Story
In 2020 I was watching Cat for a friend due to a situation where they were unable to keep her. I ended up keeping cat for the next four years. Cat used to stay with my mom while I was in college. My mom had another cat who used to bully Cat, so she’s a bit shy. Cat enjoys hugs and cuddles. She’s a lover and would want your attention a lot. While at my mom’s house, they never played with her. Meaning Cat rarely plays with toys. You would have to reintroduce her to it and work with her on how to be playful if you would like. She does t bite or scratch. Cat is a lover not a fighter. She’s really a lazy cat. All she does is eat poop and sleep. She sometimes ignores people and would just lay there. Besides that she’s a great cuddle partner

Story
Gabby's Personality Gabby is a beautiful tabby/calico girl with a blend of stripes and patches of color. She is an exceptionally friendly and outgoing kitty who settles into a new home easily and greets you at the door when you return home. She is curious and a little mischievous...if you can't find her, check your closets to see if she has sneaked inside, seemingly waiting for you to come and find her! Gabby loves, loves, loves hanging out with people. If you are working from home, she is usually playing or napping nearby. If you are sitting on the couch, Gabby likes to sit in your lap or next to you. At night, she often sleeps by your side...or sometimes decides to find a cozy spot elsewhere until you wake up in the morning. Then Gabby is there to greet you. This girl is also becoming more and more playful every day. She likes batting around plastic tops to containers and fluffy balls, and goes wild when you play with her with a feather on a stick or laser pointer. Daily play activity is important - so bring out the feather toy or laser pointer at least once a day for some good, vigorous playtime. Gabby can also be a little sassy under some circumstances. While she likes to be petted, she can get a little overstimulated and nip if you pet her too much. She may also nip if she wants to get your attention so its important to make sure Gabby has plenty playtime with people, a variety of toys to play with, and a kitty condo or perch in front of a window so she can watch activities outdoors. Type of Home Gabby Needs Gabby needs a home with caretakers who understand both her sweet and sassy sides. While she is not overly demanding, Gabby needs plenty of playtime and activity around her to keep her engaged. An adult couple would be ideal, but a home with an older cat-savvy child would be fine (over about 10 yrs of age). No young children now or in the future. We have not seen Gabby interact with dogs or other cats although we understand she did find sharing space with a couple of other cats at a shelter. Where Gabby Came From Gabby came into SPCA NOVA's care from a local shelter where she had been brought in as a stray kitty with a litter of kittens. All kittens had been adopted by the time she was transferred to SPCA's care.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
We chose to expand our kitty family in 2020, during the height of Covid. We rescued Cannoli when she was only around 5 weeks old from our cousin's farm. She is now 4 years old, and unfortunately at this time, our schedules have become too hectic to manage our kitty household. She loves to be around humans and has especially been gentle, patient, and kind to our toddler. She only loves pets on her terms and will let you know that belly rubs are a no-no (head and back preferred). We would love to find a loving family to adopt our girl, love her, and care for her. She would best thrive in a single-cat household and one that could afford her to sunbathe on a deck (she stays within the confines of the deck parameters).

Story
Ginger is an adorable female calico. She’s a very sweet, affectionate cat, although shy at first! She’s very cuddly, playful, and loves people. Ginger would thrive in a home where people can give her constant attention and affection. I have made the difficult decision to rehome her because she unfortunately does not get along with our dog who is a timid rescue. Ginger acts like a kitten despite being an older cat. She does have a thyroid condition that requires her to have medication in her food twice a day. She has a wonderful personality and I know she would be a great addition to any household. She gets along well with other cats, but I am unsure about whether she gets along with other dogs. Her interactions with my dog could be an exception.

Story
Hi my name is Harley.  I am a very sweet girl.  It takes me a little while to trust you but I am loving little thing from the very start,  I am a dainty girl and I don't like to be treated rough at all.  I stay our of the fray when the boys are playing.  I am usually on the sidelines watching or playing with Dart.  While we have totally different personalities.  I am the dainty one and Dart is the rambunctious one.  We would absolutely love to be adopted together.  I am always looking for him and he looks out for m.  I am great with all the 4 legged creatures here and I love my foster mom!  She took such good care of me when I was abandoned as a tiny baby.   To be considered for my forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Dart is actually in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)May 10, 2024, 9:46 pm

Story
Sunny 6475 is a gorgeous 11-years-young gal. Sunny is a very affectionate cat who hasn't gotten enough attention lately. She appears very shy at first but becomes very fond of people once she gets used to them. She likes head scratches and chin rubs, being brushed regularly, baby soft blankets, and having a throne where she will watch Wheel of Fortune/Jeopardy/any news broadcasts at night with you until she falls asleep (another favorite activity). Sunny dislikes loud noises aimed at her and being moved without her permission; she is a queen after all! Time would need to be dedicated before she lets anyone pick her up and she is not used to other cats so having her own space is important. Sunny would love to end up with someone who can give her the time and attention that she has been missing. She has been in the same home since she was a kitten. She grew up with two boys who were around 9 years old at the time of her adoption. Due to circumstances, not of her own doing, she needs to find a new accommodation. She just got a clean bill of health from the vet. Like all Last Chance kitties, she is strictly indoors and has been indoors her entire life. She is a typical calico gal; she loves on her terms! Her ideal home, now that she is more mature, is quiet and low traffic. She is seeking an adopter looking to share space with a beautiful gal. Sunny weighs 12 pounds. She is currently being fostered in northern Virginia. Meet and greets may be set up with approved applicants. Submit your application https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/CAT-Adoption-Request-Form-1.pdf to dogs@lastchanceanimalrescue.org with the subject line Sunny the cat.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, my name is Paola and I'm now at KSC after acclimating in a lovely foster home.  I was in an outdoor community of cats and a kind woman was making sure we had enough to eat.  Then it got pretty cold and she was worried about me in particular because I'm a small girl.  Since I spent most of my life fending for myself, I'm a bit cautious.  I did let my former caregiver pet me and my new foster mom would wrap me in a towel and cuddle me which was nice - it made me purr and I even 'made biscuits'.  I would sit next to my foster while she worked and I am making progress with humans - starting to learn that most are safe and kind.  Still, I'm a shy girl so I will need a forever home where my person(s) will go slowly with me.  I can't wait to have a place to call my own and a family to love me.  Oh, also, I think I would prefer a home without children or dogs that might scare me.  I do get along with other kitties, so a friendly pal might be nice.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. May 9, 2024, 9:18 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, my name is Lucky Philip.  I had been feeding outside at a kind ladies house for several months but when she suddenly passed away I had no food source.  I ended up at a local shelter where luckily for me the folks at KSC decided to help me.  I'm a friendly, laid back guy who loves human attention.  After a trip to the vet and a substantial dental I'm ready now for a quiet home inside where I can be your only pet and the center of attention.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. May 9, 2024, 9:18 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, my name is Barney and I was temporarily living at a barn (hence my name!) but I couldn't stay there so the kind people at KSC took me in.  I'm a lovable, playful boy… I love getting petted and chasing wand toys. I’m fine being an only kitty or would be happy with a low key not alpha feline buddy! I definitel prefer no young noisy kids or dogs around me.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. May 9, 2024, 9:18 pm
