Story
Banks is fostered in Ottumwa, Iowa.  Say hello to this handsome and INCREDIBLY sweet boy named Banks. Banks is a male, standard aussie, weighing about 40 lbs and is estimated around 5 years old. Banks is a SWEET boy and would love nothing more than a home with plenty of love and another outgoing dog friend. Banks' first few years were spent with approximately 60 other dogs on a property.  When the man was getting evicted, he gave away all the dogs to random people that arrived to pick one out.  Thankfully, Banks was given to a responsible person that allowed us to take him into rescue. H is coat was in rough shape with matting and had to be shaved/  His coat has returned nicely and he looks REMARKABLE. Banks goes to doggie daycare and plays well with many other dogs. Banks will chill after a fair amount of play, chew on antlers or bones. Banks is being fostered with many other dogs and does wonderfully. Banks has great house manners; is crate trained and house trained. While Banks is a little timid and shy, he is SOOO happy and has learned SO MUCH in foster care.  He does seek out pets from his foster home and even gives a few kisses.  He also sleeps in the bed with other dogs and does VERY well being left out in the house. Banks will do best with another outgoing, social dog in the home to take cues from.  Banks does require a physically fenced yard.  Banks is even good with cats.  Little kids may scare Banks, so no children under 10 years of age.   Banks is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccines (including Lyme) and is receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm preventatives for all past and current pets is required to adopt from us.  If you have what it takes to help Banks blossom into the bestest boy, please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, see our adoption fees, and find a link to our adoption application.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.   NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##1850267##

Story
Rue is being fostered in Vandalia IL Meet Rue.  This 60 lb. STUNNING silky soft coated black tri male Australian Shepherd is looking for his forever home.  He is affectionate, sweet and oh so loving with his people.  Rue came to rescue because his previous home had a significant change in jobs and needed to travel for work way to often to be able to provide time with him. Rue is well trained with tons of skills!  He knows sit, down, stay, wait, leave it, and so many more.  He has EXCELLENT house manners and doesn't need to be crated when no one is home. He also enjoys riding in the car.  Rue needs a home with another smaller dog or to be the only pup.  He doesn't like to share his human and can be a bit protective of his human from other dogs.  He will need someone that is dog savvy and has good leadership like any other Aussie owner.  He walks well on a leash too! He is currently in a home with another Aussie and they don't see eye to eye, but he also has a small 4 legged foster sibling (Feist, small hunting dog) and she is the BOSS and they co-exist without incident.  In his previous home, Rue would go to doggie daycare for half days and had a great time!  Rue would like a quieter home with no children, no cats, maybe another dog but it would depend on the dog, and a fenced backyard of his own, or someone that would walk him each day, play with him, and occupy his mind with some mental stimulation like tricks or hide and seek.  He would be absolutely perfect for a retired couple or person that wants a well trained dog.  He would really thrive in that kind of environment.  If Rue sounds like the sidekick for you, please complete an adoption application today at https://midwestaustralianshepherdrescue.org/home/adoption-application/ ##2048348##

Story
Apollo is fostered in Salem, WI. Happy Boy Apollo, affectionally called Bubby! Bubby is an energetic, 25-pound black tricolor bob tail Australian Shepherd male, born 02/22/2024. Who could resist his little freckled face? Besides being super cute, Bubby is very loving and sweet. He is a perfect puppy package of personality, playfulness, and precociousness!  Bubby will always reassure you that he loves you by licking your face clean! Bubby would love to spend everyday with his person, loving on them and being loved on. He loves to meet new people and even enjoys playing with kids.  Playing with the other dogs and laying on the couch are some of Bubby’s favorite things to do. He knows when outside it's time to play and when inside its time to relax. Bubby has some 'pup in progress' areas and fortunately, he is learning very quickly. Bubby will sometimes pee when overly excited or when you first try to pet him. He overall has good house manners and is getting close to being potty trained.  He does well in his crate and sleeps in it at night. No doubt, with some time to get used to a new environment and bonding with his family, he will be able to spend more time out of his crate alone or with his folks at night. Bubby has a very nice recall and does well on the leash.  Bubby is ready to learn and eat all the treats given to him for being such a good boy. He came to us after his previous home recognized that they were not suited to take care of a young Australian Shepherd. Mental and physical stimulation and continued socialization are requiredb for Bubby be his best self.  Active folks who love Aussie awesomeness and appreciate all that comes withraising a puppy - the joys and the challenges - are going to adore this one. He is the dog for someone with an energetic lifestyle who sees a pup as a family member to bring along and hang out with.  What is Bubby seeking in his Forever Home?  Bubby's person(s) should be active, have herding dog or similar breed experience and confidence to meet the needs and the traits of an Aussie puppy.  They will patiently guide and lead this smart, spirited puppy, giving him time to grow into himself.  They see continued training and a lifetime of engaging their dog as a natural part of having a canine family member. Bubby would welcome another dog or pet. Bubby is currently dreaming about his future forever home, sitting on someone's special lap giving them tons of kisses and letting them know they’re loved! Does this bubbly boy make your heart burst with joy?  ##2083755##

Story
Pokey is fostered in Waukesha, WI. This handsome redhead is Pokey Loki.  Pokey is a 1.5 year old male red tri Australian Shepherd / Border Collie mix.  He currently weighs about 57 lbs and this firery redhead is looking for his person.  Pokey was an owner surrender who lived in an apartment and just didn't have the space and time for him, so they reached out for our help.   Pokey is a total sweetheart looking for his human. He is young and outgoing. He loves everyone he meets!  He is totally the guy that wants to shower you with affection, but only after you've had a couple dates.  Pokey would love another playful pup in his forever home too!  He will require someone that is home more frequently than not, and someone who simply wants a best friend to pal around with, be outdoors, and take in all that life has to offer.  Once you gain his trust., Pokey is your friend for life and he can be an expert snuggler.  Tasty meat is a way to this guy's heart.   Pokey needs to continue to socialize w the world around him but is learning all kinds of things in his foster home.  He does well with other dogs of all sizes, even small pets.  Pokey is house trained and crate trained, although the crate is not necessarily his favorite place. Because of his size, we do suggest a home with persons over 12 years of age.  Pokey would be fine in a home with another dog, but he'd be ok with all your attention too.   Pokey is ready for his next adventure.  Is that with you?  He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Pokey is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. He does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day.  Proof of heartworm purchase for any current or past pet is required to adopt. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##1915162##

Story
Goose is fostered in the St Louis, MO area.   Hi big world, my name is Goose. I am a happy, excitable, friendly 1.5 year old 38 lb mini-Aussie male with mesmerizing eyes. I am quite the “stud”. My old job ended and my new life began a little over a week ago with my foster family. I am still unsure what my new job entails. I must be doing great because I am sure getting lots of hugs, cuddles and having fun during playtime with my foster siblings and humans. I was a bit clumsy the first few days figuring out how doors operate & how to walk down stairs; this is all new to me! I am getting the hang of eating food from a bowl, walking on a lead and going outside to potty. My foster siblings sure get excited about feeding and treat time! If I drop anything, they are right there to help me clean up. I like sharing, it makes me happy to see them happy. I have been on a few adventures already. Car rides are a breeze! I visited the marina by the lake and met some very nice humans; little ones kept asking to pet me!  I am definitely loving all this attention. My favorite time is cuddle-time in a comfy bed with my family watching tv shows. I am getting used to my crate when my humans are gone. But I prefer being right by their side, even in the shower; I am a great wing-man! So any of you flyboys looking for a co-pilot, I am your guy! Goose is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccines, microchipped and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. He does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2083711##

Story
GEMMA IS BEING FOSTERED IN BLOOMINGTON IL Meet our precious Gem who has MASTERED her puppy dog stare!  Our sweet Gemmy girl was found in a field as a stray, so not much is known about her history. We think she is around 2 years old as she is playful and has a lot of energy! What we have discovered so far in foster care is that our wigglebutt is GOOFY, and she has a high prey-drive with smaller animals; therefore, a house without cats and smaller dogs is crucial for her to thrive.  We have also learned that her favorite spot, undeniably, is against her person on the couch snuggled in for a warm movie night. She is an EXPERT cuddler and would love nothing more than to spend her evenings snuggled up to her person rubbing her head, chest and belly! Gemma weighs around 45 lbs, and she is very active and playful. While she loves a chill night in, she equally loves running around the house showing off all her stuffies and squeaky toys! Since Gemma is cautious around new people and places, this kind of exercise is ideal for her as well as short walks around the neighborhood! Her foster family uses these walks as opportunities to teach Gem that the outside world is not so big and scary when you’re by the side of someone who loves you! Gemma appears to be afraid of strangers, but with patience and a lot of treats, her foster family is showing her that strangers can be warm and welcoming too! She has made TREMENDOUS progress in her foster home, meeting new people, hearing new sounds and experiencing all the world has to offer. We would highly suggest that anyone who'd be present in her adoptive home utilize the time and patience to get to know her and invest in earning her trust. The reward is worth it! A strong, confident leader paired with deli meat treats and lots of pets is Gem’s recipe for success. Speaking of treats, it is important to know that Gemma has shown ZERO food aggression, and is perfectly fine taking treats from your hand once you have gained her trust, making training and confidence-building easier! We are looking for the perfect adopter who will not only be gentle and understanding with Gemma as she learns how to navigate a new adoptive life, but someone who will guide her, continue her training, and someone who will soak up all her hugs and kisses along the way! And there will be TONS! Because of our quirky girl's energy level, and her high prey drive, she will require a home without small animals and kids under the age of 12. Loud or sudden movements can be scary for our girl, so we try to reduce them whenever possible.  Gemma is potty trained and crate trained, putting herself in her kennel at night. Don't let this fool you though, our Gem is able to be left out when leaving the house as she does not get into mischief, but crate training has given her a safe spot to go if she gets overwhelmed. In Gem’s world, there is nothing better than kenneling up with a frozen carrot at the end of the night! Gemmy girl loves toys and bones and shares nicely with her four legged foster brother, Ernie. Fetch and chase are two of her favorite games to play. While Gem loves to run around the backyard and go for walks in the neighborhood, a big action such as traveling in the car is still a bit scary for sweet Gemma. This being said, someone who is home more often than not to give her love and attention and willing to work on her socialization skills/training is a must!  Our spitfire has lots of personality quirks such as “talking” or “grumbling” when she wants attention and placing herself directly at your feet for kisses on the head! Ideally, her furever home will be active, but predominantly quiet as Gemma can become stressed when she sees/hears other dogs at a distance. She is very perceptive to sudden noises such as heavy machinery outside or other dogs in the area barking. Because of this, we recommend a home where there are not a lot of people coming and going at all times/other dogs barking around her. She is definitely an energetic, talkative gal and would love a pup sibling or two if they were larger and will welcome a spunky little sister coming into their home!  Gemma is being fostered in Bloomington, IL, She is spayed and up-to-date on all shots and preventatives, she is a highly velcro Aussie who will follow her person anywhere, and she is a TOTAL lover. Are you the perfect match for her?  Gemma's NEEDS A home without young kids/small animals A fenced-in yard to exercise freely A dedicated adopter(s) to continue training and socialization  All the kisses and cuddles one can offer Gemma's WANTS A larger pup sibling that is good with other dogs A quieter home without much coming and going A spot on the couch next to her best friend for life! Gemma is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on all shots and preventatives, she is a highly velcro Aussie who will follow her person anywhere, and she is a TOTAL lover. Are you the perfect match for her? If you are interested in Gemma becoming a part of your family, fill out an adoption application today at https://midwestaustralianshepherdrescue.org/home/adoption-application/ ##1823568##
