This 3 - 5 year old, 22 pound beagle radiates sweetness. He's gentle, affectionate, and happiest when he's near his people or curled up with another dog. His house manners are excellent — he's never had an accident and uses the dog door like a pro. Bugs loves having a fenced yard where he can trot around and do a few joyful zoomies each day. Inside, he's a calm, content companion who enjoys napping near the resident beagles, watching the world go by from the front window, and playing with his beloved toys. Evening snuggles are a must in his book. He rides beautifully in the car and sleeps soundly in a dog bed next to his foster mom. Bugs isn't a big fan of the crate, but he doesn't need one — he can be trusted alone as long as chewable items are put away. Walks are still new to him, but he gains confidence when he has another dog by his side. He'd do best in a home with a friendly canine companion. Bugs recently completed heartworm treatment with no symptoms and will need a retest in October, along with lifelong monthly prevention. He also tested positive for Lyme, ehrlichia, and anaplasmosis and completed a month of doxycycline without any symptoms. Bugs has loved every child he's met and would be thrilled to join an active, loving family who enjoys playtime, cuddles, and lots of love. I am a stunning 15-inch blue tick beagle, and under three years old (DOB 07-26-23). I had a family that included other dogs. Unfortunately, we needed new homes because of our owners’ ages and health issues. I am a good girl – friendly with other dogs, docile, loving and well socialized. I was an outdoor dog, so I am working on potty training and adjusting to the “newness” of being inside a home. I really enjoy being in a home, and I have not destroyed anything other than some dents in the dog toys! My foster parents said my energy level is medium, but it can be medium-high as times (more on that in a bit). My previous owners trained me for trail runs, but I have officially started my retirement from those activities. Because of my trail run experience, I have a very strong hunt drive, this is where my energy level moves to medium-high. Although I am approximately 36 lbs., do not let that fool you into thinking I need a diet - I am slim, it is all muscle! My foster parents are using “clicker” training to help me break my focus on scents when I am outside. It is in-progress training, but I am improving. I will not do well in a home with cats or smaller animals such as guinea pigs. Note from the foster home: Sheila is an extremely sweet, loving and funny foster dog. She is VERY smart. She loves to “hug” us with her front legs. Her transition into a home is going much quicker than expected. She is good with our resident beagle, but her playing patterns can be a little too much for our resident - Emma is significantly smaller than Sheila. Sheila has been good at interacting with older children in the neighborhood. We do not have a fenced yard, but she potties on a leash. Any leashed activities need to be handled by adults only. She is fully crate trained. Color about fence experience was provided by previous owners – she could climb the fenced-in recreational area with or without the assistance of the surrounding trees. Sheila is still adjusting to being in a car – it upsets her stomach, but anti-nausea medication helps. She will do well in a patient home while she continues to transition into trail run retirement. We recommend an adult only home (she has an entire repertoire of loud noises that would not be conducive for an apartment or townhouse). I was adopted as a puppy and sadly found my way back to the rescue due to family circumstances. While that wasn’t the plan, I’m hoping my forever family is still out there waiting for me! I’m a very curious and inquisitive guy—I love to sniff around and investigate everything going on in my world. When I first came back to the rescue, stuffed toys were actually banned for me because I used to immediately shred them. The good news? I’ve improved! I can have them again now… although I’ll admit I still enjoy chewing on them and occasionally pulling some stuffing out. Old habits die hard. When it comes to playmates, I really enjoy dogs that are smaller than me—they’re my kind of crowd! Bigger dogs, though? I’d rather keep my distance. I also tend to chase cats, so a cat-free home would probably be best. I would also do best in a home without younger children, as I prefer a calmer environment where I can relax and feel comfortable. One of my favorite things in the world is treats and cuddling with my humans. If you have a blanket, just know it automatically becomes our blanket. In fact, if you see a lump under a blanket on the couch, you might want to check before sitting down… it could be me! Because I only have 21 teeth left, crunchy treats are a little tough for me to chew. Softer chews are my favorite! And since I’m missing a few teeth, my tongue hangs out about 95% of the time, which just adds to my charm. As a senior gentleman, I do have a couple medical conditions. I have Cushing’s disease and low B12, which means I’ll need medication for the rest of my life. I also take a little medicine for separation anxiety when my humans leave, but if you’re just gone for a few hours, I’ll handle it like a champ. What I’m really looking for is a cozy home, some soft treats, a warm blanket, and humans who love to cuddle as much as I do. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Murray is a Beagle mix estimated to be about 10 years old.  He is a very gentle, low-maintenance, easy dog and, despite his age, has a spring in his step and can run surprisingly fast.  He displays those lovable [but occasionally annoying] Beagle behaviors such as magically appearing when there is food to be had, letting his nose direct his steps...usually in haste to a tantalizing smell, lavishing his affection on humans and sleeping the night away with visions of squirrels dancing in his head!  Murray enjoys walks and does great on leash. After his walk, he patiently waits for you to wipe his feet off so he doesn’t track debris into the house.  He loves rolling in the grass and soaking up the sunshine.  Murray is house-trained and a gentleman in the home. He is very quiet.  He does exhibit some mild separation anxiety when left alone but is not destructive.  When you return, whether it’s been 2 minutes or 3 hours, Murray greets you like you are a rock star! He forms a strong bond with his family and is very loyal. Murray requires only gentle correction or redirection.  His whole life is focused on pleasing his humans!  He also loves other canine companions and would love to have a canine friend. Though 10-ish, Murray still has several good years ahead of him.  He is healthy, has no known medical issues, is UTD on vaccines, neutered and microchipped.  He came into care with rotted teeth and open nasal fistulas and had extensive dental surgery to remove all his remaining rotted teeth and suture the fistulas.  Murray has recovered well from his surgery. Because all his teeth were removed his tongue hangs out all the time. But that only makes him all the cuter!  He has a healthy appetite and eats soft food with dry kibble softened with warm water.   Murray just wants a family to love….could it be yours?     Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
