Story
-ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 35 lbs -ESTIMATED AGE: Estimated DOB 2/14/2024 -KNOWN WITH DOGS: Great, she seems to love every dog she meets and loves to play with her foster brother. -KNOWN WITH CATS: Good. She was in a temp foster home with cats who she ignored. -KNOWN WITH KIDS: Good -KNOWN CUES: Consistently sits and will usually come when called. -KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Crate trained. -KNOWN LIKES: Playing with other dogs and snuggling her favorite people. Tennis balls and really all toys. -KNOWN DISLIKES: Loud sounds and sudden movements, she is slightly timid even with those she loves when there is a lot of movement around her. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Persephone is a sweet and friendly dog. She’s a bit shy in new surroundings, and she is still learning how to be confident on leash walks. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal for this gal! She is a perfect medium sized dog. Notes from the foster: We cannot say enough about what a great dog Persephone is, her future adopters will be lucky to have such a wonderful girl! She is one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever met. She is affectionate and loves to be close to her people, and she has never met a dog she doesn’t like. She has a funny and happy personality and can often be seen jumping over her foster brother if he is in the way! She gets very timid if approached quickly and needs patience to let her acclimate to her surroundings, but after she is comfortable she is a perfect dog. Her pictures do not do her justice, she is super adorable and we think she looks a bit like a red panda! Story
💔 What if all someone ever showed you was fear... but you still chose love? Meet #Nala0213, a beautiful girl who's been quietly waiting for someone to see just how special she is. When she arrived in foster care 10 weeks ago, every sudden movement and loud noise made her cower. It was clear life hadn't always been kind to her. But with patience, love, and a safe place to heal, Nala has blossomed into the sweetest cuddle bug. Today, her favorite place is curled up beside her people on the couch or in bed. She adores playing fetch, and doing zoomies, and even running through the rain. She is house trained, crate trained, and gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and even chickens! Nala still needs a family who understands that healing takes time. New people and unfamiliar places can still make her nervous, but she recovers much more quickly than she once did. Despite her fears, she has never shown aggression—only a gentle heart that wants to feel safe and loved. 🏡 Nala's ideal home: ❤️ A patient family willing to let her build confidence at her own pace ❤️ Older children (approximately 6–8 years and up) who understand she may be timid ❤️ Lots of snuggles, love, and games of fetch Every day Nala becomes a little braver. Now all she needs is the family who will help her write the rest of her story. Could that be you? ❤️🐾 Nala is located in 📍Magnolia, TX and would love to have a foster or adopter up North.

To learn more about Roxie, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org Roxie will be at one of our adoption events this weekend! Visit our event page (https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) to see which one—event listings are usually updated on Fridays with attending dogs. Roxie's love language? Belly rubs, head scratches, and quality time! Roxie is a sweet girl whose favorite place in the world is wherever her people are. She hops right into the car, settles in beautifully at home, ignores barking dogs like it's no big deal, and politely asks for more pets by gently placing her paw on you — trust us, you won't be able to say no! The outside world is still a little overwhelming for Roxie, especially loud traffic and busy streets, so she's looking for someone who will help her build confidence at her own pace and gain positive experiences. In return, you'll get one of the sweetest, most loving companions around. She already knows "sit" and "down," takes treats like a lady, and was perfectly behaved during her stay in a volunteer's home. She has also done well both in playgroups at our Rescue Care Center and in the home with other dogs! Professional cuddle enthusiast? Check. Gentle soul? Check. Future best friend? Absolutely! All Roxie needs is a little patience, a lot of love, and someone to show her that life is pretty great. We have a feeling she'll return the favor tenfold. 🐾

Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Snuggles fetch and food!  What do these things have in common?  Ranger!  These just happen to be his most favorite things!  If you too love puppy snuggles then he’s the guy for you.   After a seemingly never ending game of fetch, Ranger will happily settle down and chill with a chew bone or even better a nap snuggled up next to his favorite person.   Food is up next on his list of faves, which makes him an ideal candidate for training! He loves to learn and picks up new skills so quickly.  All he needs is a new family to continue his education. It’s hard to believe this adorable guy was taken to a shelter in SW VA after being hit by a car and no one claimed him.  After being cleared by a vet he was able to be transferred to Mutts for a chance at a better life!  It’s taken some time for us to really get to know him but after spending quality time in not one, but two foster homes (he’s so popular two foster families are sharing his time!), we’ve discovered what an amazing boy Ranger is! To note, Ranger can be uncomfortable and reactive to some dogs while on leash.  We feel with the right fear free training, time and patience, this can be managed and improved.  Ranger has had some good play sessions with female dogs and was able to coexist in a foster home with calm, female dogs.  At this time it is best for Ranger to live in a single family home with a fenced yard where his interactions around other dogs can be managed.  He is able to go for walks with a plan and lots of treats for distractions.  Trust us when we say this love bug will be worth all the extra effort! Ranger is 40lbs and 2 yrs old.  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Story
-ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 40lbs -ESTIMATED AGE: 3 years -KNOWN WITH DOGS: good with other dogs but can be grumbly at first -KNOWN WITH CATS: unknown, can have her tested if you are interested in her and have cats. -KNOWN WITH KIDS: Previous owner said good with kids and met a staff member's 9 years old who she was very good with and enjoyed giving her daughter lots of kisses! -KNOWN CUES: will know more soon -KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Halley does well with no accidents in her kennel and settles as well. -KNOWN LIKES: Attention, playing, being loved on, playing with other dogs. -KNOWN DISLIKES: Hyperactive dogs that do not listen to her cues. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Meet Halley – A Blue-Eyed Beauty with a Heart as Beautiful as Her Eyes Some dogs catch your attention from across the room. Halley is one of those dogs. With her stunning blue eyes and striking looks, she's undeniably beautiful. But spend even a few minutes with her, and you'll realize that what makes Halley truly special has nothing to do with her appearance. It's her gentle spirit, her loving heart, and the quiet way she connects with the people around her. At 3 years old, Halley is past the whirlwind puppy stage but still has plenty of life and adventure ahead of her. She loves to be active and would happily join you for walks, hikes, road trips, or whatever adventures the day brings. But unlike many high-energy dogs, Halley balances that playful side with a wonderfully gentle nature. She's just as happy soaking up affection and spending quality time with her favorite people. From what we've seen, Halley appears to do well with other gentle dogs and seems to appreciate canine friends who match her kind, respectful energy. While proper introductions are always important, she has shown us a sweet and social side around other dogs. Halley has the kind of soul that feels familiar, like she's been your friend forever. She leans into pets, enjoys being close to her people, and carries herself with a sweetness that makes everyone who meets her fall a little bit in love. What she wants most isn't anything complicated. Not fancy toys or endless excitement. Just a family to call her own. A soft place to rest her head. A person who will look into those beautiful blue eyes and see the incredible dog waiting behind them. Every day, Halley watches people come and go, hoping that someone will stop long enough to notice more than just her beauty. Because while her eyes may be what first draw you in, it's her heart that will stay with you forever. Halley is ready to trade shelter life for cozy evenings, daily adventures, and a family who will cherish her for the amazing dog she is. She has so much love to give and is patiently waiting for the day she no longer has to wonder where she belongs. Could you be the one to show Halley that home is finally here? -ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 55lbs -ESTIMATED AGE: 7 years -KNOWN WITH DOGS: Meet Chewy 💛 Chewy is a gentle, sweet-natured girl with a heart as soft as her name suggests. She shares a special bond with her best friend, Lola, and the two have clearly been each other’s comfort and joy. Watching Chewy with Lola, you can see just how loving and loyal she is. LOLA AND CHEWY NEED A HOME TOGETHER. They have a BOGO adoption fee!!!!! (Both Pups for $615 total) As she settles into new surroundings, Chewy is beginning to blossom into her own individual self. Chewy’s calm and tender personality makes her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a kind, easygoing dog. While we’re still learning how she feels about other dogs beyond her bond with Lola, her gentle demeanor suggests she’ll do best with thoughtful introductions and a patient home. If you’re looking for a sweet, loving pup who’s ready to grow by your side and fill your home with quiet affection, Chewy might just be your perfect match. -KNOWN WITH CATS: unknown -KNOWN WITH KIDS: unknown -KNOWN CUES: unknown -KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: unknown -KNOWN LIKES: Unknown -KNOWN DISLIKES: Unknown -ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Meet Chewy—one half of a truly special bonded pair with her soul sister, Lola.
