Story
Banks is fostered in Ottumwa, Iowa.  Say hello to this handsome and INCREDIBLY sweet boy named Banks. Banks is a male, standard aussie, weighing about 40 lbs and is estimated around 5 years old.  Banks is being fostered with many other dogs and does wonderfully.  Banks is a SWEET boy and would love nothing more than a home with plenty of love and another dog friend.  Banks has great house manners; is crate trained and house trained.  Prior to coming into rescue, his coat was in rough shape with matting and had to be shaved.  His coat is returning nicely and he looks remarkable compared to several months ago. Banks goes to doggie daycare and plays well with many other dogs. Banks will chill after a fair amount of play, and chew on antlers or bones.  Banks is from a breeder who was giving away a massive amount of dogs from his property and based on this, he was not well socialized,.  Banks is a little timid and shy, but learning SO MUCH.  He does seek out pets from his foster home and even gives a few kisses.  He also sleeps in the bed with other dogs and does VERY well being left out in the house.    Banks will do best with another outgoing, social dog in the home to take cues from.  Banks does require a physical fencing, preferred to be 6 foot.  Banks is even good with cats.  Little kids may scare Banks, so no children under 10 years of age is recommended for his adoptive home.   Banks is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccines (including Lyme) and is receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm preventatives for all past and current pets is required to adopt from us.  If you have what it takes to help Banks blossom into the bestest boy, please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, see our adoption fees, and find a link to our adoption application.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.   ##1850267##

Story
Buttercup is being fostered in Coldwater MI. Introducing Miracle's Lovely Litter's black bi female, Buttercup.   This Mini black bi American Shepherd with a tail is looking for her forever home.   She and her siblings were born into rescue on 01/09/2024.  Their coats are a bit shorter as they are likely from working breed lines, but their coats will grow as they do.  She will likely get no bigger than 30-35 lbs once grown. We have both Momma Miracle (a 28lb. red tri Mini American Shepherd) and Daddy Dream (a 30lb blue merle Mini American Shepherd) in rescue.  Both parents have EXCELLENT temperament!  Buttercup is going to need a home that is active, willing to continue her socialization with various stimuli, provide mental and physical stimulation, continue her potty and crate training and love her.  If Aussies/MAS are not properly socialized they can become guard dogs, so making sure that they have been properly socialized with humans, other dogs and MANY different kinds of stimuli is CRITICAL to raising a well rounded dog.   Buttercup is up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and dewormed.  Have you been looking for love in all the wrong places?  Look no further, this girl can be your best friend and sidekick! Story
Peanut is being fostered in Lansing IL.  This ADORABLE lil black tri guy is Peanut.  His date of birth is 5/8/2021.  He is a toy sized Australian Shepherd.  He weighs 15lbs and is learning to be a dog!  He is SUPER sweet but was poorly socialized by the breeder because he was a stud dog before coming to rescue.  Since coming to rescue, Peanut has learned that people come with yummy things to eat called treats.  When he first got to his foster home, he was super scared, but he has a confident resident foster dog and he takes tons of cues from her.  He loves car rides, loves to go for walks and loves to play with other dogs.  In his forever home, we will need a dog similar to his foster sister that is confident, playful and will show him that the world isn't such a scary place or even a pack to be a part of.  He would LOVE that.   Peanut needs a home that isn't too busy with tons of people and comings and goings.  He needs his human to be gentle and patient with him as he settles in to his new home.  Peanut came to us from the humane society in Eau Claire WI.  They reached out because he was rescued by a police officer from a state registered/licensed breeder because they had many violations on their property. Being used as a stud dog and lacking socialization from people, it takes time to gain his trust. To build trust, we are using high value treats and desensitization techniques.  He has come SO far with with this.  We recommend a home with no small children and a quieter home.  Peanut doesn't like the crate and does not want to be contained; which makes sense to us after all he has been through.  He needs someone that will continue his training, one tiny step at a time.  This should include routine, consistentcy, a kind voice and being gentle with him.   Peanut's needs: A physically fenced yard that he cannot fit through a confident resident dog to take cues from a patient, loving, gentle, dog savvy human to show him the ropes a routine and LOTS of high value treats.   Peanut is neutered, microchipped, negative for heartworms, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  If you think this Lil Peanut is your next family member and you have what it takes to help him come out of his shell, please fill out an adoption application today! Story
Bear is fostered in Wayland, MI With auburn hair and tawny eyes, Red Bear has the kind of eyes that hypnotize.  Bear is a 3 year old red tri male, currently weight about 50 bls.  Bear is a velcro, handsome, sweet, calm, well-mannered, loveable dog looking for his forever home.  Bear is super smart and a quick learner! He currently knows:  Sit; stay; down; no; off; leave it; ok/free (release); come (excellent recall).  His foster home is still working on leash manners (he can be a puller).  Bear has also learned "be nice" while he adjusted to the resident aussie.  It is used when possessive of items begins to show. Bear has excellent house manners. He also does well in his crate. Bear does have a cute quirk that where he makes some rumble or grumble noises (not growls) as he gets comfortable snuggling with his humane. He also sometimes snores!   When Red Bear needs to go out, he will come sit and stare at you. Bear is a medium-to-high energy dog. He is up for outings and adventures, a round of fetch (has ball drive) or playing in yard. He has a great off switch and is also learning the command "take a break" when play is ended.  Bear would be just as happy snuggling on couch with you or just hanging out with you. He rides well in the vehicle and enjoys it.  Bear is very good with all things grooming.   Bear would prefer to be an only dog. He just wants unconditional love and attention and will return it a hundred-fold to you.  If there is another dog now or later, he would do better if they were his size (he's 45 lbs.) or smaller; potentially a female. Bear will need to meet any other dog in the home first to determine if they will be friends.  Bear also needs a person with strong leadership and training skills (as most aussies do).  We recommend Bear in a home with no young children.  When meeting a toddler, he wanted to hide behind his foster mom.  We think little ones would be too much for him.  Children 12+ would be fine.   Red Bear is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  NOTE:  Proof of heartworms for any previous and current pets is required to adopt from us.  Adopters must be willing to provide 1 - 2 hours of mental and/or physical stimulation per day.   If you feel you have what it takes for this handsome boy, please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##1954842##

Story
Annie Blue is being fostered in Muscatine, Iowa. Annie Blue little doll is an abs/olute goofball.  Annie Blue is a herding breed mix of mini aussie, corgi and sheltie.  She currently weighs just under 30 lbs and has a date of birth of 8/30/2021.  She was surrendered by her former owners due to their failing health as they only wanted the best for this pretty princess.   Annie Blue is a great little girl.  She is a little timid and shy but she does warm up nicely.  She is looking for an active family with another social dog.  She can be vocal in her play style - it's just her way of communicating.  Annie Blue loves other dogs and loves to play and run.  Annie Blue has some basic training and is good with several commands.  Annie is crate trained, house trained and great with other dogs of all ages and sizes.  She is ok with children over the age of 10 years old.  We would recommend a fenced yard and someone who would love to continue working on socialization with her.  She also has a gold medal in cuddling.   Annie Blue is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  NOTE: Proof of heartworm prevention is required for all prior or current pets in order to adopt from our rescue.  Adopters should be committed to 1 - 2 hours per day providing mental and physical stimulation. If you think you would be a good fit for this princess, please visit our website for more information on our adoption process and a link to our adoption application.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. ##1954837##

Story
GEMMA IS BEING FOSTERED IN BLOOMINGTON IL This little snuggle bug's name is Gemma, and she is a precious gem who has MASTERED her puppy dog stare!  Our sweet Gemmy girl was found in a field as a stray, so not much is known about her history. What we have discovered so far in foster care is that she has a lot of playful energy and has a high prey-drive with smaller animals, therefore, a house without cats and smaller dogs is crucial for her to thrive. We have reason to believe that at one point or another, Gemma did have an owner as she knows some basic commands instinctively and is an expert fetch player! We have also learned that her favorite spot, undeniably, is against her person on the couch snuggled in for a movie night. She is an EXPERT cuddler and would love nothing more than to spend her evenings snuggled up next to her person on the couch. Gemma weighs around 45 lbs, and she is very active and playful. While she loves a warm night in, cuddled around her person, she equally loves a rousing game of fetch! Since Gemma is cautious with new people and places, this kind of exercise is ideal for her as well as short walks around the neighborhood. Gemma initially appears to be afraid of men, although it only took about a week before she started melting into her foster dad’s arms on a regular basis, and she now snuggles with him every night! She has met a handful of women in her house and even stayed the night with one of them, showing just how easily she does warm up and can fall in love! While it is not absolutely necessary that she be placed in a home without men, we would highly suggest that anyone who'd be present in her adoptive home utilize the time and patience to get to know her and earn her trust. Deli meat treats certainly help! Speaking of treats, it is important to know that Gemma has shown zero food aggression, and is perfectly fine taking treats from your hand once you have gained her trust, making training and confidence-building easier. We are looking for the perfect adopter who will not only be gentle and understanding with Gemma as she learns how to navigate life, but someone who will guide her, continue her training, and someone who will soak up all her hugs and kisses along the way! Because of our quirky girl's energy level, and her high prey drive, we recommend a home without kids under the age of 12. She is still learning certain manners, and as of now she can jump to around 3 or 4 ft in the air when trying to give a hug! Gemma is potty trained and crate trained, and she sleeps in her kennel at night. Her foster family believes she would be fine to be left out at night as she has not been destructive in the slightest, but crate training has given her a safe spot to go when she gets overwhelmed or overstimulated. Gemmy girl loves toys and bones and shares nicely with her four legged foster brother, Ernie. Fetch and chase are two of her favorite games to play. Walking on a leash / traveling in the car for long periods of time are still two very scary actions for sweet Gemma, so someone who is home more often than not and/or willing to work on her socialization skills/training is a must!  Ideally, her furever home would be calm and quiet as Gemma can become stressed when she sees other dogs at a distance, and she is very perceptive to all noises such as heavy machinery outside or other dogs in the area barking. Because of this, we recommend a home where there are not a lot of people coming and going at all times/other dogs barking around her. She is definitely an energetic, talkative gal (making lots of cute puppy groans and pleads for pets and lovin’) and would love a pup sibling or two if they were larger and ok with a spunky spitfire coming into their home!  Gemma's NEEDS A home without young kids/small animals A fenced-in yard to exercise freely A dedicated adopter(s) to continue training and socialization  All the kisses and cuddles one can offer Gemma's WANTS A larger pup sibling that is good with other dogs to play with A quieter home without much coming and going A spot on the couch next to her best friend for life! Gemma is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on all shots and preventatives, she is a highly velcro Aussie who will follow her person anywhere, and she is a TOTAL lover. Are you the perfect match for her? If you are interested in Gemma becoming a part of your family, fill out an adoption application today at https://midwestaustralianshepherdrescue.org/home/adoption-application/ ##1823568##
