Meet Shawna! 🖤 This girl is pure sunshine wrapped in fur — just look at that smile! Her sweet, expressive eyes and happy-go-lucky grin could melt even the coldest heart. Shawna’s the kind of dog who makes every day brighter just by being in it. She’s a 1-year-old Border Collie/Heeler mix who’s super affectionate, snuggly, and will flash that irresistible grin the moment you rub her belly. Shawna is playful and full of fun, puppy energy. She does great on leash and in the car, making her the perfect little adventure buddy. She’s friendly and loves kids and other dogs, though she’ll need a feline-free home as her instincts may lead her to chase them. Smart as can be, Shawna is already housebroken and eager to please. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to find her forever family — one that loves smiles, snuggles, and spontaneous tail wags as much as she does. 💕 RPACI is a non profit rescue, and currently possess our 501C3 to operate as such. All dogs from this rescue are transported from Alabama to the Pennsylvania/ New England/ Virginia area and delivered in Pennsylvania, Virginia and RI. Each dog will come fully vetted. The remainder of the fee will be paid once you pick up the dog. Naturally the 100.00 comes off the total owed at pick up. It will be refunded if for any reason you decide you do not want to adopt, unless the transport has already left.with the dog. Shae is a sweet young lass. She's a big more tentative around new things than her brother, Simon, but warms up quickly. She likes to sit on your lap.  Shae would like to be your new BFF She needs to learn puppy manners. Shae comes to us from a shelter in rural southwestern Virginia. Shae and her brother, Simon, as well as their father, were seized from their owner for neglect (starvation). An anonymous donor has become Shae's Guardian Angel, in memory of her wonderful Bosnian street dog, Chloe. FLY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Fly and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (11/16) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Falls Church, VA (6100 - A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)!     Name:  Fly          Best Guess for Breed:  Border collie mix   Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years as of August 2025       SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:  39 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.   Fly is Looking For:   His forever family! This dog is a herding breed mix, and those dogs can run quite a bit. Fly might need a lot of  just that - activity. Mere daily walks and/or time in the yard won't be enough. He is looking for more mental stimulation and enrichment. He told us he would love an opportunity to be one of those sporty dogs who does advanced obedience training, agility, or nose work! But he also wants down time and a cushy dog bed and snuggles after a fun day together!This awesome pup will be a great addition to an active home. What do you say? Is Fly the one who can keep up with you?   What My Foster Says About Me: Fly continues doing well with me! He is energetic and fun-loving, but well-behaved. He loves meeting people during our walks; he gets especially excited when he sees women and kids. He likes men too and doesn't show any fear or hesitation, but he absolutely lights up when he sees women (he’s a real ladies man). He has also made quite a few dog friends in my neighborhood! His favorite dogs are about his size,  like to play and have a lot of energy like him.   I take him to the dog park regularly, where he burns off a lot of his energy. He is definitely a border collie who sometimes tries to herd other dogs that aren’t playing, but we’re working on the engage/disengage game and he's responding pretty well! He's generally great with other dogs, if he gets impatient and his herding instincts kick in, it’s just time for a break.  He likes to stay close to me at home, but as he’s settled in he’s slowly giving me a little more space and trusting that I’m still there even if I’m in another room. He continues being very well behaved at home and has not destroyed anything. He only plays with and chews on his toys. He's an amazing dog, very smart, very athletic, and incredibly affectionate. He will be a great addition to any active family looking for an adventure buddy. Roscoe is in his prime as a young adult dog and eager to go, go, go - romps in parks and world exploration! That likely border collie in him (breed mixes are always a guess but he certainly has that BC look!)  means he has a lot of energy and he can't wait to burn it all with his new family.    He's got so much to offer - happy tail wags and the pep to all your days and love and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is Roscoe the one you can see by your side on all your adventures? What My Foster Says About Me: Great pup, very easy going and playful! He's good with other dogs, decent on leash for walks and jogging (still will need some work there), and has not had any accidents in the house (yet). After a little bit of whining, he settles in his crate. He is very athletic, pretty smart, and ready for adventure. And he was good with all the city things. He was curious about wildlife but easy enough to handle and is surely trainable (bonus he is food motivated) including for cool athletic tricks for example.
