Story
Cami is fostered in Oconomowac, WI Cami is a beautiful black tri Toy/Mini Australian Shepherd, born 11/22/2021, weighing approximately 18 pounds. She is a resilient puppy mill survivor who is learning what it truly means to be loved, safe, and part of a family.  For the first few years of her life, Cami lived in a puppy mill where she repeatedly had litters of puppies. After finally being released, she briefly had a loving owner who sadly passed away before she had fully learned how to be a dog. Since then, Cami has been in foster care where she continues making incredible progress every day. Last year, Cami found what everyone hoped would be her forever home with an older couple who adored her. Unfortunately, due to serious health issues and a long rehabilitation stay, her adopter can no longer care for her, and she is once again looking for a forever family.  Despite everything she has been through, Cami is gentle, sweet, and eager to bond. Once she trusts you, she loves snuggling on the couch, giving kisses, rolling over for belly rubs, and sleeping close to her people. Belly rubs are one of her absolute favorite things. Because of her past, fast movements still make her nervous. When someone stands up or moves suddenly, she may bark and follow behind them. Her foster family has worked hard with her, and she has already made amazing progress. Cami wants so badly to feel safe, and with patience and consistency, she continues gaining confidence. A few things about Cami: • Loves other dogs and would do best with a confident dog companion• Recommed a physically fenced yard• Learning to walk on a leash and improving daily• Will happily follow you from room to room• Does not chew things that aren’t hers• Wakes up each morning ready to go outside and potty• Human touch is still new to her and must be on her terms• Kids are interesting to her, but she prefers calm environments Cami would do best with someone who is willing to put in the training to continue her calming skills.  As she is more vocal and has some nervous energy, we feel she would do best in a calmer environment with someone willing to put in some extra training with her.  She also does better with a female caregiver over men, who still scare her a bit.   Cami is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. She does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2308426##

Story
Bentley is fostered in Pleasonton, KS. Meet Bentley.  Bentley was surrendered to us when his owner had some medical issues and was unable to continue caring for him.  Bentley came in a little under-socialized and slightly overweight but he has come A LONG WAY! Bentley's date of birth is 9/6/2022, he is a male neutered Australian Shepherd mix who weighs 50lbs. Bentley is silly, funny, and a bit of a goofball!  His true personality started showing up and it makes him SO adorable!  We think Bentley needs a forever home with another dog, a fenced yard and someone who will meet him where he is in his socialization, be patient with him so he can settle in and build a bond/trust with them.  Once that trust is built, watch out! He will be his goofy silly self! Bentley loves it when his foster mom asks him questions, he does this cute head tilt and cocks his ears up like he is listening to every word she says!  He is SO smart! In his prior home before coming to rescue, Bentley spent great deal of time in his crate.  For this reason, he did not receive proper socialization. Socialization is something his foster home has diligently been working on with him.  She has been desensitizing him to many things, including leash walking, grooming, other dogs and other people.  Bentley previously experienced some fears in some area, but he really has put in a lot of work and he is making wonderful progress in all areas. Bentley is in a foster home with 4 legged canine fur siblings of various ages and sizes, and does well with them.  We are unsure about cats.   Bentley is more of a low-key guy who is looking for an adopter who enjoys the same type of lifestyle. He prefers a home where there are less comings and goings.  We also recommend a physically fenced yard and a home that is both patient and has no children under age 12, and a canine companion. would be ideal for this guy. Bentley is a talker. The more you talk to him, the more he expresses his feelings.  Bentley is what we term a "work in progress", but he is the type of dog that will quickly become your best friend once trust is gained between you.  Are you looking for your new best friend? Bentley is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Schwartzy is being fostered in Waukesha WI Meet Schwartzy.  This stunning all black Australian Shepherd mix boy is a super sensitive soul, with his gold eyes that just melt your heart.  He came to us from a shelter where he was returned twice in his short little life. This boy wouldn't mind another canine companion in his home to play with but he could also be an only dog. This boy could be your lapdog or your backyard play buddy.  Schwartzy is potty trained and crate trained and likes his crate.   He is a small, young and insecure boy, just over a year old and is still working through some of his fears. He weighs in at just 40 lbs.  He will need a patient adopter that is willing to help him through some of these fears with calm, positive, clear leadership and dog handling skills. Once a bond is formed, he loves his person with all of his being.  We believe he was previously on a shock collar because he has some sensitivities with his neck being "grabbed" or any leash pressure on his neck.  His foster mom has been working with him to desensitize this specifically, but it is a work in progress for him.  In his foster home, he lives with many other dogs, cats, a bird and horses.  He does just fine with all those animals.  NEEDS FOR HIS FOREVER HOME: He would prefer a quieter country style or rural setting where there isn't a ton of commotion.  We also believe he needs children over the age of 14 in his home or no children at all. We recommend a physically fenced yard would also be important for him.   Do you have what it takes to give this boy a home and help him overcome his fears?  He is looking for a special human to be his forever.  Is that you? Schwartzy is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Sienna now called Mishka is fostered in Franklin, IN Meet Mishka – Your Next Adventure Buddy! I'm a 1-2 year old Australian Shepherd red tri female looking for my forever family. I'm full of energy, super adventurous, and always ready for fun. I love running around, chasing toys, and exploring the outdoors — being inside all day just isn't my style! I am very sweet and affectionate with people. I light up when I meet new friends and give the best happy greetings. I do great with other dogs too, though I can be a bit territorial about my house and yard (I like to keep things in order!). I also have strong opinions about lawn equipment - mowers and weedeaters are my nemesis - and I will let you know with a bark or two.  I do have a curiosity with cats, and have chased one that ran, but could potentially coexist with a cat that is dog-savvy.  I’m easy to live with. I walk beautifully on a leash, know all my basic commands (sit, down, come), and have zero potty accidents (potty trained). I am confident when left alone but get bored quickly, so I bounce between toys for entertainment. My favorite things? Long play sessions, ear scratches, and belly rubs that make my tail go wild. I also love running errands and going on car rides as well.  I am a water dog and enjoy playing in water.   If you have an active lifestyle with plenty of outdoor time, space to play, and patience for my aussie personality, I could be the perfect match for you!  I am crate trained, do well for grooming and baths.  I also could live in a household with age-approriate, respectful children.  Are you ready to bring some zoomies and joy into your life?  ##2701809##

Story
Junior pka 50 Scent is fostered in Waukesha, WI. Meet Junior!  Born February 5, Junior may be a little taller than his siblings—but it’s his big personality that really makes him stand out! This adorable Aussie mix is the perfect blend of snuggly and playful. He loves to be right by your side, whether you’re relaxing on the couch or getting things done—he’s your little “helper” who just wants to tag along for the adventure. Junior is curious, affectionate, and full of charm. He’s also quite the talker and will happily “sing” along with you, making him as entertaining as he is lovable. He enjoys playing with other dogs and people, and he’s been exposed to dogs of all sizes, doing great with everyone he meets. He’s also been tested with kids and cats and has done wonderfully. Junior’s mom, an Aussie mix, came into rescue as a pregnant stray, so dad is a mystery—but based on the litter’s smaller size, we believe he may have been a smaller breed. He’s doing great with potty training and is already showing how smart and eager he is—Junior listens well and truly wants to make his people happy, which will make training a rewarding experience for his future family.  Like any puppy, he’s still learning and will need a home ready to guide him with patience, consistency, and lots of love. If you’re looking for a curious, cuddly, and fun-loving companion who will keep you smiling (and maybe singing), Junior might just be your perfect match! Even at this young age, these puppies are starting early socialization and gaining confidence as they explore the world around them. They are being exposed to normal household activity and human interaction to help set them up for success in their future homes. Because they are young puppies, they will need families who are committed to continuing their development. This includes: Ongoing socialization Positive training Potty training Plenty of exercise and mental stimulation Junior is up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2654831##

Story
Finn is fostered in New Buffalo MI Meet adorable Finn, a sweet and sassy, silky soft, tricolor mini, Aussie that administers hugs on request. The true definition of a Velcro dog, he loves being with his person and a doggy sibling. Energetic and driven, there is no ball he won’t chase or command and trick he isn’t excited to learn. Finn needs an active person to continue the extensive list of activities he has already started to learn. He picks things up very quickly and is a joy to train. He is highly praise and food driven.   He will attach to his new person or people quickly but is standoffish at first with new people. Once a bond is formed, he loves his people with all of his huge heart.  Finn is a sensitive soul and before coming to rescue wasn't treated very well.  His previous people used some harsh devices on him, so it caused some anxiety for him.   He will be 3 on September 18th and weighs 26 lbs.  He will need a large fenced in yard where he can chase balls, play with a doggie sibling and run his little heart out. Now that he has discovered his love of agility and Nosework, he enjoys backyard practice too. Finn has spent the last year on quite the learning journey. Everything from basic obedience, nosework, beginning agility, a focused, home-based, two-week training program and daily practice of all of the commands he knows.  He is SUPER smart and loves to learn.   He would thrive with someone who will continue all that he has learned and would be an excellent performance dog. His people should be active, have herding dog or similar breed experience and confidence to meet the needs and the traits of an Aussie.  He would LOVE to be someone's sidekick and go places and do things with them.  He is very true to the Aussie breed and loves to be with his humans. He is great with other dogs and even cats.  We recommend no young kids for Finn as they scare him.  We think children 14 and older would be ideal for him, or better yet, an older couple with limited children visiting. Finn has great house manners.  He is crate trained, but he doesn't love it and can be trusted in the house for long periods of time.  Could you be the lucky person to build on the excellent foundation that Finn has been working on over the past year? Finn is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.
