Story
Gabby's Personality Gabby is a beautiful tabby/calico girl with a blend of stripes and patches of color. She is an exceptionally friendly and outgoing kitty who settles into a new home easily and greets you at the door when you return home. She is curious and a little mischievous...if you can't find her, check your closets to see if she has sneaked inside, seemingly waiting for you to come and find her! Gabby loves, loves, loves hanging out with people. If you are working from home, she is usually playing or napping nearby. If you are sitting on the couch, Gabby likes to sit in your lap or next to you. At night, she often sleeps by your side...or sometimes decides to find a cozy spot elsewhere until you wake up in the morning. Then Gabby is there to greet you. This girl is also becoming more and more playful every day. She likes batting around plastic tops to containers and fluffy balls, and goes wild when you play with her with a feather on a stick or laser pointer. Daily play activity is important - so bring out the feather toy or laser pointer at least once a day for some good, vigorous playtime. Gabby can also be a little sassy under some circumstances. While she likes to be petted, she can get a little overstimulated and nip if you pet her too much. She may also nip if she wants to get your attention so its important to make sure Gabby has plenty playtime with people, a variety of toys to play with, and a kitty condo or perch in front of a window so she can watch activities outdoors. Type of Home Gabby Needs Gabby needs a home with caretakers who understand both her sweet and sassy sides. While she is not overly demanding, Gabby needs plenty of playtime and activity around her to keep her engaged. An adult couple would be ideal, but a home with an older cat-savvy child would be fine (over about 10 yrs of age). No young children now or in the future. We have not seen Gabby interact with dogs or other cats although we understand she did find sharing space with a couple of other cats at a shelter. Where Gabby Came From Gabby came into SPCA NOVA's care from a local shelter where she had been brought in as a stray kitty with a litter of kittens. All kittens had been adopted by the time she was transferred to SPCA's care.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Please see our adoption guidelines at  https://spcanova.org/about-us/adoption-policies/. April 24, 2024, 12:21 am

Story
Lily is a beautiful cat, but she’s very scared by sudden noises. We are rehoming her due to unfortunate circumstances of the previous owner moving out and not wanting to take her and she doesn’t get along with our other two cats that are male (nurtured) cats. She’s very loving to people and likes to be petted. She’s never been around a dog so therefore I don’t know if she would get along with a dog. She has been an indoor cat her whole life and is spayed. She needs her current vaccines which will be done before going to her new forever home. Lily will be 4 years old in May. I will provide a month of her current cat food and litter for anyone who wants to adopt her.

Story
We chose to expand our kitty family in 2020, during the height of Covid. We rescued Cannoli when she was only around 5 weeks old from our cousin's farm. She is now 4 years old, and unfortunately at this time, our schedules have become too hectic to manage our kitty household. She loves to be around humans and has especially been gentle, patient, and kind to our toddler. She only loves pets on her terms and will let you know that belly rubs are a no-no (head and back preferred). We would love to find a loving family to adopt our girl, love her, and care for her. She would best thrive in a single-cat household and one that could afford her to sunbathe on a deck (she stays within the confines of the deck parameters).

Story
Pippa is a very affectionate cat who loves to be loved. She enjoys laps and lying in front of warm fire places or on heat vents. She is a nervous girl who does well with her companion cat, Beatrix, but has progressively become too stressed to appropriately handle the addition of a dog in our house, whom we have had for two years. She would do well with either being paired with Beatrix or as a solo cat with plenty of human company. She has so much love to give to the right family! We are happy to provide a pet carrier and litter box/litter if needed.

Story
Hi my name is Harley.  I am a very sweet girl.  It takes me a little while to trust you but I am loving little thing from the very start,  I am a dainty girl and I don't like to be treated rough at all.  I stay our of the fray when the boys are playing.  I am usually on the sidelines watching or playing with Dart.  While we have totally different personalities.  I am the dainty one and Dart is the rambunctious one.  We would absolutely love to be adopted together.  I am always looking for him and he looks out for m.  I am great with all the 4 legged creatures here and I love my foster mom!  She took such good care of me when I was abandoned as a tiny baby.   To be considered for my forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Dart is actually in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
Vena is a queen cat ready to rule over your house! She has a big personality and wants to be the only cat in the house so she can have all the space and attention to herself.  It may take her some time to get comfortable and settled in a new home, but she’ll own the place quickly enough. She is incredibly curious about her environment and will explore every nook and cranny possible to get a lay of her land; especially from somewhere up high! Vena loves to play with her favorite toys string-based wand toys do the trick! She's not a cuddle bug by any means but enjoys pets and will happily hang out right beside you - all on her terms of course! Wait until you hear her motor of a purr that just keeps on going! It doesn't take much to keep Vena happy; enjoy her company, keep up with those chin scratches, and provide her with a window with a great view and she’ll make a great companion.      If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. Story
Hi, my name is Kylie! If you are looking for a super chill cat, look no further. In my 9 years I have learned comfort is key, if you give me a blanket, pillow, or a couch I will sleep in the same spot for up to 5 hours at a time. My favorite thing in the world is to be brushed, I can sit for 30 minutes while you brush my soft fur and make me beautiful. I don't make a lot of noise, and I don't know how to jump higher than the couch, I have not once stepped foot on a table or countertop.   Now that you know the highlights, I do have some medical information to share. I am FIV + but I can be in a home with other cats. Right now I live with 7 (!!) other kitties, my foster mom loves to foster! I am fine to be near them and even sniff a little bit, but sometimes kittens are just too much energy for me. Also, I am a diabetic kitty. My foster mom gives me insulin injections twice a day, but it is the easiest thing to do! I never run away or get upset, usually I even purr while I receive my injection!   I have been with my foster family for 18 months, it's so much better than being cooped up, enjoying a nice big home with blankets galore! I do think I would prefer to be an only kitty, or maybe live with another older cat or two, I am pretty easy going.    Don't let my medical needs scare you off, I am a lover and will love you unconditionally forever!
