Story
Meet Scotty: the littlest beag with the biggest personality! He moves fast, plays rough, airs his grievances loudly, takes treats enthusiastically, and snuggles like it’s his full time job. Scotty’s favorite activities include chasing his foster siblings around the yard, lounging in the sun, bursting into the bounciest zoomies you’ll ever see, and curling up under a blanket after a long day of being adorable. He loves neck scratches, chew toys (current favorites include Benebones and puppy teething rings), and cozy corners to nap in. Scotty’s family will need to continue his potty, leash, and crate training. He would do best in a home without small children, as loud noises and quick action make him nervous. Scotty is approximately one year old, weighs about 20lb, is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on monthly prevention. He is good with other dogs with appropriate introductions, and has not yet met any cats or children. Please note: Our beagles are former lab dogs. Before you apply, make sure you do your research and understand what that will mean when bringing them home (we're going to ask!). These dogs will need time, patience, and positive reinforcement while they learn to exist in our world.

Story
Elliott is a gentle soul. He loves snacks, tug toys, and chin scratches. Elliott is working through some anxiety about being outside and in unfamiliar spaces. He needs a family that is equally gentle and willing to move at his pace. Elliott is intelligent, curious, and playful at heart, and enjoys partaking in puppy antics (especially with his foster brothers) in spaces where he feels comfortable. Elliott would do best with another calm and confident dog in the home to help him blossom. His family will need to continue potty, crate, and leash training using positive reinforcement. Elliott gets along with other dogs with appropriate introductions, and has not yet met kids or cats. Elliott is approximately 1.5 years old and 30lbs. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on monthly preventatives. Please note: Our beagles are former lab dogs. Before you apply, make sure you do your research and understand what that will mean when bringing them home (we're going to ask!). Story
Alfie is a project. He is by far the most shut down and anxious out of all his foster siblings. He is looking for a VERY special family that is willing to put in the time and patience to ensure he learns that the world isn't scary at his own pace. Alfie is about 1.5 years old and weighs about 25lb. His family will need to be prepared to continue work on potty, leash, and crate training using positive reinforcement. Alfie gets along with other dogs with proper introductions, and hasn't yet met kids or cats. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives. Alfie's family must have a fully fenced, secure yard as he is a flight risk. They must also have at least one confident dog that can continue to show him the ropes. Kids must be over 12 and respectful. Loud noises and sudden movements spook him. Finally, his family must have experience with dogs like Alfie and be ready to discuss what his continued rehabilitation looks like. Please note: Our beagles are former lab dogs. Before you apply, make sure you do your research and understand what that will mean when bringing them home (we're going to ask!). These dogs will need time, patience, and positive reinforcement while they learn to exist in our world.

Story
Looking for a new bandmate? Meet Owen! Owen loves snacks, chin scratches, and playing fetch… with himself! He will show you all of his puppy antics, and then melt your heart with his soulful eyes and polite requests for snuggles. This beagle loves to shred - toys, beds, pee pads, dirt piles, etc. - and has impressive vocal range and stamina. Owen absolutely adores toys, but doesn’t like to share them just yet, so he should be supervised around high-value items and during playtime, like all new dogs. So far, he enjoys using his crate as a safe space to relax in. Owen’s family will need to continue his potty and leash training, and use positive reinforcement to keep building his confidence. Owen is approximately one year old, weighs about 25lb, is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on monthly prevention. He is good with other dogs with appropriate introductions, and has not yet met any cats or children. Please note: Our beagles are former lab dogs. Meet Fritz the Busybody! This guy must know what's going on everywhere, and wants nothing more than to be included. Fritz is about 20lb, 1.5 years old, and loves being close to his people. Chewing on bones and lounging in the sunshine are two of his most favorite things. He also loves to snuggle up at the end of the day and snore in your ear. Fritz's family should be prepared to continue working on potty, leash, and crate training. He gets along with other dogs with appropriate introductions, and has not yet met kids or cats. Story
History: Maple is a 1 year 4 month old Ridglan Farms rescue and spent her entire life up until this point living in a wire cage at a testing lab. Everything is new , exciting, and scary and she will need a home that will give her time to decompress, give her time to get comfortable and feel safe , and that is dedicated to continuing training with her. Health: Maple has been spayed and is up to date with vaccinations and is in good health. No medications currently needed except the standard monthly Heartguard and flea and tick medications. Potty training is a work in progress. She will go outside but still will also go inside on a pee pad if we don’t get her out in time. She is still learning how to tell us she needs to go out. She will wear a diaper in the house currently just in case. Foster Home: Maple is currently being fostered in Hartford WISleep Style: Maple currently sleeps in her own dog bed on the floor next to her fosters bed , but she would love to sleep in bed with you😊 Maple is still learning to relax throughout the night and at times gets the zoomies and instead of sleeping , wants to play. Giving her exercise of some sort before bedtime seems to help her sleep through the night. Activity Level: Moderate to High. Maple is just learning the fun of playing with toys and loves being outside and rolling in the grass. Her “Sploot” is adorable. A house with a fenced yard would be ideal but not mandatory. She loves going for walks, “sniffaffari’s”, and loves to run. Her nose will at times take over and she will follow a scent and just keep going. Leash skills continue to be a work in progress. Maple is figuring out how to play with toys and has begun to play with them on her own as well as with her people. She loves to chew, is still in puppy mode, and will chew on objects she finds on the ground outside and inside. Friendly with: Maple is very interested in other dogs and would love a confident , dog friendly , dog savvy , dog sibling to play with and to learn from. She is initially fearful of unfamiliar dogs until an introduction and then once she realizes the dog is friendly will attempt to engage in play. She loves following around her foster siblings and will attempt to engage them in play. She is still learning proper socialization and will take toys from or try and eat out of her foster siblings bowls, so she is fed separately. She does take correction from her foster siblings well and will typically then walk away. Maple has not been tested with children but it is felt she would do fine with older children given time to get comfortable. Very young children may be too much for her right now due to the fact that she is fearful of loud sounds and quick unexpected movements. She has not been cat tested, but has a strong prey drive so they might not be a good fit. Bark O meter: 4/10, Maple is a hound and will bark or howl at times such as when a new person enters the house. Shedding Meter: 3/10When her people are not at home for safety , and when she is being fed , Maple currently spends time in a gated off area in a large mudroom, with an open crate, dog bed, toys and pee pad covered floor available to her. She will often retreat to this space when afraid such as when strangers enter the house , during loud sounds such as fireworks and sometimes just to nap. Maple has discovered that couches are comfy, she has learned that going out through the garage door isn’t so scary, car rides aren’t so bad, belly rubs are great, and even though she is still very cautious around strangers she is learning more each day that people can be trusted. Loud noises , quick movements, and people holding things in their hands are still scary. Maple is warming up more and more each day to her foster dad but currently prefers her foster mom. Each day more and more of Maples sweet and silly personality comes out. Watching her learn how to be a dog and realize she is finally safe is a gift.Requirements:-Fenced in yard-Applicants must be local and live within 2 hrs of the Milwaukee area-A virtual home visit-$400 adoption feehttps://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SCGM/Dog
