She can be a little unsure in the shelter environment, but once outside, her personality shines — she’s friendly, fun and eager to connect. Betty enjoys attention, takes treats gently, knows “sit”, happily takes to her crate, and loves all things love and affection. She walks well on leash and explores new spaces with curiosity, often checking in with her person. She has just enough puppy energy to keep things interesting - and appreciates time to run around, but is equally happy snoring though a midday nap. Betty also loves cheese, a good chew toy, and has so far gotten along splendidly with dogs and cats. With love and patience, Betty will settle in beautifully and make a wonderful companion. Rockstar Ms. Riley Ray didn’t get her name by accident — she earned it with heart, resilience, and a spirit that refuses to fade. This stunning 8-year-old purebred Border Collie has lived a life that didn’t quite match the energy she was born with. Adopted as a puppy by a loving older couple, Riley grew up surrounded by affection but very little structure. Long days indoors, extra bites of fast food and table scraps, and almost no exercise slowly took a toll. Now this girl after just 3 weeks with us she is down 12 pounds and a nice 69 pounds and still on the way down. All she needs is to walk daily for a few miles and then play fetch the ball and stay on a strict diet with no caloric treats. Riley lives for fetch. The moment a ball appears, her eyes light up and her whole body comes alive. It’s as if she’s saying, “This is who I really am.” She is affectionate, loyal, incredibly smart, and still has so much joy and drive left to give. Riley is searching for an active home that understands Border Collies and will help her continue her health journey. She doesn’t want to sit on the sidelines anymore — she wants to run, chase, play, and finally live the life her breed was built for. Her past may have slowed her down, but it never dimmed her spark. Meet Rocko! Rocko is a very handsome happy boy with the most adorable nose freckles and a wiggle butt that goes non-stop from morning to night. He is about 6 years old and 50 pounds. Rocko is crate trained and house trained. He opens the crate with his nose when told “kennel up.” He makes a soft little grunt/whine noise and carries his bone from his crate to the back door to let you know he needs to go out. Rocko absolutely loves people and bonds quickly! He gives lots of kisses and likes to snuggle on the couch while his foster dad watches sports. It’s clear that he was very loved in a previous home. He came to ARMA through a shelter partner when his previous owner fell ill and was no longer able to care for him. He lived in a home with another dog and did very well during his dog tests at the shelter. He’s not had much play time with his foster sisters yet because he was decompressing and is now recovering from his neuter. We will post details on those interactions once we know more! Rocko also loves balls that he can hold in his mouth. His retrieve is solid, and his foster is working on release! Rocko can walk on a leash but could use some training, as he zig zags on walks. He’s a quiet guy in the house. He also rides nicely in the car and is a good boy for grooming. We will add more to Rocko’s bio soon, but in the meantime, don’t hesitate to apply for this very special boy!
