Story
Meet Goem, a sweet older boy who was surrendered to the shelter by family after his owner passed away. Goem is estimated to be around 7 years old and is understandably down in the shelter, but really peps up when in the presence of people and dog pals!
Goem is really hoping to leave the shelter soon to find a safe place to live out his golden years. He's available for adoption and foster at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm! Interested fosters should email foster@acctphilly.org.

Behavior:
Per Volunteer 5/11/25: He greeted me with a calm, loose body and allowed leashing very easily. He’s amazing on leash without any pulling even though he’s a very big boy. Outside in the yard he is clearly very sick so was just standing by my side taking pets and very low energy. He didn’t take any treats from me, but did sniff them out. Poor guy looking for comfort
Behavior Eval 5/7/25:
I approached the kennel and he remained laying down, I called his name and showed him the leash and he came to the front and was easy to loop. He pulled moderately to the outside and once outside he walked on a loose leash.
He was tolerant of all body handling, maintaining a middle tail, wagging, ears to the side, gentle pant, and soft eyes.
After he went potty, he solicited attention from me, approaching me with ears, back soft eyes and middle wagging tail, and took treats gently.
We passed by a small dog in the parking lot and he was unfazed, looking at the dog, then quickly looking away and continuing to walk.
He was easy to return to kennel and remove the leash.
Gold
Play group 5/3/25: Steerable. Mix of Gentle & Dainty and Rough & Rowdy playstyle. Initiates play with other dogs with playbows. Half-heartedly attempted to mount dogs but would quickly switch to play. Overall calm and easy going. Offered appropriate vocal correction to dogs when he was tired and no longer wanted to play/interact with dogs.
