**NEW NOTES & VIDEO 3/14**
Ragtime ACCT-A-243684 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Ragtime must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18TH at 10AM. Should Ragtime's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Ragtime arrived at ACCT Philly as a stray after a community member brought her in for help. At intake she was noted to be scared but friendly, and she was suffering from a severely injured right eye that had to be removed. Despite the pain she was experiencing, Ragtime remained gentle and cooperative with staff, showing her sweet nature even during medical handling.
Ragtime has proven to be an affectionate, people-oriented dog who loves attention and companionship. Staff and volunteers consistently describe her as wiggly, friendly, and eager for interaction. She enjoys playing fetch, seeking out pets, and keeping close to her handler when out in the yard. Even while adjusting to life with one eye and navigating with a cone during recovery, Ragtime has remained a good sport—chasing tennis balls, wagging her little nub tail, and happily greeting people.
Ragtime has also shown polite social skills with other dogs. In dog meets she presented with soft eyes, loose body language, and friendly curiosity, allowing other dogs to approach her first. On walks she can pull strongly towards other dogs, but she maintains a loose body and an interested demeanor. Overall, Ragtime is described as a medium-energy, affectionate “big lap dog” who loves treats, pets, and playtime. She can be a bit jumpy at times, so a home without young children would be ideal. She has already shown resilience and adaptability after losing her eye, and with the surgical site now healed, she continues to approach the world with enthusiasm and trust. Due to her length of stay, Ragtime is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter.

BEHAVIOR:
**NEW** Playgroup 3/14: Semi steerable with water and shake can. Uneventful, relaxed fence meet with Giuseppe. Once Giuseppe entered the yard, it took some time for both of them to greet each other. Ragtime was focused on handlers near the gate. Almost as soon as they greeted, Ragtime tipped into growls & snaps. Giuseppe initially did not retaliate and she had the opportunity to deescalate. However, after a slip and tumble, Ragtime returned to growling and snapping at Giuseppe. They were steered off each other with pet corrector & air horn and separated, and Ragtime was removed from the yard.
Per staff 3/12:
Kennel Presentation: Looking out the back part of her kennel. Made a kissy noise and she came over with a loose wiggly body, mid nub wagging, soft eyes and ears to the side.
Leash Skills: Tried pushing past the door in excitement. Pulled hard through the kennels towards other dogs' kennels. Outside pulled less until she saw another dog and began to pull hard. It was a little difficult to keep her going until she did not see the dog anymore.
Sociability: When I did some light petting she began to jump up on me. She's a big girl, I had to grab the leash and stiff arm for a few seconds. She takes treats gently.
Play: Chased after a tennis ball.
Dog Interaction: Saw another dog and pulled hard towards them with a loose body.
Return to Kennel: Walked right into the kennel and was able to remove leash with hand.
Color Level: Blue
Per volunteer 3/11: Medium energy. Sweet, big lap dog.
Per volunteer 3/10: Medium energy. She was great. She played in yard, loves pets + treats, had a good fence meet.
Per staff 3/7: Medium energy.
Per volunteer 3/6: Medium energy. Pulls towards other dogs. Hard for her due to 1 eye and cone.
Per volunteer 3/3: Low-medium energy. Sweet girl, walks into things because of cone.
Per volunteer 2/28: Ragtime was a delight to have out in the yard. She chased after a tennis ball with her one eye and cone and brought it back. Sometimes she would lose track of it but was a good sport and found it fun. She liked to keep her one eye on her handler and would come running over if she felt there was too much distance apart. She was friendly through the fence with people and would wag her nubby tail. She bonked into many things with her cone and one eye. A very sweet, affectionate girl pal to have around.
Per staff 2/25: Dog meet notes: Soft eyes, ears to the side, mouth closed, nub mid level wagging. Loose and wiggly with both Cane & Laroo. Allowed both dogs come up to her first and did not push further interaction with Cane when he stayed near his handler.
Per staff 2/25: Low energy. Good meet w/ Laroo. Calm, bumped into things, had to help lift into kennel.
Per staff 2/24: Came into exam room wiggly, with loose body. Very friendly girl who seeks out attention, leans body into you. Generally allowed all handling and examination aside from staying still to allow for full ocular exam of her painful right eye. Did not show any signs of aggression despite the pain, but turned away.
Per finder 2/22: Good around strangers, don't know around animals, good around children. Walked on leash. Scared, dog seems to be good.
