Story
0756 Chicago, now called Sunday, is fostered in Wayland, MI. Hello potential adopters! Introducing our handsome boy Sunday who has been in his foster home since the end of January 2025. He was found as a stray on the streets of Chicago and spent a few days at their shelter.  He was sprung on Sunday, hence his name!  Sunday is a red tri standard male Australian Shepehrd with double blue eyes, a bobtail, and freckles. He has been slimmed down from 67 lbs. to a healthier 60 lbs.  He is estimated to be 2 - 3 years old.   Sunday's love for food is unmatched and makes training a breeze!  He is a ball enthusiast who would love someone that is willing to join him in fetch sessions. He will give you the ball or drop it on you, so no reaching required!  Sunday also loves car rides, hikes, sniffaris, playtime, and simply being with you. He is ready to go on adventures with you or just hang out on the couch! Sunday's ideal home would be with either a single adopter looking for a 4-legged best friend or an active couple. Sunday would do best in a home with no kids or other pets as he loves to have undivided attention!  Sunday does like to guard some of the bowls and doorways, but with verbal corrections, this has greatly improved.  Sunday is a work in progress, as we like to call it and he is fostered with a trainer, who is happy to help show you what works well for this handsome guy.  Sunday has not been a big fan of being held or restrained but with food and practice he is doing better.  His intelligence, energy, and playful nature make him a good addition for the right home. For Sunday, the right home would be someone with some herding breed experience and an ability to continue positive reinforcement training to help him build on the wonderful progress his foster home has started.  If you would like to learn more about Sunday and his progress, we would love to chat with you!  Sunday is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2288052##

Story
Alfie is being fostered in Cincinnati OH Meet Alfie!  Alfie is a blue merle male, standard Australian Shepherd, who is just over a year old and currently weighs approximately 35lbs.  We imagine Alfie will stay on the smaller side even at his full weight, possibly gettin to 45 lbs at max.  Alfie is a typical aussie that LOVES to go for walks, play with sqeaky toys, and play with his foster sibling that is the same age and size.  Once a good play session is over, he will curl up next to his foster momma.  He definitely has a nice off switch.   He continues to surprise us with his enthusiasm and continued learning.  He is getting very good at settling when the kids are playing loudly and rambunctiously in the neighbors yards. He comes away and quiets when called. His foster is working on useless but fun entertainment like “sit pretty” and “roll over", "watch me", "leave it" and "by me", along with sit, stay, wait, down and off.  He is also learning “find your toy”. Alfie would do best with some that is experienced with the herding breed and has some prior dog handling experience.  He was was WAY to much dog for his prior owner and because of this, he came to us with some undesired behavioral traits which his foster mom has been working on.  She has solicited help of a trainer and he has responded remarkably well.  When arriving in rescue, he had no manners or self control.  He has learned SO MUCH and with his foster mom's help, he is doing amazing at leash walking, not barking at things that frighten him and getting used to lots of different stimuli.  Given this information, Alfie will do best with a home that would continue the training he has been doing, even working with his foster mom on what this looks like.  This is a MUST for his forever home.  We recommend a home with children over 12 years of age.  Off leash, Alfie enjoys meeting and greeting people and other dogs. On leash, Alfie can become unsure of himself so this is an area he will continue to work on.  Alfie enjoys playing with other dogs, so a playful dog and a physically fenced yard would be ideal for Alfie.  If you are looking for a devoted companion, who will curl up with you, go on long walks, runs, or maybe agility, this is your boy!!! Alfie is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, negative for tick borne diseases, microchipped and taking monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2152129##

Story
Stella Mae is being fostered in Kansas City, MO area.   Stella Mae is a stunning black tri female Australian Shepherd. At 3 years old and weighing 53 lbs, she was surrendered to a shelter alongside her sibling due to her owners' divorce. Stella Mae is eager to be your loyal adventure companion—whether it's a two-hour hike or a quick trip to the bathroom, she wants to be right there with you! If she could, she'd spend every moment by your side acting as your furry personal assistant. She would thrive in a home where she's not left out of the fun, so an adopter who is home more often than not would be ideal. Energetic, intelligent, and full of life, Stella Mae is sure to charm you with her cheerful personality. She has never met a stranger and gets along well with cats. She's also done well with dogs of all sizes, especially when introduced slowly. Stella Mae loves toys of all kinds and could play all day! As an exuberant girl, she can be jumpy when excited and may knock a small child over, so no kids under 10 years old. She has met older kids and loved them. Stella Mae is fully house trained, but is still working on crate training. She is learning that the crate is a positive space and means lots of treats for her, but she will still cry for the first few minutes before settling down. She does pull on leash, and her foster home is working on building better loose leash skills with her. She also goes on runs in her foster home and loves them! With a little more training, she will make a great running buddy!  She enjoys hiking, water, car rides, and is ready for any adventure!  After a good energy release, she settles down very well in the house and will nap or work on an enrichment item.   Overall, Stella Mae is a fantastic dog with a beautiful temperament. She's intelligent and energetic, and she'll need an adopter committed to meeting her mental and physical needs. She's already blossoming into a wonderful young dog and would love to find her forever home! Stella Mae is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Trilly (formerly Sheila) is fostered in Salem, WI Meet Trilly – A One-of-a-Kind Aussie with a Heart of Gold.  Trilly is a 1 - 2 year old black tri Australian Shepherd femaile with a full, fluffy tail and soulful eyes that will melt your heart. Her soft, luxurious coat and gentle nature make her as beautiful inside as she is out.  Trilly came from an Amish farm where she was used for breeding, but those days are behind her.   Now spayed, up to date on vaccines, and finally free to be a beloved pet, she’s ready for a fresh start in a loving home.  While at the former's owner's home, Trilly was injured in a lawn mower accident, resulting in the loss of her front left paw. But don’t let that fool you—this brave girl hasn’t lost an ounce of joy or spirit. She moves around confidently and happily, proving that resilience is her middle name.  Trilly is a classic Velcro dog, who is devoted, affectionate, and always happiest by your side. She’ll gladly curl up in your lap, follow you around the house, and offer sweet kisses and soft paw hugs. She especially loves gentle attention and will often hop up to ask for pets with a sparkle in her eye. Trilly has been around other dogs in her former home and in her foster home, but we do think she prefers all the attention, so she must meet any other dogs in the home. Trilly is cat-friendly and would likely be good with children, as well.  If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who’s overcome the odds and still shines with joy, Trilly just might be your perfect match.  Trilly is ready to give her whole heart to someone special—could that be you? Trilly is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm purchases for any current or prior pets is required to adopt from our rescue. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2430297##

Story
Maverick is fostered in West Plains, Missouri You can't help but fall in love with Maverick.  Maverick is a red merle male Australian Shepherd.  He is estimated to be 2 - 3 years old and weighs approximately 45 lbs.  This handsome boy showed up as a stray and was taken in by a local farmer.  He was very shy and timid, so the farmer had to earn his trust before we could get him into rescue.  Maverick is now in a foster home where he is learning all things about how to be a pampered pooch.  Maverick is VERY sweet and loving, but he is lacking some social skills.  His skilled foster is working with him on basic obedience, walking on a leash, house manners and being a typical dog.  Maverick has discovered toys and does love a good squeaky toy.  He has mastered potty training, but he is not terribly fond of the crate.  This is something his foster home is still working on to get him used to longer periods of time in the crate.   Maverick is quite shy and timid, but incredibly sweet so he needs a committed adopter who will continue socializing and exposing him to new things at his pace.  Maverick does need a physically fenced yard and would be a great addition to a home that has an exceptionally social resident dog. Maverick is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Hershey is fostered in Portage, IN. Miss Hershey is looking for a quiet home that will give her the best life ever.  She was a former breeding machine, who lived in a shed and was bred for her puppies.  She was retired and thankfully so as Hershey was showing signs of medical issues in her uterus and her mouth was totally green.   While she hadn't been treated the best in her former life, we are here to ensure that this girl is loved and pampered for the remainer of her life.  Hershey is an 8 year old beaitufl blue merle female, who currently weighs about 30 lbs.  She will definitely need an adopter who is willing to take things slow.  Hershy is shy and timid but does great with other dogs and cats.  She will need a home with a physically fenced yard and someone who can continue her socialization at her pace with patience and high value rewards.  She is a VERY sweet girl who is house trained and has great house manners.  She would do best in a home without young children and one that is less busy. Hershey is now medically cleared.  She has had a dental and a spay.  She did lose 5 teeth in her dental.  She is up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.
