Story
Current Location: Union Bridge, MD Meet Edgar Edgar is a one year old Border Collie and he is everything you would hope for in one of the most brilliant breeds on the planet. Playful, friendly, attentive, and almost unnervingly smart, Edgar is the kind of dog who is always thinking, always watching, and always ready for whatever comes next. He already knows sit, down, and paw, and he picks up new things with the kind of speed that will genuinely impress you. He is food motivated and deeply eager to please, which makes training him an absolute joy. He responds well to correction, takes direction beautifully, and brings his whole self to every interaction. When Edgar decides you are his person, you will feel it. This boy needs to move and think. Long walks, active play, and plenty of mental stimulation are not negotiable for Edgar, they are what he was built for. He would absolutely thrive in dog sports like agility, barn hunt, or obedience rallies. Anything fast, fun, and challenging is going to bring out the very best in him. An active family who loves to get outside and do things will find the most incredible partner in Edgar. But here is the thing about Border Collies that Edgar demonstrates perfectly. After a good run and a solid play session, he is more than happy to settle in and snuggle up with you for a movie night. He works hard and he rests well, and that balance makes him a genuinely wonderful companion for everyday life. He is house trained, crate trained, good with other dogs, great with kids, and friendly with new people. He does not mind being left alone, which speaks to his overall confidence and stability. He is loyal, engaged, and deeply interested in being close to his people whenever he can be. Edgar is not looking for just any home. He is looking for a family that will match his energy, challenge his mind, and reward his tremendous heart. If that sounds like you, Edgar is going to be the best decision you ever made.

Need to rehome her as my aunt's has family medical issues. I've been fostering her but I'm allergic. Lilli is a 1 year old cutie. She's super smart, eager to please and once she warms up she's a spunky little character. She knows sit, lay down, come, off and paw. Still working on other commands. She is loyal, engaged, and deeply interested in being close to her people whenever she can be. Lilli would do great in an active home. She'd love to join you on all of your outdoor adventures! Be it hiking or in the backyard. She would absolutely thrive in dog sports like agility, barn hunt, or obedience rallies. Anything fast, fun, and challenging is going to bring out the very best in her. After a good run and a solid play session, she'd happily snuggle for the rest of the night.

There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.   Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. BALT NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Balt and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (March 1st) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!          Name:  Balt          Best Guess for Breed:   Border collie and lab mix     Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of February 2026        SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight:  39 lbs as of 1/14/26; might have just a bit more to grow   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations:   Balt is shy and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident fog who will show him the ropes.    Balt is Looking For:   Balt wants nothing more to trot through life with all the confidence of a well-loved family pet! He hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and is eager for sniffy walks, romps, and all the adventures his new humans can dream up. To get there, he needs extra patient and loving humans who understand he is a little shy and needs to experience new environments at his pace. A welcoming resident dog will help show him to dog too!   Most of all, he wants to be safe and loved. In exchange he promises so much love and loyalty. What do you say? Is Balt the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:  Balt is a very sweet boy who is learning all about the fun things that the world offers outside of the shelter. He absolutely loves toys, sleeping on the couch or the dog bed, and playing with friends. He doesn't pull on the leash but will zigzag in front of you because he just wants to sniff all the smells. He gets along great with my moody dog at home, taking her corrections perfectly when she doesn't want to play. Balt has done great with house breaking and crate training. He can be shy at first with people, but after a few minutes, he will come up to you and give you a kisses and a tail wag. So far, he has been a wonderful work from home buddy and is fast asleep on the dog bed next to my computer desk. I know this guy is eager to find his forever family and show them just how much love he has to give.      Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Current Location: Korea 🇰🇷 ♡ 🧡 Meet Ma-eum A gentle soul learning to love again Ma-eum spent his early years tied outside on a farm, living in fear. He was abused by a male owner and frightened by children who threw balls at him. Because of that, he is still afraid of men, loud playground sounds, and the sight of bouncing toys. But despite all this, Ma-eum has the gentlest heart. For the past two years, he has been living in a patient and loving foster home. He has made slow, steady progress — on his terms — and is now ready for the next chapter of his life. 🧬 Personality Ma-eum is a quiet, thoughtful boy with a soft energy. He feels safest around gentle women with warm voices, and he truly thrives in calm, peaceful homes. He may keep his distance from men indoors, but sometimes shows more courage when outdoors. He isn’t the kind of dog who will run into your arms — but with time and patience, he’ll follow you anywhere. He enjoys peaceful walks, nosework games, gentle pets, and long naps by your side. He doesn't bark much, and he waits quietly when left alone after a short adjustment. 🏡 At Home ✅ House-trained (prefers peeing on vertical surfaces — his foster can provide wall-to-floor pads) ✅ Good with calm dogs (interested and social but may growl at overly excited dogs) ✅ Neutral to cats (no strong prey drive) ✅ Tolerates children (nervous around fast movements but never aggressive) ✅ Excellent in the car ✅ Loves brushing and gentle touch 🚫 Afraid of balls and squeaky toys — he prefers games with treats instead 💛 Ma-eum is looking for… A family who will let him set the pace. Someone who doesn’t expect instant cuddles but understands how meaningful it is when a shy dog chooses to stay close. Ideally, a female adopter or a quiet household with gentle energy. 📦 Foster home can provide pee pad setup 📍 Adoption includes interview & home check 📩 If Ma-eum’s story touched your heart, we’d love to tell you more. He’s been waiting a long time for someone who sees past the fear — and into his true, beautiful heart

Story
Meet Hamish Hamish is a 4-month-old black tri Australian Shepherd with charm for days and a personality as big as his puppy paws. He truly believes the world is his stage—and that everyone he meets was put here to adore him. Spoiler alert: they usually do. This happy, social boy loves to play and would thrive in an active home, ideally with a dog sibling who can keep up with his enthusiasm. Chasing a ball is one of his favorite things, and he could happily do that all day. After long walks and playtime, he’s perfectly content curling up for naps. Hamish is cat-friendly. He knows better than to chase them, though he occasionally gets a little carried away with sniffing and earns a gentle reminder from his feline friends. Hamish is very intelligent (named after Constable Hamish Macbeth from the beloved Scottish series). He already knows sit, lay down, and shake. Like most puppies, his follow-through still needs polishing, but he is eager to learn, highly food-motivated, and doing an amazing job so far. As a puppy, he will need continued training, structure, and socialization to help him grow into the incredible dog he’s meant to be. Because he is young and people-oriented, Hamish cannot be left alone for long hours. He is looking for an engaged, committed human who has the time and energy to invest in a bright, affectionate puppy—and who’s ready for a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure. Hamish’s good qualities are endless, and wherever he lands, he is sure to bring immeasurable joy to his forever family. To apply to adopt Hamish, please apply through Aussie Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic (ARMA) at https://www.aussierescuemidatlantic.org

Maple & Mixy! A perfectly balanced bonded pair looking for their forever home. Meet Maple Your calm, cuddly best friend wrapped in a fluffy red coat Maple is a gorgeous red bi female, weighing about 60 lbs, with an adorable nub tail, striking bi-colored eyes, and a soft, thick coat that practically begs to be pet. She has a gentle, loving soul and a calm presence that instantly makes you feel at home. Once Maple meets you, her sweet personality truly shines. Maple is the more mellow half of her bonded pair. While she enjoys running around and playing with her sister, she has a lower energy level and prefers meaningful time with her people over nonstop activity. She’s an affectionate certified cuddle bug who loves to sit next to you… or right on you if space allows. Personal space? Optional. She’s a dream companion — smart, food-motivated, and eager to please. Maple already knows sit, down, stay, and shake, listens well, and walks nicely on a leash. Toys aren’t really her thing, but she’ll happily chase a tennis ball if it means spending time with you. Maple is excellent with other dogs, confident when meeting new pups, and enjoys playing appropriately. She’s calm, social, and incredibly loving — the kind of dog that seamlessly fits into just about any home. Her cuddly nature, gentle demeanor, and steady confidence make her an absolute joy to have around. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, a couch companion, and a heart-melting presence by your side, Maple is truly something special.

Story
❤️Cora is looking for a place to call home❤️ Cora is a spunky and lovable mini red-bi Australian Shepherd, estimated to be between 2-3 years old and weighing about 35lbs. She is being fostered in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Cora had a rough start before arriving at the shelter as a stray, but since coming into the rescue, she has truly blossomed. After being welcomed into ARMA, she quickly discovered the joys of indoor life, cozy blankets, a comfy bed, and the warmth of the fireplace. But what she treasures most of all is love. Cora is a velcro dog through and through and thrives on affection and cuddles, which help her continue to build trust and confidence. When Cora first arrived, she was battling an untreated ear infection, internal parasites, and heartworms. Despite everything, her spirit has never wavered. She is currently receiving treatment and can complete it in her new home. Cora loves to play! She’ll happily thrash her toys around while sprinting full speed through the house, and she enjoys bones, puzzles, lick mats, and long walks (though she could use some work on her leash skills). While she’s a medium-to-high energy girl, she also has a great “off” switch and will gladly curl up beside you on the sofa for a nap after a good play session. She is both crate and potty trained. Cora absolutely adores her people and is a fan favorite with most adults she meets. However, she would do best in a home without young children or other pets. Her foster is working with her on basic commands, resource guarding, and some reactivity, which she is making steady progress on. Cora will need an experienced, committed adopter who understands the importance of continued structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement training. With patience, guidance, and a dedicated family, Cora will have so much love to give. In the right home, she will blossom into an incredibly loyal, devoted, and deeply bonded companion.
