Story
Hi my name is Harley.  I am a very sweet girl.  It takes me a little while to trust you but I am loving little thing from the very start,  I am a dainty girl and I don't like to be treated rough at all.  I stay our of the fray when the boys are playing.  I am usually on the sidelines watching or playing with Dart.  While we have totally different personalities.  I am the dainty one and Dart is the rambunctious one.  We would absolutely love to be adopted together.  I am always looking for him and he looks out for m.  I am great with all the 4 legged creatures here and I love my foster mom!  She took such good care of me when I was abandoned as a tiny baby.   To be considered for my forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Dart is actually in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
Gabby's Personality Gabby is a beautiful tabby/calico girl with a blend of stripes and patches of color. She is an exceptionally friendly and outgoing kitty who settles into a new home easily and greets you at the door when you return home. She is curious and a little mischievous...if you can't find her, check your closets to see if she has sneaked inside, seemingly waiting for you to come and find her! Gabby loves, loves, loves hanging out with people. If you are working from home, she is usually playing or napping nearby. If you are sitting on the couch, Gabby likes to sit in your lap or next to you. At night, she often sleeps by your side...or sometimes decides to find a cozy spot elsewhere until you wake up in the morning. Then Gabby is there to greet you. This girl is also becoming more and more playful every day. She likes batting around plastic tops to containers and fluffy balls, and goes wild when you play with her with a feather on a stick or laser pointer. Daily play activity is important - so bring out the feather toy or laser pointer at least once a day for some good, vigorous playtime. Gabby can also be a little sassy under some circumstances. While she likes to be petted, she can get a little overstimulated and nip if you pet her too much. She may also nip if she wants to get your attention so its important to make sure Gabby has plenty playtime with people, a variety of toys to play with, and a kitty condo or perch in front of a window so she can watch activities outdoors. Type of Home Gabby Needs Gabby needs a home with caretakers who understand both her sweet and sassy sides. While she is not overly demanding, Gabby needs plenty of playtime and activity around her to keep her engaged. An adult couple would be ideal, but a home with an older cat-savvy child would be fine (over about 10 yrs of age). No young children now or in the future. We have not seen Gabby interact with dogs or other cats although we understand she did find sharing space with a couple of other cats at a shelter. Where Gabby Came From Gabby came into SPCA NOVA's care from a local shelter where she had been brought in as a stray kitty with a litter of kittens. All kittens had been adopted by the time she was transferred to SPCA's care.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
I had Gracie since June 2022. Gracie is a very affectionate young cat. It takes her awhile for her to get acquainted with someone. She loves being clean and demands a clean litter box. Pretty Liter is the prefered brand. She is not an outside cat and doesn't like loud noises. She prefers to sleep in a bed with you and not in on a cat bed. She has never eaten soft cat food, only dry. She is not spayed due to timing and a busy schedule, which is why she has never been outside. We are moving and unable to bring her with us.

Story
Pippa is a very affectionate cat who loves to be loved. She enjoys laps and lying in front of warm fire places or on heat vents. She is a nervous girl who does well with her companion cat, Beatrix, but has progressively become too stressed to appropriately handle the addition of a dog in our house, whom we have had for two years. She would do well with either being paired with Beatrix or as a solo cat with plenty of human company. She has so much love to give to the right family! We are happy to provide a pet carrier and litter box/litter if needed.

Story
In 2020 I was watching Cat for a friend due to a situation where they were unable to keep her. I ended up keeping cat for the next four years. Cat used to stay with my mom while I was in college. My mom had another cat who used to bully Cat, so she’s a bit shy. Cat enjoys hugs and cuddles. She’s a lover and would want your attention a lot. While at my mom’s house, they never played with her. Meaning Cat rarely plays with toys. You would have to reintroduce her to it and work with her on how to be playful if you would like. She does t bite or scratch. Cat is a lover not a fighter. She’s really a lazy cat. All she does is eat poop and sleep. She sometimes ignores people and would just lay there. Besides that she’s a great cuddle partner

Story
We chose to expand our kitty family in 2020, during the height of Covid. We rescued Cannoli when she was only around 5 weeks old from our cousin's farm. She is now 4 years old, and unfortunately at this time, our schedules have become too hectic to manage our kitty household. She loves to be around humans and has especially been gentle, patient, and kind to our toddler. She only loves pets on her terms and will let you know that belly rubs are a no-no (head and back preferred). We would love to find a loving family to adopt our girl, love her, and care for her. She would best thrive in a single-cat household and one that could afford her to sunbathe on a deck (she stays within the confines of the deck parameters).

Story
I rescued Pru in June 2020 when she was five weeks old. She had been kicked out of her litter and was being beaten up by male cats in a rural part of North Carolina. The friend who found her knew I had just rescued another kitten, and he thought they would make good companions. He was right--Pru (brown tabby) and Squeak (cow cat) were instantly the best of friends and are now bonded for life. Pru is the sweetest girl. She takes a day to warm up to people, but once she is comfortable, she is the biggest lap-cat and just wants to be near you. She is happiest when she is cuddling and grooming Squeak--or cuddling and grooming you! She loves a good feather toy or laser chase, but she can't jump very high. (We think it's because she has a bob-tail.)S Pru is microchipped, fully vaccinated, and spayed. She must be adopted with Squeak. They come with all accessories--carriers, scratch post, auto feeder, litter box, fountain, etc. I love them but am moving abroad and can't keep them.

Story
A friend found Squeak when she was a week old in May 2020, crying and soiled. He waited for the mom cat to return, but she never did. For weeks, I bottle-fed Squeak and was with her almost 24/7. I was the first person she saw when she opened her eyes. I rescued another kitten, Pru, from a bad situation, and they became best friends. They played together as kittens all day, and even now, they still scamper around chasing each other and are always cuddling and grooming one another. Squeak is one of the most outgoing and affectionate cats you'll ever meet. She is very vocal and loves to chat; she will greet you at the door when you come home. She is always down to be pet and held. She is very active and loves to chase toys and jump onto the platform of her scratch post. Has all vaccinations; spayed; microchipped. Must be adopted with Pru. Neither has behavioral issues! I'm moving and can't keep them, much as I wish I could. They come with litter box, auto feeder, carriers, etc.
