Dottie’s story has become the norm. Her owner went to a nursing home and Dottie was left homeless. Her owner loved her a lot…with food, so Dottie is currently on a weight loss journey. She has gone through a lot in a short period of time, but she hasn’t let it get her down. This 4 yr old is past the puppy stage and is potty and crate trained, but would really enjoy sleeping in bed with her new family. Story

Ella (formerly called Bella) is fostered in Sioux City, IA Meet Miss Ella Girl – a handsome black and tan Aussie lady with a full fluffy tail! Ella was dropped off in the shelter by someone who claimed to have found her – but turned out to be her owner who had abused her for four years. The timid girl was thin, sick and afraid of everything but was looking for love. When we brought her home, she jumped on the couch right away and tried to be a lap dog. Ella is a 4 year old female Australian Shepherd with a gorgeous tail. Despite her history, Ella loves people, other dogs, and cats. Now at 50 pounds, Ella has put on some weight, gained confidence, and is now spayed. She loves to snuggle, get belly rubs, and play in the yard with other dogs. She is still timid about some things. she eyes the hairbrush with much distrust but has learned to enjoy some brushing. She does not like her paws touched too much, but doesn't fuss about nail trim and has learned (somewhat reluctantly) to shake a paw and receive a treat. Ella goes to kennel willingly but does not like to have the kennel door closed. She is intelligent and learns fast, so further training will come easily. Ella is housebroken and has never had an accident in the house. She loves to take walks and is great on the leash. She is not destructive in the home, but may occasional consider counter surfing. She is a real cuddler and would like to sleep in the bed with people but is also OK sleeping in her own bed or on the couch. Like most Aussies, Ella eats everything and is especially fond of vegetables – cabbage, cucumbers, broccoli – all these are treats! Luckily, he has not figured out that these he could eat them straight from the garden. He also loves trash – especially plastic. Shee won’t eat it, but she loves to chew it – bottle caps, chapstick, pens, and such. Ella can be a bit timid when first when meeting new people but warms up to them quite fast. (Treats help!). Ella loves to play with other dogs and gets along well with the other two resident Aussies. Sometimes the play gets rambunctious and loud because Ella does love to bark! She can get a little snappy during play, but a calm correction of “no teeth” and shewill back off. Because of this, she is probably not the best fit with little children. Ella loves cats – and usually does not chase them - most of the time the resident cat is ignored. She has done great on car rides. We also recommend a physically fenced yard with an adopter who will continue the training and love she has received in her foster home. She is 100% certifiably adorable. Ella needs: A home with a secure, fenced-in yard A dedicated owner to lover her, give her confidence, and continue her training Ella Wants: Someone who will snuggle and rub her belly and take him out for walks Ella is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. She does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day. Dandy is being fostered in Arlington Heights IL Introducing Dandy! This gorgeous hunk is a one-year-old male black tri Australian Shepherd who weighs about 40 pounds and has a huge heart packed into a fun, goofy package. He’s affectionate, playful, and deeply attached to his people. Dandy is a Velcro dog who wants to be wherever you are. He came to rescue because he was found as a stray in a rural part of MO. The finder reached out after exhausting all avenues to try to find his humans. He got his name because the volunteer that evaluated him before intake said how Dandy he was! We just think he is delightful and still learning about the world around him. Personality & energy Playful, goofy, and very loving High energy but settles nicely after playtime (off switch) Loves to run, jump, and zoom around Enjoys quietly watching neighbors out the window Loves cuddling and sleeping "sunny side up" (belly-up) Would be a great fit for an active home and we recommend a home that has some experience with Aussies or other herding dogs. People & other pets Fantastic with other dogs and would love a canine buddy. Dandy loves playing with the other dog in his foster home. He has not been tested with cats. Can be nervous/unsure with new people at first, but warms up quickly with treats. He is totally food motivated! Can get overwhelmed in high-activity environments (like cleaning or having visitors) and will go to his crate to feel safe. Would do best with children over 12 who can give him space to decompress and feel safe when needed. Very affectionate - expect hugs, kisses, and constant pawing for pets. Super affectionate stud muffin! Training & daily life Has standard puppy energy but very well behaved for a young pup (house-trained, not destructive, doesn’t chew). Often will jump up or on people to greet them, but he is learning to sit for attention and picks up on skills very quickly! Enjoys car rides and sits very nicely in the back of cars. Good leash manners, though he does believe every smell deserves a moment to investigate. Sniff walks are SO important for enrichment! Seems to have great recall but is very fast so a fenced in yard would be helpful. Loves his crate for relaxation and bedtime, but gets a little nervous when left alone in a crate or room. He will bark/cry, though a long-lasting chew or enrichment toy can sometimes help him settle. He does very well when left to free roam with another dog while his people are away. Ideal Home Dandy would do best in a home excited to share life and continue training an affectionate, high-energy dog who wants to be part of everything. His new family should be familiar with the traits of herding breeds and prepared for his bursts of energy. He is very smart/agile and would do wonderfully in training or agility classes! A fenced yard would be a great outlet for his zoomies, but he’d be just as happy burning energy through daily walks, playtime, and training. He’d love a canine buddy to learn from and play with He'll thrive with a patient family willing to work through his separation anxiety and help him gain confidence around new people Above all, Dandy is looking for a home that's ready for a loyal shadow and devoted lifelong companion. Dandy MUST have a crate in his forever home because he likes it and its his safe space. Dandy SHOULD have someone familiar with the breed that is willing to continue positively socializing him with the world. Dandy WOULD love a canine compantion, a fenced yard and someone that understands Aussies. Bentley is fostered in Pleasonton, KS. Meet Bentley. Bentley was surrendered to us when his owner had some medical issues and was unable to continue caring for him. Bentley came in a little under-socialized and slightly overweight but he has come A LONG WAY! Bentley is 3 year old male Australian Shepherd mix who is working towards his ideal weight of approximately 50 lbs. Bentley previously spent great deal of time in his crate. For this reason, he did not receive proper socialization. Socialization is something his foster home has diligently been working on with him. She has been desensitizing him to many things, including leash walking, grooming, other dogs and other people. Bentley previously experienced some fears in some area, but he really has put in a lot of work and he is making wonderful progress in all areas. Bentley is in a foster home with several other dogs of ages and sizes, and does well with them. We are unsure about cats. Bentley is more of a low-key guy who is looking for an adopter who enjoys the same type of lifestyle. He prefers a home where there are less comings and goings. We also recommend a physically fenced yard and a home that is both patient and has no children under age 12. Bentley is a talker. The more you talk to him, the more he expresses his feelings. Bentley is what we term a "work in progress", but he is the type of dog that will quickly become your best friend once trust is gained between you. Are you looking for your new best friend? Bearett aka Bearr is fostered in Beloit, WI Please meet the SWEETEST and MOST gentle boy named Bearette, called Bearr for short. He was sent to the shelter when his owner went to jail. This boy is the epitome of Velcro and he is a laid back guy who would LOVE to have a family of his own. Bearr is a blue merle standard male Australian Shepherd. He is 6 years young and approximately 50-55 lbs of nothing but love. Bearr is not much of a barker and he is very well behaved. He is potty trained with no accidents whatsoever. Bearr does go in his crate as a place to relax, but he prefers to have the door left open. He sits when asked, and will not dart out the door or run away. He is not the biggest fan of the leash, and he does do well off-leash, but his leash walking could use a little practice. Bearr is not an excitable dog, meaning he does not jump or tremble when he hears loud noises. Bearr has met several several strangers while in foster care. He greeted everyone with a full body wiggle and happy hello. Bearr would prefer a family that is home more often than not. He would make a great dog for a senior couple that just wants a boy to dote on. He has beautiful chestnut brown eyes except for a icy blue patch in his right eye which gives him a different, yet unique, look about him. He reminds us of Mr. Moose from Kaptain Kangaroo. While Bearr is great with other dogs, he would love to have you all to himself. He is SUPER Velcro. Bearr is good with cats because he doesn't really engage with them. Bearr has done great for car rides, grooming and vet appointents. Are you looking for a gentle sidekick to join you on some errands, visits to the hardware stores, or trips to the coffee shop?
