Story
Current Location: Union Bridge, MD Meet Edgar Edgar is a one year old Border Collie and he is everything you would hope for in one of the most brilliant breeds on the planet. Playful, friendly, attentive, and almost unnervingly smart, Edgar is the kind of dog who is always thinking, always watching, and always ready for whatever comes next. He already knows sit, down, and paw, and he picks up new things with the kind of speed that will genuinely impress you. He is food motivated and deeply eager to please, which makes training him an absolute joy. He responds well to correction, takes direction beautifully, and brings his whole self to every interaction. When Edgar decides you are his person, you will feel it. This boy needs to move and think. Long walks, active play, and plenty of mental stimulation are not negotiable for Edgar, they are what he was built for. He would absolutely thrive in dog sports like agility, barn hunt, or obedience rallies. Anything fast, fun, and challenging is going to bring out the very best in him. An active family who loves to get outside and do things will find the most incredible partner in Edgar. But here is the thing about Border Collies that Edgar demonstrates perfectly. After a good run and a solid play session, he is more than happy to settle in and snuggle up with you for a movie night. He works hard and he rests well, and that balance makes him a genuinely wonderful companion for everyday life. He is house trained, crate trained, good with other dogs, great with kids, and friendly with new people. He does not mind being left alone, which speaks to his overall confidence and stability. He is loyal, engaged, and deeply interested in being close to his people whenever he can be. Edgar is not looking for just any home. He is looking for a family that will match his energy, challenge his mind, and reward his tremendous heart. If that sounds like you, Edgar is going to be the best decision you ever made.

Meet Valentine, the sweet little heartthrob who’s equal parts wiggle, wonder, and love. Valentine greets his people with happy face boops, gentle hugs, and the kind of affectionate lean that says,“You’re my favorite human already.” If kisses were currency, this handsome boy would be a millionaire. Valentine loves getting out and about, taking in the world one curious step at a time. He enjoys meeting new doggy neighbors with friendly tail wags and playful twirls, and he’s happiest when he has a person nearby to share the moment with. Need to rehome her as my aunt's has family medical issues. I've been fostering her but I'm allergic. Lilli is a 1 year old cutie. She's super smart, eager to please and once she warms up she's a spunky little character. She knows sit, lay down, come, off and paw. Still working on other commands. She is loyal, engaged, and deeply interested in being close to her people whenever she can be. Lilli would do great in an active home. She'd love to join you on all of your outdoor adventures! Be it hiking or in the backyard. She would absolutely thrive in dog sports like agility, barn hunt, or obedience rallies. Anything fast, fun, and challenging is going to bring out the very best in her. After a good run and a solid play session, she'd happily snuggle for the rest of the night.

Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young boy ISO happily ever after! BALT NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Balt and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (March 1st) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!          Name:  Balt          Best Guess for Breed:   Border collie and lab mix     Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of February 2026        SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight:  39 lbs as of 1/14/26; might have just a bit more to grow   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations:   Balt is shy and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident fog who will show him the ropes.    Balt is Looking For:   Balt wants nothing more to trot through life with all the confidence of a well-loved family pet! He hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and is eager for sniffy walks, romps, and all the adventures his new humans can dream up. To get there, he needs extra patient and loving humans who understand he is a little shy and needs to experience new environments at his pace. A welcoming resident dog will help show him to dog too!   Most of all, he wants to be safe and loved. In exchange he promises so much love and loyalty. What do you say? Is Balt the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:  Balt is a very sweet boy who is learning all about the fun things that the world offers outside of the shelter. He absolutely loves toys, sleeping on the couch or the dog bed, and playing with friends. He doesn't pull on the leash but will zigzag in front of you because he just wants to sniff all the smells. He gets along great with my moody dog at home, taking her corrections perfectly when she doesn't want to play. Balt has done great with house breaking and crate training. He can be shy at first with people, but after a few minutes, he will come up to you and give you a kisses and a tail wag. So far, he has been a wonderful work from home buddy and is fast asleep on the dog bed next to my computer desk. I know this guy is eager to find his forever family and show them just how much love he has to give.      Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Current Location: Korea 🇰🇷 ♡ 🧡 Meet Ma-eum A gentle soul learning to love again Ma-eum spent his early years tied outside on a farm, living in fear. He was abused by a male owner and frightened by children who threw balls at him. Because of that, he is still afraid of men, loud playground sounds, and the sight of bouncing toys. But despite all this, Ma-eum has the gentlest heart. For the past two years, he has been living in a patient and loving foster home. He has made slow, steady progress — on his terms — and is now ready for the next chapter of his life. 🧬 Personality Ma-eum is a quiet, thoughtful boy with a soft energy. He feels safest around gentle women with warm voices, and he truly thrives in calm, peaceful homes. He may keep his distance from men indoors, but sometimes shows more courage when outdoors. He isn’t the kind of dog who will run into your arms — but with time and patience, he’ll follow you anywhere. He enjoys peaceful walks, nosework games, gentle pets, and long naps by your side. He doesn't bark much, and he waits quietly when left alone after a short adjustment. 🏡 At Home ✅ House-trained (prefers peeing on vertical surfaces — his foster can provide wall-to-floor pads) ✅ Good with calm dogs (interested and social but may growl at overly excited dogs) ✅ Neutral to cats (no strong prey drive) ✅ Tolerates children (nervous around fast movements but never aggressive) ✅ Excellent in the car ✅ Loves brushing and gentle touch 🚫 Afraid of balls and squeaky toys — he prefers games with treats instead 💛 Ma-eum is looking for… A family who will let him set the pace. Someone who doesn’t expect instant cuddles but understands how meaningful it is when a shy dog chooses to stay close. Ideally, a female adopter or a quiet household with gentle energy. 📦 Foster home can provide pee pad setup 📍 Adoption includes interview & home check 📩 If Ma-eum’s story touched your heart, we’d love to tell you more. He’s been waiting a long time for someone who sees past the fear — and into his true, beautiful heart

🐾🖤 Meet Collie 🖤🐾 A quiet mama who deserves her own forever home 💫 ────────────────── 💕💕A special dog 💕💕 🏷 Profile 🐶 Name: Collie ⚖️ Weight: 13 kg (28.6 lbs) 🎂 Age: Approx. 3 years 🚺 Gender: Female (Spayed) 🐕 Breed: Border Collie + Laika mix 🎨 Color: Black & White ────────────────── 💔 Her Story Collie was rescued from a large illegal breeding facility while pregnant 🤍 She had spent her life confined in a small cage and was separated from her puppies shortly after giving birth. Because of long-term confinement and frequent relocations, she began showing stress-related repetitive behaviors. Since moving into a stable foster home, she has improved so much 🌿 She feels safest resting in small, cozy spaces and has learned what it means to live in a home. Collie doesn’t demand attention or constant affection. She is quiet, gentle, and low-maintenance 🕊️ We are looking for a family who can love her just as she is. ────────────────── 🐶 Personality & Social Skills ✔️ Good with other dogs 🐕 ⚠️ Chases cats 🐱 ⚡ Medium energy 🤲 Can be handled 🔕 Rarely barks (and even then, softly) 🚪 Escape caution needed — secure home required ────────────────── 🏡 Training & Lifestyle 🚽 Outdoor potty trained (can use pads if urgent) 🏠 Comfortable in a crate 🦮 Walks nicely on leash 🎗 No leash reactivity to people or dogs 🚗 Rides well in the car 🧸 No destructive behavior 🍽 No appetite issues ────────────────── 🏠 Home Environment 🏢 Apartment living: Possible 🌿 Yard: Would be nice, not required 🐾 Only dog or multi-dog home: Both okay She may not show big, dramatic affection, but she loves treats 🍪 and even comes to greet her foster in the mornings ☀️ Her puppies have already found their families. Now it’s Mama Collie’s turn 💛 All she needs is a warm corner of a home and someone willing to give her quiet understanding 🏡✨ Please give Collie the chance she has never had 🖤

Maple & Mixy! A perfectly balanced bonded pair looking for their forever home. Meet Maple Your calm, cuddly best friend wrapped in a fluffy red coat Maple is a gorgeous 2-and-a-half-year-old red bi female, weighing about 60 lbs, with an adorable nub tail, striking bi-colored eyes, and a soft, thick coat that practically begs to be pet. She has a gentle, loving soul and a calm presence that instantly makes you feel at home. Once Maple meets you, her sweet personality truly shines. Maple is the more mellow half of her bonded pair. While she enjoys running around and playing with her sister, she has a lower energy level and prefers meaningful time with her people over nonstop activity. She’s an affectionate certified cuddle bug who loves to sit next to you… or right on you if space allows. Personal space? Optional. She’s a dream companion — smart, food-motivated, and eager to please. Maple already knows sit, down, stay, and shake, listens well, and walks nicely on a leash. Toys aren’t really her thing, but she’ll happily chase a tennis ball if it means spending time with you. She is also crate trained. Maple is excellent with other dogs, confident when meeting new pups, and enjoys playing appropriately. She’s calm, social, and incredibly loving — the kind of dog that seamlessly fits into just about any home. Her cuddly nature, gentle demeanor, and steady confidence make her an absolute joy to have around. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, a couch companion, and a heart-melting presence by your side, Maple is truly something special.

Story
Stevie is a 3-year-old mixed breed (Australian Cattle Dog, Boxer, Chow, Beagle, Collie, Shar Pei) whom I adopted from a shelter at 10 months old. She's become a local celebrity here where I live! She really stands out for her unique personality and appearance. She has manageable seizures, controlled by medication. Her insurance is transferable and covers 90% of costs for only $60 @ month premium! The seizures have been short, less than 60 seconds, and have been averaging about one every 2 or 3 months, but has gone 6 months without one. She's on a newer medication and it appears to be working better. Originally cared for with my daughter and son, changes in their availability and my increased work obligations have made it challenging for me to continue caring for her. She's VERY confident, trained, and never strays from your side. She loves car rides, camping, hiking, city crowds, restaurants, breweries, shopping, and always draws attention when we're out. She' playful with other dogs

Story
Meet Sadie: 50 lbs. of goofy charm and wagging nub Age: 2.5 years old. Spayed Breed: Australian Shepherd: Tri-colored beauty Sadie is 2.5-years-old and was raised in a loving home but, sadly, is no longer getting the attention or exercise she deserves. Her previous family realized it wasn’t fair to keep her cooped up with little interaction, so Sadie is now ready to find her forever home where she can shine! She lives outside and comes into the garage at night, so we are not sure if she is potty trained. An adventurous spirit – loves to run and explore! A secure, fenced yard (at least 4 feet) is a must, or she’ll show off her climbing skills. Sadie is all about the love! If you’re a stranger, don’t worry, her little nub will wiggle as she happily jumps up to give you kisses. She's affectionate, playful, and enjoys being touched all over. She's a good leash walker, loves people, and gets along with other dogs (sorry, no cats!). She hasn't been around young kids, but she’s a total sweetheart with adults. Sadie will need training since she is a jumper and needs to work on redirection and recall. Likes: Belly rubs, digging in the yard, chewing on toys, chasing balls (fetch is optional), and sitting for treats. Energy level: Medium – enough for fun, but not a wild child. What’s Next? If you’re ready to open your heart (and maybe your fence) to Sadie, let us know! You would be giving a fun-loving pup a second chance at the happy life she deserves.
