Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.JJ is nicknamed “Big Guy” because he is 5lbs heavier than his brothers. He takes charge, but allows his brothers to get the better of him. A ball of energy looking for the next new thing. He is a loving happy puppy. JJ is not an apartment dog and would do best with a fenced in yard. HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter. &#226&#128&#139Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.   Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 13, 2025, 9:11 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hello! I’m Tanbo (now named Snoop). I was adopted from Last Day Dog Rescue as a pup and now see myself back here due to family issues. I’m a very inquisitive pup and like to find my way into many things, but I’m learning that I’m not allowed to do so.  Anything to do with treats and I’ll be right there with you, but if you have your own food, I may sniff it. I really like to play with toys. As long as the toys are not stuffed, we won’t have a mess. I shred them within minutes, so harder chews would be best. I like to go for walks, I’m leash trained with slight pulling but I’m learning how not to do that. While we are out on our walks, I like to sniff everything I can because it’s all so interesting to me. After our long walks I like to curl up on the couch next to my humans and sleep. I enjoy being under the covers with them as well! When meeting new people, I do bark. Once I get to know them, I’m fine. I do get along with other dogs, I just bark a lot. However, I also resource guard my toys, so being an only dog may be best for me. I do chase cats, so I might not be the best with them. My current humans think I may have some separation anxiety, so for now I will have to be in a crate until I calm down and learn they will come back. I was just recently diagnosed with Cushing’s disease so I will be medicated for the rest of my life, but that doesn’t make me any different to love.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. December 5, 2025, 9:06 pm

Story
SHAKIRA 1 year Attributes Dog friendly Needs another dog Housetrained Crate trained Likes car rides Potties on leash High energy Shakira is a one-year-old sweetheart with a gentle soul and a playful spark. She came to us as a stray and was understandably very nervous at first, unsure if people could be trusted. While she still needs time to warm up to new faces, once you earn her trust, she gives it wholeheartedly. Shakira forms deep bonds and will love you like no other. She's happiest snuggled up on the couch with her favorite humans or zooming around the yard, soaking up life with joy. Shakira absolutely loves her dog foster brothers, so having another playful dog in the home is a must for her—she thrives with a canine companion to help build her confidence and burn off energy. Shakira is potty trained, crate trained, and highly food motivated, which makes her a quick learner. She's high energy but knows how to settle and relax, especially after playtime or a good walk. One of her most endearing traits is how excited she gets to greet her favorite humans in the morning—her happiness is contagious. She does well with small children once she gets to know them, but she can be a bit nervous around teenagers and may need patience and gentle introductions. Shakira loves going on walks and is learning her leash manners, though she's still prone to the occasional sudden lurch when an interesting smell catches her attention. With patience, love, and a playful dog sibling by her side, Shakira will blossom into an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion. She's a special girl just waiting for the right home to truly shine. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

COOKIE (female) Attributes: Likes car rides Good with kids over 4 yrs House trained Likes cats Dog friendly Medium energy Will potty on leash Cookie is a beautiful lemon beagle who just had her 7th birthday on December 28th. She is 27 pounds of snuggle bug extraordinaire!! Gets along well with 4 resident cats. She is house trained and will potty while on leash. She enjoys going for walks and smelling all the interesting smells. Does well with children over 7 years old, didn't observe her around younger children. She likes riding in the car and loves having her head out the window weather permitting. Sleeps in her own bed but would like to cuddle in the big bed!! Cookie does not like to be alone due to separation anxiety, and will tolerate for a couple of hours without being destructive. She would do best in a home with minimal alone time. She gets along with other dogs. Low to medium energy, sleeps a lot during the day. If you are looking for the sweetest little lovey then she is your girl!! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
