Story
Bentley is fostered in Pleasonton, KS. Meet Bentley.  Bentley was surrendered to us when his owner had some medical issues and was unable to continue caring for him.  Bentley came in a little under-socialized and slightly overweight but he has come A LONG WAY! Bentley's date of birth is 9/6/2022, he is a male neutered Australian Shepherd mix who weighs 50 lbs. Bentley is silly, funny, and a bit of a goofball!  His true personality started showing up and it makes him SO adorable!  We think Bentley needs a forever home with another dog, a fenced yard and someone who will meet him where he is in his socialization, be patient with him so he can settle in and build a bond/trust with them.  Once that trust is built, watch out! He will be his goofy silly self! Bentley loves it when his foster mom asks him questions, he does this cute head tilt and cocks his ears up like he is listening to every word she says!  He is SO smart! In his prior home before coming to rescue, Bentley spent great deal of time in his crate.  For this reason, he did not receive proper socialization. Socialization is something his foster home has diligently been working on with him.  She has been desensitizing him to many things, including leash walking, grooming, other dogs and other people.  Bentley previously experienced some fears in some area, but he really has put in a lot of work and he is making wonderful progress in all areas. Bentley is in a foster home with 4 legged canine fur siblings of various ages and sizes, and does well with them.  We are unsure about cats.   Bentley is more of a low-key guy who is looking for an adopter who enjoys the same type of lifestyle. He prefers a home where there are less comings and goings.  We also recommend a physically fenced yard and a home that is both patient and has no children under age 12, and a canine companion. would be ideal for this guy. Bentley is a talker. The more you talk to him, the more he expresses his feelings.  Bentley is what we term a "work in progress", but he is the type of dog that will quickly become your best friend once trust is gained between you.  Bentley needs a hero and a new best friend.  Is that you? Bentley is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2407689##

Story
Schwartzy is being fostered in Waukesha WI Meet Schwartzy.  This stunning all black Australian Shepherd mix boy is a super sensitive soul, with his gold eyes that just melt your heart.  He came to us from a shelter where he was returned twice in his short little life. This boy wouldn't mind another canine companion in his home to play with but he could also be an only dog. This boy could be your lapdog or your backyard play buddy.  Schwartzy is potty trained and crate trained and likes his crate.   He is a small, young and insecure boy, just over a year old and is still working through some of his fears. He weighs in at just 40 lbs.  He will need a patient adopter that is willing to help him through some of these fears with calm, positive, clear leadership and dog handling skills. Once a bond is formed, he loves his person with all of his being.  We believe he was previously on a shock collar because he has some sensitivities with his neck being "grabbed" or any leash pressure on his neck.  His foster mom has been working with him to desensitize this specifically, but it is a work in progress for him.  In his foster home, he lives with many other dogs, cats, a bird and horses.  He does just fine with all those animals.  NEEDS FOR HIS FOREVER HOME: He would prefer a quieter country style or rural setting where there isn't a ton of commotion.  We also believe he needs children over the age of 14 in his home or no children at all. We recommend a physically fenced yard would also be important for him.   Do you have what it takes to give this boy a home and help him overcome his fears?  He is looking for a special human to be his forever.  He needs you!! Schwartzy is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Cami is fostered in Oconomowoc, WI Cami is a beautiful black tri Toy/Mini Australian Shepherd, born 11/22/2021, weighing approximately 18 pounds. She is a resilient puppy mill survivor who is learning what it truly means to be loved, safe, and part of a family.  For the first few years of her life, Cami lived in a puppy mill where she repeatedly had litters of puppies. After finally being released, she briefly had a loving owner who sadly passed away before she had fully learned how to be a dog. Since then, Cami has been in foster care where she continues making incredible progress every day. Last year, Cami found what everyone hoped would be her forever home with an older couple who adored her. Unfortunately, due to serious health issues and a long rehabilitation stay, her adopter can no longer care for her, and she is once again looking for a forever family.  Despite everything she has been through, Cami is gentle, sweet, and eager to bond. Once she trusts you, she loves snuggling on the couch, giving kisses, rolling over for belly rubs, and sleeping close to her people. Belly rubs are one of her absolute favorite things. Because of her past, fast movements still make her nervous. When someone stands up or moves suddenly, she may bark and follow behind them. Her foster family has worked hard with her, and she has already made amazing progress. Cami wants so badly to feel safe, and with patience and consistency, she continues gaining confidence. A few things about Cami: • Loves other dogs and would do best with a confident dog companion• Recommed a physically fenced yard• Learning to walk on a leash and improving daily• Will happily follow you from room to room• Does not chew things that aren’t hers• Wakes up each morning ready to go outside and potty• Human touch is still new to her and must be on her terms• Kids are interesting to her, but she prefers calm environments Cami would do best with someone who is willing to put in the training to continue her calming skills.  As she is more vocal and has some nervous energy, we feel she would do best in a calmer environment with someone willing to put in some extra training with her.  She also does better with a female caregiver over men, who still scare her a bit.   Cami is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. She does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2308426##

Story
Junior pka 50 Scent is fostered in Waukesha, WI. Meet Junior!  Born February 5, Junior may be a little taller than his siblings—but it’s his big personality that really makes him stand out! This adorable Aussie mix is the perfect blend of snuggly and playful. He loves to be right by your side, whether you’re relaxing on the couch or getting things done—he’s your little “helper” who just wants to tag along for the adventure. Junior is curious, affectionate, and full of charm. He’s also quite the talker and will happily “sing” along with you, making him as entertaining as he is lovable. He enjoys playing with other dogs and people, and he’s been exposed to dogs of all sizes, doing great with everyone he meets. He’s also been tested with kids and cats and has done wonderfully. Junior’s mom, an Aussie mix, came into rescue as a pregnant stray, so dad is a mystery—but based on the litter’s smaller size, we believe he may have been a smaller breed. He’s doing great with potty training and is already showing how smart and eager he is—Junior listens well and truly wants to make his people happy, which will make training a rewarding experience for his future family.  Like any puppy, he’s still learning and will need a home ready to guide him with patience, consistency, and lots of love. If you’re looking for a curious, cuddly, and fun-loving companion who will keep you smiling (and maybe singing), Junior might just be your perfect match! Even at this young age, these puppies are starting early socialization and gaining confidence as they explore the world around them. They are being exposed to normal household activity and human interaction to help set them up for success in their future homes. Because they are young puppies, they will need families who are committed to continuing their development. This includes: Ongoing socialization Positive training Potty training Plenty of exercise and mental stimulation Junior is up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2654831##

Story
Finley is fostered in South Bend, Indiana. This handsome guy is Finley. He's an 8 year old tricolor tripod with blue eyes, weighing approx 35 pounds. He lost his back left leg as a pup; a result of a fracture that never healed properly. He still enjoys fetching a ball, taking a walk or a swim. When he's relaxing in his foster home, he can usually be found with a ball or stuffy in his mouth. Those are two of his favorite things. As a senior pup, he is slowing down a little bit and doesn't always feel up to handling lots of stairs. A one-level home would be best for him. Since he'll be following you; he likes to be close to his person. He came from a home with a newborn that he wasn't responding well to, so we recommend a quiet home with no children.  Finley takes daily medication for a bit of separation anxiety, which he is doing better with.  He also has Trazadone (as needed) for storms and fireworks. Finley crate trained and potty trained and rides well in the car. He'll just need help getting in. He doesn't jump on furniture either. Finley gets along with other dogs and cats. He's sometimes excitably barks if others are playing.  He is lovingly referred to as a referee. Finley is a sweet, mostly mellow who likes spending time with his human(s).  Finley would do best with an adopter who is home more often than not.   Finley's must haves: A quiet home with a mature person(s) with children under 10 years of age Someone that will continue with his daily schedule and as-needed medications.  A one-level home would be best since he's experiencing some challenges with stairs. Acknowledging that as a tripod, he may continue to have mobility issues and potentially develop some arthritis.  The ideal environment for him will allow him to spend the rest of his days in a loving home, at a slower pace, with folks that love him because is he SO deserving of this! Finley is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Sandi is being fostered in Ottumwa IA Introducing Sandi!  This little sweetie pie is a red bi female Australian Shepherd.  She is 36lbs and just a little thing!  Her date of birth is 3/29/2019.  At 7 years old, she is looking for a patient and loving home with another confident resident dog and a fenced yard.   Sandi came to us from an Amish farm in rural Iowa, because of that, she is a shy and timid and really still learning to be a dog; which is why she needs a confident resident dog to help show her to ropes and take cues from.  She is being fostered in a home but she gets to go to daycare everyday with her foster mom because her foster mom runs a doggie daycare.   Sandi would really like a home that will be patient with her and meet her where she is and move her foward maybe with some time to settle in and then some puppy classes, even tricks classes or nosework so she can gain some confidence.   Sandi is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases and taking monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.
