Story
Lucy is a beautiful, young red and black tri-color Beagle. I believe she had a very rough start to her young life and she had a challenging time during her first weeks of adjusting to life as a foster in our home. She was extremely fearful of us but seemed to gain her confidence by following our dogs around. But with time, patience, a thunder shirt and a lot of love she learned to trust people again and started approaching us for attention. She has been around other dogs and people and did very well. She has had some children pet her and she was fine. She’s very curious about our cat but does not bother her. She looks forward to her meals now and eats without being fearful. She exhibited extreme anxiety in a closed crate so we let her choose where she sleeps. Sometimes she will sleep in a crate with the door open but she seems to prefer the dog bed at night and for naps. She caught on to the doggie door quickly and has had very few accidents. Her separation anxiety is much better and we usually leave each dog with a frozen Kong if we have to go away for awhile. She is a quiet pup but likes to join in the welcome home chorus when we come home. She walks fairly well on a leash but her Beagle nose does dictate her navigation. She loves to run in an open field that is fenced with the other dogs. She LOVES toys and empties the toy basket faithfully every single day. She likes to do zoomies in our fenced yard and loves when we play “chase” with her. She can handle short car rides but does get car sick on longer trips. She now has prescription meds for her motion sickness but we have not had the chance to try it yet. She is definitely showing her playful, curious and affectionate personality now. Lucy needs a rescue-experienced adopter who is familiar with anxiety and its signs and symptoms. She will do best in in a home with a fenced yard where alone time is very minimal and another dog would be a big bonus since she loves to cuddle with our senior dog. She is a gentle soul that has just gotten the hang of “being a dog”. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Meet Cooper, he is a sweet boy about 5 years old. He was found running loose and taken to a shelter in Ohio. He is a very friendly and lovable boy. He enjoys cuddling on the couch with his family and loves to be petted. Cooper weighs about 26 pounds. And...he has the cutest pink nose ! Cooper is housebroken with the use of a doggy door. He gets along wonderful with our 4 Beagles and likes children and anyone that will give him attention! He enjoys car rides and playing with toys, running after balls and Nyla bones. When Cooper came to the shelter, he tested positive for Lyme disease. He completed 2 rounds of antibiotics and is doing well. Cooper sleeps in his crate at night next to our bed with no fuss. During the day he has freedom of the house. Cooper is a special needs dog due to round the clock medication for seizures and he needs a family that is home most of the time to give him his meds. He may have a mild seizure now and then but the medication has for the most part controlled them. If Cooper sounds like your boy, please contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Charlie is a very handsome 6-year-old beagle boy searching for his forever home. He loves his humans and enjoys getting attention from his foster mom. He is housetrained, loves car rides, potties in his fenced yard and during his walks. He follows the lead from the other dogs in his foster home. During walks he is very curious about any wildlife smells. He has a high prey drive and will try to climb over the fence. Charlie’s new home will require a very secure fence and close supervision when in the yard. Charlie would do best in a home where he is the only dog. Because of his high prey drive, he will need a home with no cats. Charlie is a very loving medium energy dog and will make the perfect addition for the right home. Contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor if you would like to know more about Charlie. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! At five months old, she’s all puppy and is a bit klutzy as she’s still growing. Once she gets her sea legs, though, she’d make a great companion for an avid walker or runner. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, so supervision while she’s playing is a good idea. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 40 to 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. She does well in a crate at night and is mostly housetrained with a doggy door, although she still has the occasional accident. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

Story
Mocha is a super sweet, loving and gentle girl. She is 8 years old and weighs 24 pounds. Mocha spent her first 8 years being used to make puppies. With her old life behind her Mocha is ready to live her best dog life and find her forever family. Mocha has been discovering just how much fun it is to be a dog! Some of her favorite things to do include being outside and sniffing in the yard, car rides, dog parks, going on walks, sitting in the window and barking at dogs that walk by, sunbathing, belly rubs and getting lots of love from her foster family. Mocha enjoys chew toys and yummy dog treats. Mocha loves being warm and will lay next to the fireplace or in direct rays of sunshine. She likes curling up in the soft dog beds and enjoys cuddling in the laps of her people. At times, Mocha can be a little on the timid side and cowers a bit when a person reaches down to her. She is leery of being picked up but she obliges and is doing much better as she gains trust in her humans. Mocha walks well on leash and is comfortable and friendly approaching other dogs/people. She has a moderate prey drive and usually has her nose to the ground. She likes to sniff and follow critter scents and will occasionally dig. This girl has so much love to give. Mocha would do best in a home with a fenced yard for her to explore. She would love a home where she gets lots of belly rubs, goes on regular walks and most importantly be with a family that will love her forever. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Hello, I'm Snoopy! I came to Midwest BREW after I was brought to the shelter because my original owner couldn't take care of me anymore. My foster mom says I'm the snuggliest beagle she's ever met. I'm a stout boy - on the shorter side, but still around 30 pounds. Foster mom says I am low-energy - my favorite things are to snuggle on the couch with you, and sleep on the couch or the dog bed. I like to go outside and sleep in the sun, and sniff around the yard, and I like to walk. I still pull on the leash a little. And did I mention how much I love dog treats? I am between 6 and 7 years old, and mostly healthy. I do have a small mast cell tumor on one of my back feet, and I am on a couple medications daily that help. Foster mom just puts the medicine in pill pockets and I think I'm getting a treat! The tumor will eventually start to bother me more, but right now I feel good and I'm happy. I have been really great at my foster mom's house. I was already housetrained, so I haven't had any accidents. I don't have any problems being left alone for a long time either - I just sleep on the couch or the dog bed until you get home. I get along really well with the other two beagles at the house, and will snuggle with them sometimes. I really prefer to snuggle with people though! I am really good with older kids, but haven't been around super little ones very much. Foster mom isn't sure about how I will do with cats either. If you want to know more about me, please talk to Midwest BREW! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Beau is about 8 years old...Beau can be a sweet dog...Beau is food motivated...he has full range of the house during the work day which can sometimes be as much as 12 hours (not on purpose)... I rescued Beau in November 2023...previous owner stated that he was rescued as a small pup from a puppy mill...he was being rehomed last November due to change in living arrangements... Beau will need to be the only dog...do not attempt to use a gate or crate as he knows what it looks like and will charge and nip to avoid it... Beau is great for long walks...he has walked as much as 6 miles... Beau is a creature of habit...once the routine is established, he understands and will be in compliance...to gain compliance, must use a treat to avoid aggressive behavior... Human Compatibility: Beau is good with the adult who most takes care of him...whenever I have guest, Beau is on a leash and/or contained in a separate room...

Irving is a very handsome boy, likely a Hound/Beagle mix (?), he’s approx. 2 years old, he weighs about 45 pounds, and he’s a happy and wonderful dog. Irving enjoys meeting new people, taking walks (he walks well on a leash), chasing a ball, and hanging out with his gal pal, Ingrid. Irving came to us (along with Ingrid) when their family said they weren’t able to provide for their safety while living in a busy area. They are both well mannered and seem to enjoy meeting other nice dogs.
