Name: Ryder Best Guess for Breed: Heeler/Retriever mix Best Guess for Age: 10bmonths as of July 2026 SEX: male Estimated Weight: 49.4 lbs as of 7/12/26 - he is still growing. Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but are happy to discuss integration techniques with any interested adopters. Because Ryder is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show him the ropes. Currently Living at: DC area foster home Ryder is Looking For: A forever home! This cutie is so happy to be safe and is now ready for a family…look he’s so excited to meet you he can’t even sit still for her photos! Because of his young age, he will need plenty of exercise, mental enrichment, and socialization with other dogs. He’d also love some treats and toys and a cozy spot to rest when he gets tired. In return, he promises to be a loving companion for years to come. Do you think Ryder is the one for you? What My Foster Says About Me: He’s been doing really well in his foster home and has been getting along great with the resident dog, showing that he can be a good companion for another pup. He’s very treat motivated, which makes training easier, and he’s already doing great with potty training.He can be a little timid at first and may need a bit of time to warm up, but once he feels comfortable, his personality really starts to shine. He absolutely loves rubs, cuddles, and will take any chance he can get to give kisses. Overall, he’s a very sweet, well-mannered puppy who just needs a little patience and love to thrive. Ryder is a sweet pup who is still learning to socialize and build confidence around new people. He can be shy at first and needs a little time to warm up, but once he does, he’s very loving and affectionate. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.
