Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Irving, one of our newest residents at the Mikey & Me kennels in Chelsea, Mi for Happy Days Rescue. Irving is a very handsome boy, likely a Hound/Beagle mix (?), he’s approx. 2 years old, he weighs about 45 pounds, and he’s a happy and wonderful dog. Irving enjoys meeting new people, taking walks (he walks well on a leash), chasing a ball, and hanging out with his gal pal, Ingrid. Irving came to us (along with Ingrid) when their family said they weren’t able to provide for their safety while living in a busy area. They are both well mannered and seem to enjoy meeting other nice dogs. Irving was given his essential vaccines on 12/27 and he is scheduled for his first Vet appt. in Dexter where he will be tested for Heart Worm disease and implanted with a Microchip for his safety. If you would like to meet Irving, please submit an adoption application at  happydaysdogandcatrescue.org . More photos of Irving will be forthcoming as they become available. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. You may not have hit the Powerball Or Mega Millions, but adopting Chelsea would be like hitting the dog lottery. She has it all. She is calm, gentle, loving, quiet, and friendly. She is great with dogs ,cats, and kids alike. She even ignores our resident squirrel who frequents our backyard. She is crate trained and potty trained. She was very reserved and a little scared when she first came into our home.It has been amazing to watch her learn to trust and love again. She is happy and ready to become a part of your family. Tears will be shed when we have to say goodbye to her. Fostering can be bittersweet. We love her and we are hoping to find her the PERFECT home. She is happy to go for a walk with you or snuggle on the couch. She loves to sit next to her family and give hugs. Chelsea would fit any home situation. Another friendly dog brother or sister would be ideal for her and really help her feel at home. She's very submissive and has shown no aggression towards anything at all. She's a young dog too, so If you give her a chance, she will reward you with years of devoted companionship. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Rocky LOVES people! He likes attention, plenty of pets, and enjoys snuggling. Rocky is a 2 year old beagle. Rocky came to the rescue with Butterball after their owner passed away. Rocky and Butterball do get along well and might like to be adopted together but would also be good adopted separately. Rocky gets along with other dogs and cats. He does like to mess with cats by staring at them or blocking their way. Rocky is treat motivated and loves food. In fact he is overweight and needs to lose about 15lbs. Rocky can be barker and will bark if he does not get his way. Rocky is a great dog with a lot of personality! Beau is about 8 years old...Beau can be a sweet dog...Beau is food xxxx@xxxx.x has full range of the house during the work day which can sometimes be as much as 12 hours (not on purpose)... I rescued Beau in November 2023...previous owner stated that he was rescued as a small pup from a puppy mill...he was being rehomed last November due to change in living arrangements... Beau will need to be the only dog...do not attempt to use a gate or crate as he knows what it looks like and will charge and nip to avoid it... Beau is great for long walks...he has walked as much as 6 miles... Beau is a creature of habit...once the routine is established, he understands and will be in compliance...to gain compliance, must use a treat to avoid aggressive behavior... Human Compatibility: Beau is good with the adult who most takes care of him...whenever I have guest, Beau is on a leash and/or contained in a separate room...

Story
Lucy is a beautiful, young red and black tri-color Beagle. I believe she had a very rough start to her young life and she had a challenging time during her first weeks of adjusting to life as a foster in our home. She was extremely fearful of us but seemed to gain her confidence by following our dogs around. But with time, patience, a thunder shirt and a lot of love she learned to trust people again and started approaching us for attention. She has been around other dogs and people and did very well. She has had some children pet her and she was fine. She’s very curious about our cat but does not bother her. She looks forward to her meals now and eats without being fearful. She exhibited extreme anxiety in a closed crate so we let her choose where she sleeps. Sometimes she will sleep in a crate with the door open but she seems to prefer the dog bed at night and for naps. She caught on to the doggie door quickly and has had very few accidents. Her separation anxiety is much better and we usually leave each dog with a frozen Kong if we have to go away for awhile. She is a quiet pup but likes to join in the welcome home chorus when we come home. She walks fairly well on a leash but her Beagle nose does dictate her navigation. She loves to run in an open field that is fenced with the other dogs. She LOVES toys and empties the toy basket faithfully every single day. She likes to do zoomies in our fenced yard and loves when we play “chase” with her. She can handle short car rides but does get car sick on longer trips. She now has prescription meds for her motion sickness but we have not had the chance to try it yet. She is definitely showing her playful, curious and affectionate personality now. Lucy needs a rescue-experienced adopter who is familiar with anxiety and its signs and symptoms. She will do best in in a home with a fenced yard where alone time is very minimal and another dog would be a big bonus since she loves to cuddle with our senior dog. She is a gentle soul that has just gotten the hang of “being a dog”. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Meet Cooper, he is a sweet boy about 5 years old. He was found running loose and taken to a shelter in Ohio. He is a very friendly and lovable boy. He enjoys cuddling on the couch with his family and loves to be petted. Cooper weighs about 26 pounds. And...he has the cutest pink nose ! Cooper is housebroken with the use of a doggy door. He gets along wonderful with our 4 Beagles and likes children and anyone that will give him attention! He enjoys car rides and playing with toys, running after balls and Nyla bones. When Cooper came to the shelter, he tested positive for Lyme disease. He completed 2 rounds of antibiotics and is doing well. Cooper sleeps in his crate at night next to our bed with no fuss. During the day he has freedom of the house. Cooper is a special needs dog due to round the clock medication for seizures and he needs a family that is home most of the time to give him his meds. He may have a mild seizure now and then but the medication has for the most part controlled them. If Cooper sounds like your boy, please contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Charlie is a very handsome 6-year-old beagle boy searching for his forever home. He loves his humans and enjoys getting attention from his foster mom. He is housetrained, loves car rides, potties in his fenced yard and during his walks. He follows the lead from the other dogs in his foster home. During walks he is very curious about any wildlife smells. He has a high prey drive and will try to climb over the fence. Charlie’s new home will require a very secure fence and close supervision when in the yard. Charlie would do best in a home where he is the only dog. Because of his high prey drive, he will need a home with no cats. Charlie is a very loving medium energy dog and will make the perfect addition for the right home. Contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor if you would like to know more about Charlie. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Foster mom here, and I’m excited to have the chance to brag about my 4 beagle mix boys Pepper, Basil, Dill, and Paprika!! They are Beagle on their mom’s side, but even if I wanted to lie, the camera doesn’t and they do not look like Beagles. That is not such bad news for you puppy people though. I will tell you they are the best of both worlds. Their DNA on the dad’s side says that they are 30% Shiba Inu, 16% Australian Cattle Dog, and then bringing up the rear small amounts of Border Collie and German Shepherd. What this means is: they have the bright and spunky personality of a beagle puppy, but they are very smart and trainable. At only seven weeks of age, they learned boundaries almost immediately and they all respond to tone and voice and modify their behavior immediately. This is unusual for such young puppies. They are also taking small steps to housetrain themselves Looks-wise, you have to see the photos and decide what works for you. They have some floppy beagle ears and some Shiba Inu curly tails (some are white tipped like mom’s) but they are so wonderfully unique we are in love here at home. DNA confirms: 52% beagle and 30% Shibu Inu. They will be completely vetted and ready to go the weekend of April 20. At that time, they will be 9 weeks old. Experience and research indicate that they should be medium sized dogs, give or take 40lbs when fully grown. Fill out our application and once we make sure you are a good home for one of these princes, I’ll be happy to answer any and all questions and send videos. I’ll tell you which one is a talker, which one likes to watch TV, and which one is a pain in the butt yet so worth it! NOTE: Dogs may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
