Shae is a sweet young lass. She's a big more tentative around new things than her brother, Simon, but warms up quickly. She likes to sit on your lap, in fact, she'd like nothing better than to cuddle on your lap while watching TV.  Shae would like to be your new BFF. As she did not learn about sharing in school, she would do best as an only dog in the household.  Shae comes to us from a shelter in rural southwestern Virginia. Shae and her brother, Simon, as well as their father, were seized from their owner for neglect (starvation). An anonymous donor has become Shae's Guardian Angel, in memory of her wonderful Bosnian street dog, Chloe. Gender:  Female DOB: Approx. 12/1/2023 Current size; 30 pounds PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Meet Oliver! 🖤🐾 Oliver is a gorgeous 5-year-old black tri weighing approximately 47 pounds and located in Dumfries, VA. This handsome boy is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and has well-managed allergies that are easily controlled with a special diet and routine Cytopoint injections. Oliver is everything people love about Aussies—smart, loyal, and eager to learn. Like many Australian Shepherds, he thrives when given a job to do and loves showing off his tricks (including dancing on his back legs!). He's food motivated, enjoys training, picks up new skills quickly, and has excellent impulse control when working with his person. Oliver truly wants to make the right choice and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement, making him an incredibly rewarding companion for someone who enjoys building a partnership with their dog. Oliver is also a sensitive soul who thrives in a calm, predictable environment. Overly rambunctious dogs, fast-moving young children, or unexpected approaches can make him feel overwhelmed. Rather than escalating situations, Oliver has shown that he naturally chooses to disengage, settles quickly with gentle guidance, and looks to his handler for reassurance. His ability to redirect himself and recover from exciting situations speaks volumes about his temperament. With a patient family committed to continuing his confidence-building, Oliver will only continue to flourish. Oliver enjoys running in a fenced yard and chasing tennis balls and sticks (retrieving them is optional in his opinion!). He's potty trained, has wonderful house manners, and enjoys relaxing near his family at the end of the day. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. This sweet boy is doing wonderfully in foster care. He is potty trained, eats well, and walks beautifully on leash. Rand is the kind of dog who stays right by your side and never pulls, making neighborhood walks calm and enjoyable. Rand can be a little cautious with new people and sudden noises. He appreciates slow, gentle introductions and is learning to trust more each day. He has even started gently taking treats by hand, which is a lovely sign of his growing confidence. Rand’s personality really shines around other dogs. He is gentle, happy, and relaxed in their company, and his tail wag and smile come out more and more. Morning seems to be his favorite time of day, when he is especially eager to greet his foster parents and start the day! Rand follows his person from room to room and is clearly looking for someone he can quietly bond with. He would do best with a calm, patient owner who will let him move at his own pace and continue building on the progress he has already made. Frankie is a 1-year-old handsome young man who weighs 48 lbs and is located in Mount Airy, MD. Frankie loves to play and loves to lounge, making him a great middle-energy guy. He enjoys being outside playing fetch, squeaky balls and other toys. If he could spend his days on the couch after an outing his life would be heaven! He also enjoys playing with other dogs, although very high energy/physical dogs are a bit much for him. Frankie is an intelligent boy who does the typical Aussie thing of staring or barking to get your attention when he wants to play or go outside. His blue eyes will definitely keep your attention! He is a good listener and is crate trained. He knows sit, down, and walks with a loose leash. While Frankie is a smart boy, he still has plenty of puppy in him and can be a tad mouthy. Due to being mouthy, Frankie will need an adult only home who is willing to continue his training as he grows into adulthood. Frankie likes having his own space and has gotten a little less cuddly as he is growing. He will get up on the bed and sleep there at night, although he will eventually move to the floor. He does like having his own space and would do best with a family who understands and respects that. Frankie is comfortable being home alone for a couple of hours and is crated when his people leave. His crate is his safe spot. He has shown no signs of resource guarding with food or toys with his adult owners. Frankie loves meeting new people! He is a little cautious and may be wary of people wearing hats. He can also get a little skittish with loud noises such as trucks and may hide. Traffic noises are scary for him. Because Frankie does not like loud noises, he will need quiet and patient adults that can help him be safe as he acclimates to the sounds of his new home. Frankie is a fun, smart, active young Aussie who is looking for a child-free home that will give him the structure, continued training, space, and love he needs to become the best adult dog he can be. He enjoys canine friends, has a great mix of play and lounge time, and is ready to find his next family!
