Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Murray! Murray is a senior Beagle/Chihuahua mix estimated to be about 10 years old.  He was brought into a rural OH shelter along with his two canine friends. Murray is a gentle dog and, despite his age, has a spring in his step and can run surprisingly fast.  He displays those lovable [but occasionally annoying] Beagle behaviors such as magically appearing when there is food to be had, letting his nose direct his steps...usually in haste to the tantalizing smell, lavishing his affection on humans and efforts to 'escape' his harness and/or collar, hence the need for a securely fenced yard.  Murray enjoy walks and does well on leash, but prefers to just run around at his leisure for a bit before tuckering out and taking a nap.   Murray only has 1 or 2 teeth and they are at the back of his mouth so his tongue hangs out all the time.  He takes a bit of time to feel comfortable in his environment and runs to his crate, his 'safe space', when unsure of things.  He has no aggression, just startles easily.  He would do best with another canine companion around his size as he lights up when he meets another dog.  He currently lives with a 10 pound Pom mix and loves his company.  Murray is a solid 20+ pounds.  He eats wet food and kibble softened with water. Murray is UTD on vaccines and had a negative Heartworm test.  He is scheduled for neuter early May 2026. He will be microchipped prior to adoption.   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.JJ is nicknamed “Big Guy” because he is 5lbs heavier than his brothers. He takes charge, but allows his brothers to get the better of him. A ball of energy looking for the next new thing. He is a loving happy puppy. JJ is not an apartment dog and would do best with a fenced in yard. HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter. &#226&#128&#139Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hi, I’m Tanbo… but my friends call me Snoop! I was adopted as a puppy and sadly found my way back to the rescue due to family circumstances. While that wasn’t the plan, I’m hoping my forever family is still out there waiting for me! I’m a very curious and inquisitive guy—I love to sniff around and investigate everything going on in my world. When I first came back to the rescue, stuffed toys were actually banned for me because I used to immediately shred them. The good news? I’ve improved! I can have them again now… although I’ll admit I still enjoy chewing on them and occasionally pulling some stuffing out. Old habits die hard. When it comes to playmates, I really enjoy dogs that are smaller than me—they’re my kind of crowd! Bigger dogs, though? I’d rather keep my distance. I also tend to chase cats, so a cat-free home would probably be best. I would also do best in a home without younger children, as I prefer a calmer environment where I can relax and feel comfortable. One of my favorite things in the world is treats and cuddling with my humans. If you have a blanket, just know it automatically becomes our blanket. In fact, if you see a lump under a blanket on the couch, you might want to check before sitting down… it could be me! Because I only have 21 teeth left, crunchy treats are a little tough for me to chew. Softer chews are my favorite! And since I’m missing a few teeth, my tongue hangs out about 95% of the time, which just adds to my charm. As a senior gentleman, I do have a couple medical conditions. I have Cushing’s disease and low B12, which means I’ll need medication for the rest of my life. I also take a little medicine for separation anxiety when my humans leave, but if you’re just gone for a few hours, I’ll handle it like a champ. What I’m really looking for is a cozy home, some soft treats, a warm blanket, and humans who love to cuddle as much as I do. If that sounds like you, I think we might be a perfect match.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. April 27, 2026, 8:40 am

ROSCO 5 years Attributes Snuggly Potties on leash Crate trained Working on housetraining Requires a fence Dog friendly Meet Rosco – 5 Years Old, 16 Pounds of Pure Loyalty. Rosco is a sweet, affectionate little guy who loves nothing more than curling up for snuggles and staying close to his favorite person. He’s a true “shadow dog” who finds comfort in companionship and thrives in a calm, patient home. Rosco enjoys his walks—sometimes with a bit of excited pulling—and feels secure in a crate as long as he’s in the same room as his humans. He’s familiar with using a dog door and is well on his way with house training, especially when kept on a consistent routine. A secure yard would be a wonderful bonus for him to explore and relax in. Rosco gets along with the other dogs in the foster home. His foster family feels that he can do well with other dogs as long as they are confident yet respect his space. He has been fed in a separate area to prevent any disagreements with his canine siblings. Rosco is looking for a committed family who can offer structure, reassurance, and plenty of love. In return, he’ll be a devoted companion who sticks by your side and fills your home with warmth and love. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
WAYLON 1 year Attributes: Dog friendly Shy Crate trained Low energy House trained Requires a fence Fence jumper Meet Waylon Waylon is a 1½-year-old, 22-pound beagle boy with the softest heart and the sweetest soul. He was found loose in Indiana and spent several months in a shelter. He is fearful and shy when meeting new people. He will bond very strongly to a female and would thrive with someone who wants a loyal little shadow. Waylon is crate trained and also potty trained using a dog door. He gets along well with our 3 beagles and is a true couch potato at heart. He enjoys quietly playing with his toys and chewing on his Nyla bones before curling up beside "his person." Waylon would do best in a quiet, female-only household. He is very fearful of men. He MUST have a secure 6-foot wooded fenced yard. Another calm dog could help him continue building confidence. He needs someone patient and gentle who wants to continue his training and socialization building. If you have a peaceful home, a kind heart, and room on your couch, Waylon may be your perfect match. 💙 NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
JUNO 2 years Attributes Dog friendly Needs another dog Not good w/cats Housetrained Crate trained Potties on leash Needs a fence Fence jumper Likes car rides Playful High energy Juno is a petite, 17-pound beagle with a massive zest for life! Don't let her small size fool you; she is a busy, athletic girl who needs plenty of action and attention. She is currently in constant play mode with her foster beagle siblings and would absolutely thrive in a home with another dog to wrestle and run with. If you are interested in dog sports like agility, frisbee, or flyball, Juno will be your perfect partner. This smart girl pays close attention, reacts well to gestures, and is eager to learn. However, her classic beagle prey drive means if she spots a bunny or a squirrel outside, she's ready to launch! Juno is quite the acrobat—she can easily clear a 2-foot fence and will scale 3- or 4-foot fences if there is something for paw holds. She will need a securely fenced yard (preferably tall, solid privacy fencing) and a watchful eye when she is out exploring. Juno is incredibly outgoing and friendly to everyone she meets. Rather than jumping up when approached, she politely bows down for pets. While she is a champion player with other dogs, her high activity level means she is likely too rambunctious for cats or toddlers. She has already mastered potty and crate training, but she is still a young soul who will need your help learning basic house manners and how to walk nicely on a leash. Scent-driven, food-motivated, a beautiful singer, and incredibly sweet, Juno is all beagle! After a long day of running and playing, she loves nothing more than to settle down and cuddle. If you have an active lifestyle, love outdoor adventures, and have experience with the wonderful quirks of hounds, Juno might just be your perfect match. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
