Story
Hey there! I’m new to Rescue Gang.I just arrived and I'm still getting settled in. The team is taking time to help me feel safe and learn all about my unique quirks and personality. So far I've proven to be a good, well behaved, and trained young lady. I do not like sharing my things, especially food and treats with other dogs. I guess you can say I've selective about who I allow my friends to be. Im a medium sized (27 pounds) beagle mix who would love a home of my very own. I heard beagles were the "in" dog right now so I don't know how I ended up here without a home!Since Rescue Gang is a foster-based rescue, most of us live in private homes. That means you’ll need an approved application to chat with my foster and learn more about me.If you’re interested, email adopt@rescuegang.org to apply to ask questions. I can’t wait to meet my future family!

Story
🐾 Meet Maya – Part of Our Lovely Lady Beagle Brigade 🩷 Hi, I’m Maya! I’m about 1½ years old and weigh 21 lbs. I’ve been with my foster family since Cinco de Mayo, and for the first time in my life, I’m learning what it feels like to be safe, loved, and cared for. When I arrived with the group of Ridglan beagles, I immediately stood out—not only because of my beautiful coloring, but also because of my independent, shy, and curious personality. I’m the kind of girl who likes to take my time, observe the world around me, and learn to trust at my own pace. I’m a very sweet girl, but I’m also very shy. The world is still a scary place for me, so I’m looking for a patient family that will let me grow with confidence. I absolutely love having other dogs around—they help me feel safe—and I even live happily with a cat! I’m happiest in a calm home where I can snuggle up with my people. I’m still working on potty training and building confidence, and because I’m a flight risk, I’ll need a secure fenced yard and a family committed to keeping me safe. My crate is my comfort zone, and it helps me feel secure while I continue to learn. A few things about me: 🐶 1½ years old | 21 lbs 🐾 Dog friendly 🐱 Cat friendly 💕 Loves to cuddle 😴 Champion snorer when I fall asleep in your arms 🏡 Requires a secure fenced yard ❤️ Calm, patient home preferred ✔️ Home visit required before adoption My foster family loves me dearly and is committed to finding the perfect forever home where I can continue to blossom. They will work closely with my adopter to ensure I have everything I need to succeed—even if that means making a few adjustments, like adding dog gates to keep me safe. If you have the patience to let a shy little beagle discover just how wonderful life can be, I promise I’ll reward you with quiet companionship, endless love, and the sweetest snuggles. Could you be my forever family? 🩷🐾 ⭐️Only accepting applicants within a 2 hour radius of Milwaukee⭐️ Adoption Fee $400 Apply here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SCGM/Dog

Story
History: Maple is a 1 year 4 month old Ridglan Farms rescue and spent her entire life up until this point living in a wire cage at a testing lab. Everything is new , exciting, and scary and she will need a home that will give her time to decompress, give her time to get comfortable and feel safe , and that is dedicated to continuing training with her. Health: Maple has been spayed and is up to date with vaccinations and is in good health. No medications currently needed except the standard monthly Heartguard and flea and tick medications. Potty training is a work in progress. She will go outside but still will also go inside on a pee pad if we don’t get her out in time. She is still learning how to tell us she needs to go out. She will wear a diaper in the house currently just in case. Foster Home: Maple is currently being fostered in Hartford WISleep Style: Maple currently sleeps in her own dog bed on the floor next to her fosters bed , but she would love to sleep in bed with you😊 Maple is still learning to relax throughout the night and at times gets the zoomies and instead of sleeping , wants to play. Giving her exercise of some sort before bedtime seems to help her sleep through the night. Activity Level: Moderate to High. Maple is just learning the fun of playing with toys and loves being outside and rolling in the grass. Her “Sploot” is adorable. A house with a fenced yard would be ideal but not mandatory. She loves going for walks, “sniffaffari’s”, and loves to run. Her nose will at times take over and she will follow a scent and just keep going. Leash skills continue to be a work in progress. Maple is figuring out how to play with toys and has begun to play with them on her own as well as with her people. She loves to chew, is still in puppy mode, and will chew on objects she finds on the ground outside and inside. Friendly with: Maple is very interested in other dogs and would love a confident , dog friendly , dog savvy , dog sibling to play with and to learn from. She is initially fearful of unfamiliar dogs until an introduction and then once she realizes the dog is friendly will attempt to engage in play. She loves following around her foster siblings and will attempt to engage them in play. She is still learning proper socialization and will take toys from or try and eat out of her foster siblings bowls, so she is fed separately. She does take correction from her foster siblings well and will typically then walk away. Maple has not been tested with children but it is felt she would do fine with older children given time to get comfortable. Very young children may be too much for her right now due to the fact that she is fearful of loud sounds and quick unexpected movements. She has not been cat tested, but has a strong prey drive so they might not be a good fit. Bark O meter: 4/10, Maple is a hound and will bark or howl at times such as when a new person enters the house. Shedding Meter: 3/10When her people are not at home for safety , and when she is being fed , Maple currently spends time in a gated off area in a large mudroom, with an open crate, dog bed, toys and pee pad covered floor available to her. She will often retreat to this space when afraid such as when strangers enter the house , during loud sounds such as fireworks and sometimes just to nap. Maple has discovered that couches are comfy, she has learned that going out through the garage door isn’t so scary, car rides aren’t so bad, belly rubs are great, and even though she is still very cautious around strangers she is learning more each day that people can be trusted. Loud noises , quick movements, and people holding things in their hands are still scary. Maple is warming up more and more each day to her foster dad but currently prefers her foster mom. Each day more and more of Maples sweet and silly personality comes out. Watching her learn how to be a dog and realize she is finally safe is a gift.Requirements:-Fenced in yard-Applicants must be local and live within 2 hrs of the Milwaukee area-A virtual home visit-$400 adoption feehttps://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SCGM/Dog

Story
Meet Betsy. Betsy is a Beagle possibly Shepherd mixed cutie pie. She is 8 years young, enjoys the company of people and is totally potty trained. At 45 lbs. she is the perfect size for most homes and puppy shenanigans are a thing of the past. While she enjoys the outdoors and doing the typical Beagle sniff around, a home where she can relax with you inside and savor some family time would be a dream. Regular walks are also on her wish list. Betsy is crate trained but is not overly eager to travel in one. She is somewhat wary of strangers and does experience anxiety when she’s around other animals. Betsy is good with children of all ages. She is in good health and does well eating kibble for sensitive stomachs served in a puzzle bowl to keep her from gobbling up her food. Does Betsy sound like a good match for your family?

Story
🎵"Her name is Lola. She is a showgirl!”🎶No, literally, she is a SHOW girl. Wanna see her destroy a tissue in one fell swoop? She’ll SHOW ya! Wanna see her run full tilt around the yard with her foster dad’s sock in her mouth? She’ll SHOW ya! Wanna see her cuddle up next to a trusted human? Yup, she’ll happily SHOW ya that too!Lady Lola has come a long way in her journey from shutdown Ridglan beagle to goofball snuggle bunny. At 22 months old, Lola has just learned what playing with toys is all about and SHE LOVES IT! She is working REALLY hard on her potty training. Inside accidents happen mostly on puddle pads, which is a HUGE step for her. She is great with the kitties in her foster home and has even taken to lounging in their cat towers (see attached pic!). Lola LOVES a good walk, a Sniffari as we call them, and is getting better about being on a leash, although for only being a 15 pound peanut, it’s amazing how strong she is so HOLD ON TIGHT! At night, she sleeps in either her fluffy dog bed or wedged in between her foster mom and dad, where she barely moves a muscle until morning. She’s a good Wisconsin girl so cheese treats reign supreme in her world and she totally doesn’t mind if you sprinkle some grated cheese on her kibble. Lola is gentle, sweet, silly and, at times, understandably still a bit timid. When company visits, it takes her a while to warm up, if she chooses to at all. She is an amazing dog and would thrive in a home with another pup to teach her all things dog and also with INCREDIBLY PATIENT humans who will give her the safe space to blossom. A fenced-in, secure yard is essential for Lola and Second Chance Animals of Greater Milwaukee asks that applicants live within a two hour radius of Milwaukee. It’s truly been an honor to show Lola love, help her decompress and introduce her to the world. Now it’s time for her to take the next step and learn positive, basic dog behaviors.
