You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hi, I’m Tanbo… but my friends call me Snoop! I was adopted as a puppy and sadly found my way back to the rescue due to family circumstances. While that wasn’t the plan, I’m hoping my forever family is still out there waiting for me! I’m a very curious and inquisitive guy—I love to sniff around and investigate everything going on in my world. When I first came back to the rescue, stuffed toys were actually banned for me because I used to immediately shred them. The good news? I’ve improved! I can have them again now… although I’ll admit I still enjoy chewing on them and occasionally pulling some stuffing out. Old habits die hard. When it comes to playmates, I really enjoy dogs that are smaller than me—they’re my kind of crowd! Bigger dogs, though? I’d rather keep my distance. I also tend to chase cats, so a cat-free home would probably be best. I would also do best in a home without younger children, as I prefer a calmer environment where I can relax and feel comfortable. One of my favorite things in the world is treats and cuddling with my humans. If you have a blanket, just know it automatically becomes our blanket. In fact, if you see a lump under a blanket on the couch, you might want to check before sitting down… it could be me! Because I only have 21 teeth left, crunchy treats are a little tough for me to chew. Softer chews are my favorite! And since I’m missing a few teeth, my tongue hangs out about 95% of the time, which just adds to my charm. As a senior gentleman, I do have a couple medical conditions. I have Cushing’s disease and low B12, which means I’ll need medication for the rest of my life. I also take a little medicine for separation anxiety when my humans leave, but if you’re just gone for a few hours, I’ll handle it like a champ. What I’m really looking for is a cozy home, some soft treats, a warm blanket, and humans who love to cuddle as much as I do. If that sounds like you, I think we might be a perfect match.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. May 12, 2026, 10:37 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Murray! Murray is a senior Beagle/Chihuahua/Doxie mix estimated to be about 10 years old.  He was brought into a rural OH shelter along with his two canine friends. Murray is a gentle dog and, despite his age, has a spring in his step and can run surprisingly fast.  He displays those lovable [but occasionally annoying] Beagle behaviors such as magically appearing when there is food to be had, letting his nose direct his steps...usually in haste to the tantalizing smell, lavishing his affection on humans and efforts to 'escape' his harness and/or collar to follow his nose, hence the need for a securely fenced yard.  Murray enjoy walks and does well on leash.  He also enjoys just running around at his leisure for a bit before tuckering out and taking a nap.   He sometimes takes a bit of time to feel comfortable in his environment and runs to his crate, his 'safe space', when unsure of things.  Once comfortable, he wants to be wherever his human is.  He does exhibit mild separation anxiety, but relaxes when he can see you.  He has no aggression. He requires gentle verbal correction and cringes when approached from above, which may indicated he was hit.  He would do best with another canine companion around his size as he lights up when he meets another dog.  He currently lives with a 10 pound Pom mix and loves his company.  Murray is a solid 22 pounds.   Murray has no teeth so his tongue hangs out all the time.  His whole mouth was filled with rotted teeth and all had to be removed.  He also had fistulas where his upper canine teeth were, which were successfully sutured closed.  He eats only soft foods, but still has a healthy appetite.  Murray is UTD on vaccines, had a negative Heartworm test, is neutered and microchipped.  Murray would love a retirement home where he will be safe and comfy for his remaining years. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.JJ is nicknamed “Big Guy” because he is 5lbs heavier than his brothers. He takes charge, but allows his brothers to get the better of him. A ball of energy looking for the next new thing. He is a loving happy puppy. JJ is not an apartment dog and would do best with a fenced in yard. HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter. &#226&#128&#139Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Story
ROSCO 5 years Attributes Snuggly Potties on leash Crate trained Working on housetraining Requires a fence Dog friendly Rosco is small but mighty! A sweet, affectionate little guy who loves nothing more than curling up for snuggles and staying close to his favorite person, he finds comfort in companionship and will thrive in a calm, patient home. Like most beagles, Rosco enjoys going for walks where he can exercise his sniffing superpowers to the fullest! Unlike many beagles, he’s not particularly vocal and doesn’t bark very much. He’s familiar with using a dog door and is well on his way with house training, especially when kept on a consistent routine. He’s comfortable in his crate as long as he’s in the same room as his humans. A secure, fenced-in yard would be a wonderful bonus for him to explore and relax in. Rosco gets along with the other dogs in his foster home. His foster family feels that he would do well with other dogs as long as they are confident and respect his space. He’s fed in a separate area to prevent any disagreements with his canine siblings. Rosco is looking for a committed family who can offer structure, reassurance, and plenty of love. In return, he’ll be a devoted companion who sticks by your side and fills your home with warmth and love. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
PEANUT 6 years Attributes Dog friendly Crate trained Housetrained Requires another dog Requires a fence Medium energy Snuggly Potties on leash Good in cars This cute little nugget is Peanut, who is 6 years old and weighs 23 pounds. He’s a calm, medium-energy dog who is the perfect size to snuggle on your lap, which is one of his favorite things to do. When he’s not busy being a snuggle bug, Peanut enjoys snoozing in a comfy chair with his teddy bear or playing with the other dogs in his foster home. A home with a fenced-in yard and another dog to play with would be Peanut’s idea of heaven. When it’s time to go for a walk, Peanut sits like a perfect gentleman as he waits to be leashed up. He appears to have been trained to walk very calmly to the right side of the person walking him, which makes walkies with Peanut a breeze! He is very sweet and outgoing, and he enjoys meeting new people. He gets along very well with the other dogs in his foster home, but we don’t know how he does with cats and children. Peanut rides well in the car – he curls up in a dog bed in the back seat and goes to sleep. He’s crate trained and is almost housebroken with only the occasional accident. When his foster family goes out, he has the run of the house with the other dogs in the home. Peanut is known for finding things to chew on, so his new family will need to make sure he has appropriate items to satisfy his craving to chew. If you’re looking for a sweet, friendly, affectionate addition to your family, Peanut just might be the perfect fit! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
