Story
Though shy at first, Belmont warms up with patience and a little cheesel He knows sit, paw, and down, takes treats gently, and even rolls over for belly rubs once he feels safe.
Belmont walks with some strength on leash and can be nervous around unfamiliar people or loud noises, but he’s made great progress with gentle handlers who take the time to earn his trust. Once comfortable, he’s playful, affectionate, and just wants to be close.
This handsome guy is looking for a calm, understanding home where he can feel secure and loved.

BEHAVIOR
04/29/2025 medical staff notes: Unable to administer vax & chip due to behavior. Pt was not being aggressive but was giving tense body language and being flighty when touched. Started on Gaba.

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Belmont was in his crate with wide scared eyes and was laying down when i approached. I opened the kennel door slightly and he began doing some wags for me. I know he loves cheese so I brought cheese cubes and he took them very gently from me. I heard he was reactive to the leash so I used the cheese and put it through the loop. Once secured he came right out.

HANDLING :
Belmont was a big cuddle bug for me but was weary of the other handler (double leashed due to how strong he was). He knows to sit, paw and down and takes treats very nicely. He allowed me to check his ears and belly as he rolled on his back submissively. He is a big scared boy that was frightened by any other movement besides myself, near and around him. Other noises that were “too close” he would jump up for. Although he was nervous, he was not as fearful as I have heard from other people but I also have been giving him treats often and checking up on him through the days he's been here. He was mouthy once comfortable and would nibble (a little hard but was redirected easily) on my hands, the leash and my shoes. He just wanted to play and was very sweet about it.
PLAY:
Interest – a little nervous to run around
TOYS:
Thought everything was a toy around him. He lightly nibbled on the leash and my shoes but likes to keep hands in his mouth
