Story
Banks is fostered in Ottumwa, Iowa.  Say hello to this handsome and INCREDIBLY sweet boy named Banks. Banks is a male, standard aussie, weighing about 40 lbs and is estimated around 5 years old.  Banks is being fostered with many other dogs and does wonderfully.  Banks is a SWEET boy and would love nothing more than a home with plenty of love and another dog friend.  Banks has great house manners; is crate trained and house trained.  Prior to coming into rescue, his coat was in rough shape with matting and had to be shaved.  His coat is returning nicely and he looks remarkable compared to several months ago. Banks goes to doggie daycare and plays well with many other dogs. Banks will chill after a fair amount of play, and chew on antlers or bones.  Banks is from a breeder who was giving away a massive amount of dogs from his property and based on this, he was not well socialized,.  Banks is a little timid and shy, but learning SO MUCH.  He does seek out pets from his foster home and even gives a few kisses.  He also sleeps in the bed with other dogs and does VERY well being left out in the house.    Banks will do best with another outgoing, social dog in the home to take cues from.  Banks does require a physical fencing, preferred to be 6 foot.  Banks is even good with cats.  Little kids may scare Banks, so no children under 10 years of age is recommended for his adoptive home.   Banks is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccines (including Lyme) and is receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm preventatives for all past and current pets is required to adopt from us.  If you have what it takes to help Banks blossom into the bestest boy, please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, see our adoption fees, and find a link to our adoption application.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.   ##1850267##

Story
GEMMA IS BEING FOSTERED IN BLOOMINGTON IL This little snuggle bug's name is Gemma, and she is a precious gem who has MASTERED her puppy dog stare!  Our sweet Gemmy girl was found in a field as a stray, so not much is known about her history. What we have discovered so far in foster care is that she has a lot of playful energy and has a high prey-drive with smaller animals, therefore, a house without cats and smaller dogs is crucial for her to thrive. We have reason to believe that at one point or another, Gemma did have an owner as she knows some basic commands instinctively and is an expert fetch player! We have also learned that her favorite spot, undeniably, is against her person on the couch snuggled in for a movie night. She is an EXPERT cuddler and would love nothing more than to spend her evenings snuggled up next to her person on the couch. Gemma weighs around 45 lbs, and she is very active and playful. While she loves a warm night in, cuddled around her person, she equally loves a rousing game of fetch! Since Gemma is cautious with new people and places, this kind of exercise is ideal for her as well as short walks around the neighborhood. Gemma initially appears to be afraid of men, although it only took about a week before she started melting into her foster dad’s arms on a regular basis, and she now snuggles with him every night! She has met a handful of women in her house and even stayed the night with one of them, showing just how easily she does warm up and can fall in love! While it is not absolutely necessary that she be placed in a home without men, we would highly suggest that anyone who'd be present in her adoptive home utilize the time and patience to get to know her and earn her trust. Deli meat treats certainly help! Speaking of treats, it is important to know that Gemma has shown zero food aggression, and is perfectly fine taking treats from your hand once you have gained her trust, making training and confidence-building easier. We are looking for the perfect adopter who will not only be gentle and understanding with Gemma as she learns how to navigate life, but someone who will guide her, continue her training, and someone who will soak up all her hugs and kisses along the way! Because of our quirky girl's energy level, and her high prey drive, we recommend a home without kids under the age of 12. She is still learning certain manners, and as of now she can jump to around 3 or 4 ft in the air when trying to give a hug! Gemma is potty trained and crate trained, and she sleeps in her kennel at night. Her foster family believes she would be fine to be left out at night as she has not been destructive in the slightest, but crate training has given her a safe spot to go when she gets overwhelmed or overstimulated. Gemmy girl loves toys and bones and shares nicely with her four legged foster brother, Ernie. Fetch and chase are two of her favorite games to play. Walking on a leash / traveling in the car for long periods of time are still two very scary actions for sweet Gemma, so someone who is home more often than not and/or willing to work on her socialization skills/training is a must!  Ideally, her furever home would be calm and quiet as Gemma can become stressed when she sees other dogs at a distance, and she is very perceptive to all noises such as heavy machinery outside or other dogs in the area barking. Because of this, we recommend a home where there are not a lot of people coming and going at all times/other dogs barking around her. She is definitely an energetic, talkative gal (making lots of cute puppy groans and pleads for pets and lovin’) and would love a pup sibling or two if they were larger and ok with a spunky spitfire coming into their home!  Gemma's NEEDS A home without young kids/small animals A fenced-in yard to exercise freely A dedicated adopter(s) to continue training and socialization  All the kisses and cuddles one can offer Gemma's WANTS A larger pup sibling that is good with other dogs to play with A quieter home without much coming and going A spot on the couch next to her best friend for life! Gemma is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on all shots and preventatives, she is a highly velcro Aussie who will follow her person anywhere, and she is a TOTAL lover. Are you the perfect match for her? If you are interested in Gemma becoming a part of your family, fill out an adoption application today at https://midwestaustralianshepherdrescue.org/home/adoption-application/ ##1823568##

Story
Cooper is being fostered in Griffith IN This STUNNING boy is Cooper!  He is a standard blue merle male Australian Shepherd.  Cooper weighs 41lbs and is on the smaller side of a standard.  He was a stray and came from Animal Control.  Our vet tells us he is about 1-2 years old.  Cooper has transitioned to home life perfectly! When he first came to us, he didn't know very much, but as you know, Aussies are SUPER smart so he has learned SO much about having good house manners.  Cooper is crate trained, potty trained and walks well on leash.  He gets a little excited on his walks when he sees friends: humans, other dogs, squirrels, etc. His foster mom has been training him on a gentle leader and he is doing well with this!  Cooper LOVES toys!  Stuffed toys, tugs and frisbee!  Cooper will need an assortment of toys in his forever home. His foster mom took him to an agility club to try him on some of the equipment and he picked it up quickly!  No surprise there!  He enjoys a challenge, learning new things and is highly food motivated.  Cooper likes to also play fetch, but he hasn't quite learned how to drop it yet, he would rather play chase me!  Cooper really enjoys playing with other dogs, so a doggie playmate would be nice but not needed for him.  Cooper is crated during the day while his foster parents are at work and does well when his people are away. Cooper is still very much an active pup that will need an active family.  Someone that will commit to a minimum of 2 hours a day with him.  We do ot recommend super young children with Cooper only because of his exhuberance, he might knock them over accidentally.  Cooper is a 7 on the 1-10 scale of activity.  While he could be a great jogging partner, agility partner, hiking anfd camping partner, he does have a nice off switch.   Cooper is still learning that vacuums, baths, nail trims, brushing are not scary.  He will need continued postiive desensitization to these things and they are a 2 man job in his foster home with lick mats while the other human does the grooming.   Cooper is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases and taking monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  If you are interested in this handsome boy, please complete an adoption application by clicking HERE ##1944129##

Story
Presley is being fostered in Owatonna MN Meet Presley. This sweetheart is a black bi standard Australian Shepherd.  She weighs 48l bs and her  estimated date of birth is 7/1/2019.  Presley originally came into rescue at a wee 6 months old because of a breeder shutdown in southern IL.  She has returned to rescue because her adoptive mom was diagnosed with a medical condition and is unable to care for her.  It has nothing to do with Presley and she only wanted what was best for her.   Miss Presley is a calm, shy, affectionate pup that loves to be around her person. She is a velcro dog that prefers to have someone around all the time. Presley is timid at first but is quick to warm up to people and other dogs given a little bit of time and, of course, something yummy to eat. She prefers to be around female people as that's what she was used to. She loves to be outside but can gets a bit nervous with new sounds. She would best fit with a calm family - maybe a stay-at-home individual and no young kids.  She would love nothing more than to have a human to be a sidekick to. Presley is super affectionate and LOVES to cuddle. Presley is a bit sound sensitive in her foster home and does spook easy with loud sounds so a fenced in yard is a MUST for her.  She would just love a mom to call her own and would be fine with a dad, as long as he takes to the time to get to know her and is patient with her, giving her all the treats she can handle to feel more comfortable. Presley is potty trained, crate trained and great house manners. She LOVES attention, pets and praise, gets a little jealous of other dogs getting attention around her but loves to play outside with her dog friends in her foster home. Does she sound like your dream girl? She is still an Australian Shepherd, and while she is bit more low key, she still needs daily mental and physical stimulation to truly be happy.  Presley is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases, microchipped and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  If this little lady sounds like your next sidekick, please complete an adoption application by clicking HERE.   ##2005402##

Story
Allie is fostered in Portage, IN.   This little rolly polly is Allie.  Don't tell her we called her that because she's been dieting and taking her weightloss journey very serious.  She packed on a few pounds at her former home because the little one's started arriving and she then became less of a priority.  Allie is an incredibly sweet mini aussie female that is 8 years young and SHOULD weigh about 28--35 lbs at her ideal weight.   Allie came to us quite overweight so she's been working hard at shedding those extra pounds. Allie has a delightful girl with a sweet personality.  She is in a foster home with dogs of all sizes and ages and does excellent with them.  She hasn't met any kitties, but we think she would do ok with a dog-savvy cat.  Allie is, however, terrified of tiny humans.  Her adoptive home should be one without little kiddos present or that do not visit often. Children over age 12 are recommended.   Allie is accustomed to the good life - she does enjoy her bones, her car rides, her treats and sleeping on the bed in her foster home - as any great princess should.  Allie would love a more laid back retirement home, if you will, where she can continue her walks (exercise) and a little playtime in the back yard.  Allie is crate trained, but does great being left out.  She is potty trained as well.  She has also done well for grooming Allie is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations, microcrhipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm purchase for any current or former pets is required to adopt from our rescue.  If you feel this princess is just what you're looking for, please visit our website for more information.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue..  org ##1966673##

Story
Tuffy is fostered in Moberly, MO. Tuffy is an adorable pint-sized aussie in need of an adopter.  Tuffy was previously at an Amish facility and we snagged him up.  Tuffy is a male, black tri toy australian shepherd.  He is estimated at 1 year old, weighing 16 lbs.  Tuffy is learning all kinds of new things in his foster home, as he was previously more of an outside dog.  He is a SUPER sweet boy! Tuffy is house trained, crate trained, and in a home with other dogs of various sizes.  He also is good with kitties.  He is also learning to play with both dogs and cats.  We do suggest a fenced yard.  We also recommend a home with children that are over 10 years of age.   Tuffy was positive for Lyme, and is being treated for it.  He is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccines, and heartworm negative.  He is also microchipped.  If you feel like you have what it takes for this pint sized cutie, please visit our website for more information.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2006003##
