Story
Rocky is fostered in Waterford, MI Looking for your best friend? Drum roll please.....announcing Rocky.  This stunning blue merle boy is just 3 years old and 40lbs. He is a standard Australian Shepherd with one blue eye and one brown eye.  While small in size for a standard Aussie, he is full of love, fluff and personality!   When this handsome boy first came to MASR, he was a breeding stud and the Amish breeder wanted to stop breeding (thank goodness), and asked if we would take him. He has learned how to live in a home, he is now potty trained, crate trained (although he doesn't love his crate, but each day is getting better), and doing beautifully with his house manners.  Rocky loves walks and has a natural auto-checkin with his human.  He is the kind of Aussie that bonds quickly to his human.  He is very people focused and would be fine with or without another dog.  He is currently being fostered with 3 other Aussies, 2 females and a male.  It took him sometime to slowly learn that the other Aussies in the house were his friends, and he would need slow introductions over time with other dogs that he is expected to live with. His foster mom can help explain what this would look like with some coaching.  One of the female is the boss in the house and he respects her completely.  Sometimes, if his foster mom is gone too long (longer than 5-6 hours) he can get into some mischief.  This boy is SUPER smart and loves to learn.  He really just wants to be with his human.   Rocky would LOVE nothing more than to be someone's sidekick.  Once bonded, he probably wouldn't even need a fence.  One of the cutest things about this boy, is once he settles in, (a week at most), his wigglebutt won't stop wiggling.  He has literally one of the best wiggle butts EVER!   Rocky really likes the squirrels, bunnies and little critters a little too much so we think no kitties for this boy in his forever home.  We also recommend children over 10 for this boy.  He is still young and a bit excitable.  Rocky will need a minimum of 2 hours a day of mental and physical exercise to be a happy boy. Rocky is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, negative for all tickborn diseases and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartowrm.  Does Rocky sound like the boy you have been looking for?  Your best friend forever?  Complete an adoption application today! Proof of heartworm purchase for any current or previous pet is request to adopt from our rescue.   NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##1992564##

Story
GEMMA IS BEING FOSTERED IN BLOOMINGTON IL Meet our precious girl, Gemma, who has MASTERED her puppy dog stare!  Sweet Gemmy NEEDS a hero.  She is a gorgeous black tri female that was found in a stray.  She is approximately 2 years old an is playful with other dogs.  Gemma is a goofy girl, that has a high prey drive, so no kitties, bunnies or other small pets is required for her. However, what she does make up that with providing you with BOUNDLESS cuddles.  She wants nothing more than to spend her time being as close as she can be with her person.  Gemma weighs around 45 lbs, and she is a typical aussie who is active and playful. While she loves a good evening of chilling at home, she equally loves running around the house showing off all her stuffies and squeaky toys!  Gemma is a bit cautious around new people and places, but her foster home has done some nice training work with her in exposing her to new people and new things, providing her with some positive experiences.  She is responding very well to the training and would love to have an adoptive home of her own that would continue this training for her.  She has made TREMENDOUS progress in her foster home, meeting new people, hearing new sounds and experiencing all the world has to offer.  She would do best in a home that is on the quiet side and does not have a lot of visitors.   Gemma is potty trained and crate trained and even puts herself in her kennel at night. She does have excellent house manners and can be left out without any mischief.  Gemma loves toys and bones and shares nicely with her foster brotherr. Fetch and chase are two of her favorite games to play.  Gemma is still learning to enjoy car rides so more positive experiences (pup cups) would be highly recommended.   Gemma is spayed and up-to-date on all shots and preventatives A home without young kids or small animals (cats, bunnies, etc) A physically fenced yard to exercise freely A patient adopter(s) to continue the training and socialization her foster is providing Gemma's WANTS Another social (same sized) dog in the home A quieter home without much coming and going A spot on the couch next to her best friend for life! ##1823568##

Story
Charlie Pride is fostered in Marion, WI. Please meet Charlie Pride AKA Charlie or Chuck Chuck.  Charlie, or as we sometimes call him, Chuck Chuck, is a beautiful old soul. He is a 4 year old blue merle male Australian Shepherd with one eye that is half blue. He also has a gorgeous tail.  He weighs approximately 35 pounds and is super sweet, gentle and less energetic than your typical aussie.  Charlie Pride came to us from an Amish farm, and previously lived outside.  However, he has QUICKLY adjusted to living indoors.  He is learning basic commands and is very food motivated. He has started to learn how to play with toys but they are not of much interest to him. He is 100% house trained and has free roam of the house. He enjoys taking leisurely walks in tall grass, laying on the porch watching the world go by and napping on the couch. Charlie is currently living with 2 resident females and does well with them He also does well with male dogs. He also has done wonderful with the other animals: horses, chickens and cats. He would be fine with cats.  We were informed that he had killed chickens in the past but in his current foster, he has no interest in them.   Charlie Pride loves to cuddle on the couch with his person and is very well mannered. He would make a fantastic addition to just about any family but I think a lower key home would be best for him.  Charlie is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or prior pets is required to adopt from our rescue. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2101886##

Story
Jack Blue aka Jacks is fostered in Wayland, MI Hi Everybody! My name is Jack Blue aka Jacks. My foster mom calls me Jacks because she says I remind her of the game with the ball and jacks: bouncy at times and trying to pick up things. I am a 15-month-old  standard Blue Merle mail with copper and white markings; plus I have a beautiful tail. I weigh about 48 lbs. and look good! I have heterochromatic eyes, which just means one is blue and the other is brown! Pretty cool, huh? I am a young dog so would love a new home that is more on the active side. I would love to go on adventures: swimming, hiking, car rides, sniff-faris, or just picnics in the park. I would also be happy with play sessions at home. It would be aussome if there was another dog in the house as I do play well with others! I am learning from my dog foster brother how to play and engage with others less exuberantly and read body cues better. Besides being a great companion and adventurer, I might be a good candidate for a dog sport like agility, fly ball, rally, or something that would improve my obedience, build our bond/relationship and do fun things together! I was raised with 3 young kids, but I would do better with kids 12 and up. I am young and have lots of energy and don’t always pay attention to where I am going while playing. I run into my foster mom’s legs a lot while playing with my foster brother!  I am curious and friendly with cats, but want to chase and play with them.   I am a smart dog and know basic commands: sit, come, stay, leave it, no, and down. I am getting these reinforced everyday through daily activities and training sessions. I listen better if food is involved. I can get stubborn or have selective hearing at times, but I am learning. Patience and consistency are my foster mom’s motto. I also follow my foster brother’s lead by doing what he does. In the end, I do what is asked because I love getting praised and rewarded! I am a great dog who only wants to please you.   My weakest skill is loose leash walking and heeling. I just want to go and can pull like a sled dog! I am just excited, ready to go and not trained completely in this area. I AM NOT being disrespectful, dominant, or bad, just an eager dog, ready for adventures. My foster mom works on this daily in the house and yard (less distractions) on and off leash. We also practice on leash in quiet public areas every chance we get. She is also working on door manners (not bolting out when door is open). I am learning to “wait” and this is the cue word she uses. I am also learning “take a break” when it’s time to settle down. I have a good off switch but am always ready for fun!  I am down for snuggles, belly rubs, kisses, and any other affection. I will be your shadow! I am house trained, and crate trained (I like to be left alone while crated - my space), but because I am a good dog, I can be left out without any issues.  I can be mischievous and get into things sometimes, but it's just because I am still learning and being taught what is acceptable and what is not. I have do great with grooming needs as well and at bedtime, I get a biscuit EVERY night. That’s my cue that it’s rest time. I am patiently waiting for my forever home and will be the best thing that happens to you! I am waiting to give you unconditional love, be your adventure buddy and your loving companion!  Jacks is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  He does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2138480##

Story
Nola is being fostered in Waukesha WI This stunning, sweet beauty is Nola.  Nola's date of birth is 5/12/2020.  She is just over 4 years old is ready to share the love she has with her forever humans.  She is an Australian Shepherd and Australian Cattle Dog mix that is black and white with beautiful ticking marks.  Nola weighs 55lbs.  She should be 40-45lbs.  She is on a strict diet in her foster home with an excellent exercise regimen.   She loves to be right next her foster mom; typical velcro Aussie girl.  Nola would love nothing more than morning coffee walks with her forever human and evening sunset strolls.  We think as she continues to lose weight, she will have a bit more energy. Currently, she is a 5-6 on the scale of 1-10 for energy.  She loves to chase and play with the other dogs in her foster home and spends time at day care with lots of other dogs each day, but her favorite place, is right next to her foster mom.  Nola is crate and potty trained, knows a ton of commands and is a total snuggle bug.  She will need daily exercise and mental stimulation like any other Aussie to be happy in her forever home.  While she is great with other dogs, they need to be larger than 20lbs.  Nola has a bit of a prey drive, so we recommend no cats or small dogs for this girl.  Nola also gets VERY nervous with small babies and toddlers, that is why she came to rescue.  We recommend children 10 and older.   She would love to be someone's sidekick and be with them wherever they go.  She rides well in the car.  She loves to snuggle.  She is super sweet and affectionate and her foster mom reports that she has a sweet old soul.   Nola needs a home that will love her unconditionally and continue her exercise and weight loss regimen.  She needs a home that is willing to give her the love, attention and affection she deserves.  Nola wants a home that she can be someone's sidekick.  She doesn't need a fenced yard, but it would be nice.  Does Nola sound like your new best friend?  That is all she wants in this world.   Nola is spayed, microchipped, negative for all tick borne diseases, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.   NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org   ##2142313##

Story
Waldo is fostered in Waterford, MI. Waldo, who is affectionally called Wally, came to rescue from an Amish farm. He is a goofy and energetic 1 year old male Australian Shepherd who is ready to find his forever home.  Waldo is a blue merle weighing about 55-60 lbs.   With his boundless enthusiasm and silly nature, Wally is always up for a new adventure and would thrive in a household with another playful dog. Wally is a VERY active dog who thrives on physical exercise and mental stimulation. He loves to run, play, and engage in various activities that challenge his agile mind and body. Because of his size and energy levels, Wally will require a home with children over 10 years old and someone who is able to provide 1 - 2 hours (minimum) of daily exercise. He is an active, young, playful aussie.  While Wally’s energy is one of his most charming qualities, he is also working on some important skills. He is learning to manage his tendency to jump and is improving his understanding of boundaries. One thing Wally has mastered is potty training! He is also very good about being in his crate at night and while his foster family is out of the home. Wally is learning a great deal:  new people, situations, and new environments so he may be a bit nervous at first, but once he knows you, he'll be your best buddy.  Wally needs an adopter that is willing to continue his proper socialization to new things through positive experiences.  If you’re looking for a loyal and lively companion who will bring joy and excitement to your life, Wally might be the perfect match for you. Wally is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks, and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm preventatives for all past and current pets is required to be adopted from us. Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, see our adoption fees, and find a link to our adoption application.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2130336##
