Story
MEET FELIX!Are you looking for a boxer? How about a boxer that is a lover not a fighter! His love for toys and playtime is real and the people that come along with that are in for a treat with this handsome boy! His name is Felix, he`s a 2 year old looking to fill your home with love and laughter. Felix enjoys time practicing all his basic cues and has mastered the art of sit and laydown especially with his back legs sticking out like a frog. He stares into your eyes longingly waiting for the next adventure. Felix loves going on long (or short) sniffari walks and can entertain himself for hours tossing around his favorite toys. Be ready for the noise of a squeaker as he loves to hear the sound and thinks everyone else does too. Felix has been quite stressed in the shelter so if you come to meet him and he acts like he`s ignoring you please don`t be offended - he needs some time to decompress and will become your best sidekick looking with those big brown eyes! Come by our Boston location - we promise he won`t dissappoint! Oh, one more thing - no cats please!Felix is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Felix or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

Story
Adopted from SPCA in 2022 as a newborn puppy. Ben is sweet, smart and playful couch potato. DNA test showed primarily Chihuahua, but boy was that wrong! He grew from 5 lbs to 55lbs quickly! He was a wonderful puppy with a little anxiety. He learned quickly to play with other dogs and enjoyed time with our kids, but remained skeptical of others. Ben had an incident in 2024 when my son and his friends were playing and running through the yard and Ben “protected” my son by biting a neighbor. We entered training and he did wonderfully to take direction, learn new skills and calm down. Last month we moved from the suburbs to the city and Ben’s anxiety in the new location is showing up regularly. He is protective of us and reactive to others until he can greet under control With two young kids, we have too much going on to allow him to get the attention he needs to calm down in this urban environment. Would love to find him a home in a calmer environment so that Ben can thrive again.

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: Yes, with proper introsGood with cats: Yes, dog savvy catsGood with kids: Older children only (13+)Crate trained: YesHouse trained: YesZaria is an affectionate, and loyal girl with a real zest for life. She is a medium energy dog who enjoys a play session, followed by a nap. She benefits from slow introductions to other dogs. She would also be fine as an only dog. Zaria happily entertains herself with toys or a romp in the backyard. She has lived with cats and has for the most part ignored their presence. Zaria loves her people and enjoys making new human friends. She can be an enthusiastic greeter and sometimes forgets her size, so older dog-savvy children would be best for her. Zaria enjoys going for walks around the neighborhood and looks to her humans for reassurance and guidance in new situations. Zaria is an intelligent girl and very eager to please. She knows a plethora of commands, and loves to learn new things every day. She is fully house trained and crate trained. Zaria enjoys relaxing in her crate throughout the day and sleeps soundly in it overnight. She is looking for an experienced and patient adopter who will continue to provide her with structure and routine so she can continue to be her best self. Are you the lucky family who gets to add Zaria to your bunch? Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at www.lasthopek9.org.May 15, 2025, 1:42 am

*MEET ME AT OUR 7/19 EVENT IN WAKEFIELD, MA!*Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Yes, dog savvy catsGood with kids: Yes, dog savvy childrenCrate trained: Mostly House Trained: Working on it Byakuya is a sweet, lovable, dopey dude who would love to join an active family on their adventures. He has a medium energy level typical of a puppy, enjoying playtime and chill time.Byakuya loves to play with other dogs, but might need time to learn that not all dogs are down for wrestling immediately since he is eager to make friends. He has met a cat while on leash and backed away when it hissed at him, so he would likely adapt to a feline sibling. Byakuya has done well with kids after initial puppy excitement, so would do best with dog savvy children while he continues to work on his manners. He is a smart boy and was the first of his siblings to learn to sit on command. He is doing well with leash training, but needs a bit more practice to perfect it. Byakuya is mostly crate trained and has no problem going in the crate with food or a treat. He is working on house training and starting to alert at the door when he needs to go out. Byakuya would make a great adventure buddy given his curious and social nature! He will bring a lot of love and many laughs to his new family; is yours the one he's been waiting for? Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. He's your typical puppy with a big heart waiting to shower you with kisses. Ichi has a medium energy level; always ready for playtime, but happy to chill with his humans too.He is good with other dogs and he loves wrestling with his siblings. Ichi has met a cat and backed away when it hissed at him, so he would most likely adapt to a home with a cat. He is good with kids, but is still working on his manners, so dog savvy children would be best.Ichi is very food motivated and would love to learn some tricks with his new family. He goes into his crate happily with a treat but does still have the odd accident if crated for long periods. He is nearly there with house training and has started going to the door when he needs to go out. He is doing well on the leash and with more practice, will be a pro in no time.Ichigo will make a great adventure buddy; he enjoys car rides and walks. Story
ZUKI **IMMEDIATE FOSTER NEEDED**** Age: 6.5 years old Breed: Mixed - maybe boxer and hound? Weight: 56.2 lbs Good with: Some dogs, humans 13+ Zuki, short for “Zucchini,” was originally found in TN, not far from two other puppies who looked like her that had been shot. We never knew if she was related to those two other pups thar never made it into rescue. ? This sweet girl is a beautiful companion dog who is being returned to our rescue after six years, through no fault of her own and now needs immediate placement in a new adoptive home or foster family. She has been in a loving family home for the last 6 years, however we've determined a home with small children is not the ideal setting to meet her needs. Zuki often waits until everyone goes to bed to settle into her bed. She enjoys curling up on a rug to have a nice nap after playing outside or just hanging out with her people. She will lay down where you're working to keep you company. She loves going on walks or hikes on trails and smiles the most when she's outdoors getting exercise. Zuki does well on car rides (no issues with car sickness) and has been great on family trips to New Hampshire. She is happy to play with other dogs, however she does best when she can meet them in an outdoor setting off leash to get to know them. She can be nervous around smaller dogs. Zuki is smart and knows basic commands like sit, wait, come, or"up up" to jump onto the end of the bed or to jump into the back of a car. She is food motivated, so definitely appreciates treats as rewards. Zuki loves to play games like "find it", where you hide treats around the house or in the yard and she can sniff them out. Zuki gets nervous having her nails trimmed, does best when done by a professional (and with a Dremel). As a puppy, Zuki was skittish and barked when she got nervous, however while she still barks at large trucks (like trash trucks because of their high pitched brakes), she has become calmer with age and is an ideal companion for an adult household. She loves long walks and getting exercise which calms her down when she is nervous. Zuki’s ideal home would be a single person or couple who enjoys hiking and the outdoors and can provide regular exercises and enrichment. She can be in a home with another dog of a similar size for company and should meet that dog to ensure a good fit first. If interested in fostering or adopting, please complete an application on our website www.survivortails.org and email us at adoptions@survivortails.org. We are a licensed 501c rescue organization. Zuki is adoptable to MA and NH only. Personality traits Athletic, Affectionate, Smart, Friendly
