Story
Hi my name is Harley.  I am a very sweet girl.  It takes me a little while to trust you but I am loving little thing from the very start,  I am a dainty girl and I don't like to be treated rough at all.  I stay our of the fray when the boys are playing.  I am usually on the sidelines watching or playing with Dart.  While we have totally different personalities.  I am the dainty one and Dart is the rambunctious one.  We would absolutely love to be adopted together.  I am always looking for him and he looks out for m.  I am great with all the 4 legged creatures here and I love my foster mom!  She took such good care of me when I was abandoned as a tiny baby.   To be considered for my forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Dart is actually in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)May 28, 2024, 12:37 pm

Story
Sweet Iris came from a farm where there were just way too many unaltered cats and the situation had gotten out of control. We have been taking them in one by one. Iris was the first to come in and now she is ready for her forever home. She is very sweet and lovable and great with kids! She's still a baby, just 6 months young. She is spayed, FIV/FeLV negative, vaccinated, litter box trained and ready for her forever home. Could that be you? OUR CATS AND KITTENS MUST NEVER BE DECLAWED OR ALLOWED OUTDOORS! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $350

Story
Ginger is an adorable female calico. She’s a very sweet, affectionate cat, although shy at first! She’s very cuddly, playful, and loves people. Ginger would thrive in a home where people can give her constant attention and affection. I have made the difficult decision to rehome her because she unfortunately does not get along with our dog who is a timid rescue. Ginger acts like a kitten despite being an older cat. She does have a thyroid condition that requires her to have medication in her food twice a day. She has a wonderful personality and I know she would be a great addition to any household. She gets along well with other cats, but I am unsure about whether she gets along with other dogs. Her interactions with my dog could be an exception.

Story
Gabby's Personality Gabby is a beautiful tabby/calico girl with a blend of stripes and patches of color. She is an exceptionally friendly and outgoing kitty who settles into a new home easily and greets you at the door when you return home. She is curious and a little mischievous...if you can't find her, check your closets to see if she has sneaked inside, seemingly waiting for you to come and find her! Gabby loves, loves, loves hanging out with people. If you are working from home, she is usually playing or napping nearby. If you are sitting on the couch, Gabby likes to sit in your lap or next to you. At night, she often sleeps by your side...or sometimes decides to find a cozy spot elsewhere until you wake up in the morning. Then Gabby is there to greet you. This girl is also becoming more and more playful every day. She likes batting around plastic tops to containers and fluffy balls, and goes wild when you play with her with a feather on a stick or laser pointer. Daily play activity is important - so bring out the feather toy or laser pointer at least once a day for some good, vigorous playtime. Gabby can also be a little sassy under some circumstances. While she likes to be petted, she can get a little overstimulated and nip if you pet her too much. She may also nip if she wants to get your attention so its important to make sure Gabby has plenty playtime with people, a variety of toys to play with, and a kitty condo or perch in front of a window so she can watch activities outdoors. Type of Home Gabby Needs Gabby needs a home with experienced cat caretakers who understand both her sweet and sassy sides. While she is not overly demanding, Gabby needs plenty of playtime and activity around her to keep her engaged. A single-person home will not give her enough stimulation that she needs. An adult couple would be ideal, but a home with an older cat-savvy child would be fine (over about 10 yrs of age). No young children now or in the future. We think she would also do best with a female kitty companion - one that shares her need for stimulation and play-time.  If you don't already have a compatible kitty at home, consider pairing Gabby up with Lucy - a wonderful "teenager" in our care. Where Gabby Came From Gabby came into SPCA NOVA's care from a local shelter where she had been brought in as a stray kitty with a litter of kittens. All kittens had been adopted by the time she was transferred to SPCA's care.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Lucy's Personality Lucy is a charming calico kitten with a great personality. She is easy-going, quick to purr, and incredibly sweet and social. Lucy always wants to be with people. If her foster parents are sitting, she is either playing nearby, or adjusting herself to find the most comfortable position to curl up near or on them. If they are propped up in bed reading, her favorite thing is when they bend their knees under the covers, creating a “tent” she can crawl into. If they are sleeping, she is inevitably right there on top of the bed too. If she is not sure where the people are, she calls out and comes running when she hears her name. Lucy is playful without being aggressive. Her favorite games are running and chasing. She loves to follow a laser pointer, chase a ball around the house, and go dashing through a crinkly cat tunnel. She also likes to play with pens and pencils and hides them under the edges of rugs. She’s definitely still a kitten, and needs to be reminded not to jump on counters or scratch the rug. But she’s also good at using a scratching pad, and often the reason for getting on the counter is to knock down a pen - so hiding the pens or pencils where she can find them deters her from jumping on counters. Lucy is very curious and never met a small space or open door she didn’t want to enter. She enjoys hiding in bags, boxes and cubby holes, but given her social nature, she never hides for too long. She has been known to jump into the shower after the water has been turned off, crawl behind the trash bins when the drawer is pulled out and climb into the pantry when someone is getting a snack. So it is always important to know where Lucy is before you close a door! Type of Home Lucy Needs Lucy needs an active home with more than one person AND a young female cat to bond and play with. She is an inquisitive girl who thrives on activity. She hasn't been exposed to children or dogs but would likely do fine with both. If you don't already have a young female cat at home, consider adopting Lucy along with another young cat in our care named Gabby. They haven't met but we think they would make a great pair. Where Lucy Came From Lucy came into our care after a kind person rescued her and her siblings from a hoarding situation when she was a younger kitten. Lucy was friendly and social from the start so although her beginnings were not ideal, she was clearly socialized from an early age.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Thimble and Thread were rescued from a Tailor Shop in DC where they were born to a stray momma cat and raised by the shop owner. When they came to us, they were very shy but sweet. They have settled in well with their foster family, learning to come to their foster mom for snuggles on the couch and playing with toys. They are very interested in their older foster sister kitties and we think they would enjoy having other cats in the home to continue building their confidence. They are only available as a bonded pair and we will not separate them. To be considered as a potential adopter, complete an adoption application. Completing the application does not guarantee it will be approved. We are an all volunteer group and unfortunately are unable to answer every phone call, adoption inquiry, or application. Please understand you will be contacted only if your application is approved.

Story
I am a fun, loving and cuddly orange tabby named Leo. I am an indoor cat, approximately 10 lbs and 3 years old. I get along well with kids who know how to be gentle with me. My current owner is looking for a warm, friendly and loving home for me. Her other cat is constantly competing with me, which can sometimes become too much. I am a foodie that loves to gaze out of the window, take naps, get rubs and get positive attention. If you are a cat lover then I can’t wait to meet you!
