boy is deeply devoted, loving, and happiest when he’s part of his person’s everyday life. If you’re looking for a sidekick, best friend or loyal companion who will make you laugh, keep you company, and happily chase a ball for as long as you’ll throw it, he may be your perfect match.  If Barry sounds like the boy for you, please complete an adoption application today!!!!  Barry is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Benji is fostered in McFarland, WI. Benji is a 7-year-old mini Australian Shepherd weighing approximately 29 pounds, and is the perfect combination of playful companion and devoted cuddle buddy. Don’t let his age fool you—Benji still has plenty of puppy-like energy and enthusiasm for life! Benji loves going for walks, playing tug, exploring the world around him, and then curling up in your lap when it’s time to relax. He has an adorable smile that is guaranteed to brighten your day, and one of his favorite things is leaning against his people while soaking up belly rubs and affection. While Benji can be a little shy when meeting new people, he warms up quickly and forms deep bonds with those he loves. Once you’re part of his circle, you’ll have a loyal companion who wants to be by your side through all of life’s adventures. He doesn’t enjoy being far from his people and is happiest when he can spend quality time with them. Benji is a smart boy who already knows an impressive list of tricks, including sit, paw, down, roll over, spin, and wait. He is both treat and attention motivated, eager to please, and a great listener. He is fully house trained, crate trained, and can comfortably stay home alone for a few hours when needed. Like many devoted dogs, Benji can become a little jealous when sharing attention and may resource guard his favorite human with other dogs.  He is in a fostered in a home with other dogs.  However, he think he would thrive as the only dog in the home where he can enjoy being the center of his family’s world. He enjoys playing with canine friends and meets new friends easily but he appreciates having time to decompress and recharge afterward. Benji enjoys looking out the window and proudly alerting his family to any potential “dangers” outside. He loves dog chews and isn’t picky about treats or toys—if it comes from his favorite people, he’s happy. Stuffed toys, however, don’t tend to last very long around him! Benji is looking for a family that will appreciate his affectionate nature, active spirit, and unwavering loyalty. He matches the energy of his people beautifully—whether that’s a walk around the neighborhood, a game of tug, or a cozy evening on the couch. If you’re looking for a loving, intelligent, devoted companion who still has plenty of pep in his step, Benji may be your perfect match. He is truly a very good boy and is ready to find the family he can call his own. ##2805379##
