Story
Hi my name is Harley.  I am a very sweet girl.  It takes me a little while to trust you but I am loving little thing from the very start,  I am a dainty girl and I don't like to be treated rough at all.  I stay our of the fray when the boys are playing.  I am usually on the sidelines watching or playing with Dart.  While we have totally different personalities.  I am the dainty one and Dart is the rambunctious one.  We would absolutely love to be adopted together.  I am always looking for him and he looks out for m.  I am great with all the 4 legged creatures here and I love my foster mom!  She took such good care of me when I was abandoned as a tiny baby.   To be considered for my forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Dart is actually in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)May 20, 2024, 9:16 am

Story
Ginger is an adorable female calico. She’s a very sweet, affectionate cat, although shy at first! She’s very cuddly, playful, and loves people. Ginger would thrive in a home where people can give her constant attention and affection. I have made the difficult decision to rehome her because she unfortunately does not get along with our dog who is a timid rescue. Ginger acts like a kitten despite being an older cat. She does have a thyroid condition that requires her to have medication in her food twice a day. She has a wonderful personality and I know she would be a great addition to any household. She gets along well with other cats, but I am unsure about whether she gets along with other dogs. Her interactions with my dog could be an exception.

Story
Gabby's Personality Gabby is a beautiful tabby/calico girl with a blend of stripes and patches of color. She is an exceptionally friendly and outgoing kitty who settles into a new home easily and greets you at the door when you return home. She is curious and a little mischievous...if you can't find her, check your closets to see if she has sneaked inside, seemingly waiting for you to come and find her! Gabby loves, loves, loves hanging out with people. If you are working from home, she is usually playing or napping nearby. If you are sitting on the couch, Gabby likes to sit in your lap or next to you. At night, she often sleeps by your side...or sometimes decides to find a cozy spot elsewhere until you wake up in the morning. Then Gabby is there to greet you. This girl is also becoming more and more playful every day. She likes batting around plastic tops to containers and fluffy balls, and goes wild when you play with her with a feather on a stick or laser pointer. Daily play activity is important - so bring out the feather toy or laser pointer at least once a day for some good, vigorous playtime. Gabby can also be a little sassy under some circumstances. While she likes to be petted, she can get a little overstimulated and nip if you pet her too much. She may also nip if she wants to get your attention so its important to make sure Gabby has plenty playtime with people, a variety of toys to play with, and a kitty condo or perch in front of a window so she can watch activities outdoors. Type of Home Gabby Needs Gabby needs a home with experienced cat caretakers who understand both her sweet and sassy sides. While she is not overly demanding, Gabby needs plenty of playtime and activity around her to keep her engaged. A single-person home will not give her enough stimulation that she needs. An adult couple would be ideal, but a home with an older cat-savvy child would be fine (over about 10 yrs of age). No young children now or in the future. We think she would also do best with a female kitty companion - one that shares her need for stimulation and play-time.  We will be posting a six month old female calico named Lucy soon who may be a perfect companion for Gabby if you don't already have a young, playful female kitty in your home. Where Gabby Came From Gabby came into SPCA NOVA's care from a local shelter where she had been brought in as a stray kitty with a litter of kittens. All kittens had been adopted by the time she was transferred to SPCA's care.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Lucy's Personality Lucy is a charming calico kitten with a great personality. She is easy-going, quick to purr, and incredibly sweet and social. Lucy always wants to be with people. If her foster parents are sitting, she is either playing nearby, or adjusting herself to find the most comfortable position to curl up near or on them. If they are propped up in bed reading, her favorite thing is when they bend their knees under the covers, creating a “tent” she can crawl into. If they are sleeping, she is inevitably right there on top of the bed too. If she is not sure where the people are, she calls out and comes running when she hears her name. Lucy is playful without being aggressive. Her favorite games are running and chasing. She loves to follow a laser pointer, chase a ball around the house, and go dashing through a crinkly cat tunnel. She also likes to play with pens and pencils and hides them under the edges of rugs. She’s definitely still a kitten, and needs to be reminded not to jump on counters or scratch the rug. But she’s also good at using a scratching pad, and often the reason for getting on the counter is to knock down a pen - so hiding the pens or pencils where she can find them deters her from jumping on counters. Lucy is very curious and never met a small space or open door she didn’t want to enter. She enjoys hiding in bags, boxes and cubby holes, but given her social nature, she never hides for too long. She has been known to jump into the shower after the water has been turned off, crawl behind the trash bins when the drawer is pulled out and climb into the pantry when someone is getting a snack. So it is always important to know where Lucy is before you close a door! Type of Home Lucy Needs Lucy needs an active home with more than one person AND a young female cat to bond and play with. She is an inquisitive girl who thrives on activity. She hasn't been exposed to children or dogs but would likely do fine with both. Where Lucy Came From Lucy came into our care after a kind person rescued her and her siblings from a hoarding situation when she was a younger kitten. Lucy was friendly and social from the start so although her beginnings were not ideal, she was clearly socialized from an early age.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
Sunny 6475 is a gorgeous 11-years-young gal. Sunny is a very affectionate cat who hasn't gotten enough attention lately. She appears very shy at first but becomes very fond of people once she gets used to them. She likes head scratches and chin rubs, being brushed regularly, baby soft blankets, and having a throne where she will watch Wheel of Fortune/Jeopardy/any news broadcasts at night with you until she falls asleep (another favorite activity). Sunny dislikes loud noises aimed at her and being moved without her permission; she is a queen after all! Time would need to be dedicated before she lets anyone pick her up and she is not used to other cats so having her own space is important. Sunny would love to end up with someone who can give her the time and attention that she has been missing. She has been in the same home since she was a kitten. She grew up with two boys who were around 9 years old at the time of her adoption. Due to circumstances, not of her own doing, she needs to find a new accommodation. She just got a clean bill of health from the vet. Like all Last Chance kitties, she is strictly indoors and has been indoors her entire life. She is a typical calico gal; she loves on her terms! Her ideal home, now that she is more mature, is quiet and low traffic. She is seeking an adopter looking to share space with a beautiful gal. Sunny weighs 12 pounds. She is currently being fostered in northern Virginia. Meet and greets may be set up with approved applicants. Submit your application https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/CAT-Adoption-Request-Form-1.pdf to dogs@lastchanceanimalrescue.org with the subject line Sunny the cat.

Story
Hello, I’m looking for a new home for my loving friendly tabby name Milo. He is very self-sufficient and clean . He knows how to do tricks such as sit and spend he’s a very fast learner and can be very sweet once he warms up to you. He doesn’t really like to be picked up but will definitely sit in your lap while you pet him and also will kneed on your stomach. This is very hard for me to give away such a wonderful cat, but due to my current living circumstances, I can’t provide for him. The best life would like to find someone who was willing to pour as much love as I have into him.

Story
I've had Midnight since she was a kitten. It was her and her brother. Unfortunately, they was born in the shelter and he had PIV. He passed six months after I first got them. She has always been very skittish. Takes a while for her to open up. She does not like to be picked up. Midnight is a very vocal girl. She will meow for attention and to play or eat.She loves playing with anything on a fishing rod. Lately, I've noticed she isn't playing with her toys as much. I think she wants a friend. She gets along with other cats. My friends brings her cats by for play dates sometimes. She has a lot of energy to be three. I think she has asthma and I can't afford to even get the X-rays done just so they can give her the medicine. I don't know what else to do but I hate seeing her get an attack and its nothing I can do about it. Shes up to date on all her other shots. I just can't afford the care she needs.
