Story
This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! At 7 months old and 35 pounds, Avalon is all puppy and is still growing. She’d make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker or runner or an active family. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, so supervision while she’s playing is a good idea. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 40 to 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. She’s cautious around strangers but will warm up to them if given time to get to know them. Avalon’s foster mom says that she a very smart girl and is picking up obedience basics such as “sit,” “wait,” and “come,” and is working on improving her leash manners. Avalon rides well in the car and goes to doggy daycare two or three days a week, where she really seems to enjoy hanging out and playing with her friends there. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. When it’s time to go to sleep, Avalon is equally happy to snuggle up in a dog bed or people bed – she just wants to be comfy! She’s housetrained with the use of a doggy door. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

Toby is a 1 and 1/2 year old ginger beagle. He is very energetic and needs lots of exercise. He would do best as the only dog. He does play with the other dogs in the house but likes to be the alpha male and on occasion has growled at the other foster dog. He likes attention. He loves his toys and treats. This handsome beagle is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention and get plenty of exercise. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Hi, I'm Perry! I'm such a unique and special boy. Last summer I was hit by a car and sustained serious damage to my front legs. One leg needed to be amputated and the other has some nerve damage that never fully recovered. Don’t let that fool you though! I can get around very well, go up and down stairs, jump on the couch and bed, and even play ball for hours. I do have a prosthesis that was especially made for me. I am very dog selective and it has been determined I should be in an only dog home. I absolutely adore people, children, cats and playing outside. If you are looking for a very handsome boy with a survivor story to tell, contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor for more information about me! Story
Blaze has classic beagle good looks and charm, and in keeping with his name, he has a blaze of white on his adorable face! He weighs 25 pounds and will celebrate his fourth birthday on the first of September. Blaze gets along well with cats and other canines but would prefer to be the one and only dog in your life. A home with minimal alone time would be best – he prefers to be with his people as much as possible. When meeting new people, Blaze is cautious but friendly – and treats go a long way in helping him make friends. A calm home that will allow Blaze the time he needs to build confidence and trust in his family would be ideal. Blaze has been around children 6 years old and up and does well with them if approached respectfully. For a dog who spent his entire life living outside, Blaze has picked up on house training fairly quickly. He signals his need to go outside by pacing and going to the door. He will potty on a leash but would prefer to go in a fenced-in yard. Blaze is a low-to-medium-energy beagle who enjoys being a couch potato – he loves to nap and lounge during the day and get all of the belly rubs he can. However, he does like going for walks and wouldn’t dream of missing his regular evening outing with his foster dad, running alongside him on his bike. Blaze loves spending time outside rolling around and doing cute little army crawls in the grass. A trip to the park or local ice cream stand for a pup cup will be a breeze as he rides well in the car. During the day, Blaze will hang out in his crate, but at night he always sleeps in his comfy dog bed right next to the big bed so he can be close to foster mom and dad. If you think this handsome young fellow might be a good fit for your family, his foster mom would be happy to tell you more about him! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
My name is Lady Liberty (aka Lady). I’m almost 3 years old and weigh 24 pounds. My DNA testing shows that I’m a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/beagle mix. What does this mean? It means I’m the cutest dog ever, with the softest, silkiest fur you could ever imagine! Just look at my pictures, and you’ll see what I’m talking about! I need to let you know I had a hard life before I was rescued. My foster mom doesn’t know what I went through prior to getting picked up by animal control and put in a shelter, but she knows it must have been difficult because it has taken me several months to get comfortable with my foster family. I’m very wary around strangers, but I love getting attention from my foster family. I’m scared of children as well and will bark at them, so I will require an adult-only home that is peaceful and calm. I’m much more comfortable with women than with men, so my primary caregiver should be an adult woman, and if possible, I would prefer to live in a female-only home. To help me cope with my issues, my foster mom took me to a veterinary behavior specialist who prescribed a daily medication protocol and gave foster mom a lot of advice about helping me work through my fears and anxiety. The medications and the training tips have helped me a lot, and foster mom will share all of the great advice with my new family so they can continue to work with me. I will also need to continue taking my medications as well. I like most other dogs, and I like to chase, wrestle, and play “bitey-face” with my foster siblings. I’m submissive towards other dogs, so it’s okay by me if other dogs want to be the boss – I’m not going to argue with them! I’d love to have a canine sibling to play with in my new home, but it’s not absolutely necessary – I’d be quite happy to be an only dog and have all of the love and attention to myself! Even though I like playing with other dogs, foster mom thinks that doggie daycare would be a bad idea for me as I might get overwhelmed by all of the noise and activity. My foster home has a fenced-in yard, and I love to go outside and romp with the other dogs. Once I get past my fear, you’ll see that I have a lot of playfulness and puppy behaviors – playing keep-away with my foster mom’s socks is probably my favorite game! I enjoy playing with my toys, too, but I need to have very durable ones because I am quite the chewer! I’m hesitant to get in the car, but once I’m inside I ride very calmly and quietly as long as I can see my human. At night, I sleep either downstairs on the couch or on the dog bed next to foster mom’s bed. Sometimes I take naps in my crate, which has become my safe space. I’m housetrained and will let you know I have to go potty by going to the door. I enjoy sharing my vocal talents by barking at foster mom to tell her when it’s time to feed me (which I think should be really often), time for a treat (also often), time to go out, time to come back inside…you get the picture! I must say hello to anyone who passes by, including the neighbors, the rabbits, and even the neighborhood cats who like to tease me from outside the fence. I make an excellent alarm system! I am adorable and sweet, and even though I’m still very timid, I’ve made tremendous strides since I was rescued. I’m in search of a loving home where I can feel safe and loved and continue to become a more confident dog. If you want to be my fur-ever family, please contact Midwest BREW. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Hi! My name is Peppa, am 7 months old and full of energetic fun. There are a few toys I really like but mostly I like to run and play chase with the dogs at daycare. I would love a forever home with a big backyard and/or an active family to run with. My foster mom says I walk well on a leash, but y’all know no straight lines with my beagle nose to the ground. The only thing I love more than going for a walk is riding in the car… my ears flapping in the breeze. It’s glorious! I flash my big smile to all the people we pass, but don’t worry, I don’t bark too much and never get sick. As you can see by my long legs, I’m taller than the average beagle and weigh about 33 pounds. DNA tests say I’m a beagle/ boxer/ terrier mix though you won’t hear me bay the classic Arrrooo. I love everyone and get so excited when I see people that I tend to jump on them, so I will need more training with this. Foster mom has been helping me with sit, stay, and all the usual tricks. I’ll do anything for a treat and belly rub. If you think I’m the girl of your dreams, contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor or fill in your adoption application today! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hello! I’m Tanbo (now named Snoop). I was adopted from Last Day Dog Rescue as a pup and now see myself back here due to family issues. I’m a very inquisitive pup and like to find my way into many things, but I’m learning that I’m not allowed to do so.  Anything to do with treats and I’ll be right there with you, but if you have your own food, I may sniff it. I really like to play with toys. As long as the toys are not stuffed, we won’t have a mess. I shred them within minutes, so harder chews would be best. I like to go for walks, I’m leash trained with slight pulling but I’m learning how not to do that. While we are out on our walks, I like to sniff everything I can because it’s all so interesting to me. After our long walks I like to curl up on the couch next to my humans and sleep. I enjoy being under the covers with them as well! When meeting new people, I do bark. Once I get to know them, I’m fine. I do get along with other dogs, I just bark a lot. However, I also resource guard my toys, so being an only dog may be best for me. I do chase cats, so I might not be the best with them. My current humans think I may have some separation anxiety, so for now I will have to be in a crate until I calm down and learn they will come back. I was just recently diagnosed with Cushing’s disease so I will be medicated for the rest of my life, but that doesn’t make me any different to love. Hey guys! My name is Hunter. I am an older gentleman that steals the hearts of everyone I meet. I am new to CCRC so they are still learning about me.  More details will be updated soon.  If you wish to meet me, please fill out an application today!  We do not have a facility for you to visit.  WE PROCESS APPLICANTS AND SET APPOINTMENTS BASED ON THE ORDER APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED , so while you are welcome to email  ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, you will want to complete the  ONLINE APPLICATION ASAP ,  which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find  a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10 day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fee is $220 for adults, $295 for puppies (under 6 months), and $150 for seniors (8 yrs and up) which covers the cost of the spay/neuter, age appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. The majority of dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers, so there is often very little known about their history or even current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC provides a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, as well as telephone support.   July 26, 2024, 4:21 pm

Story
Ace was a stray Dog. We found him on the west side of Detroit in the middle of the street and under a house. Our family decided to take him and get Ace back to health. Our family immediately took him to the vet to get him checked out and gave him the shots that he was needed. Over the years, I family kept up with his shots. Furthermore, he is now house trained, and knows his basic training, sit, down, stay and more!! We are looking to rehome him to a perfect home sense we did our duties by bringing him back to health and ready for another home to be happy with him.
