Story
Meet Rocky! Howdy good friends, my name is Rocky! I'm just a little guy and only weigh 10 pounds as a senior. I'm the sweetest toot you'll ever meet. I get along with dogs my size, but I'm a bit intimidated by the bigger dogs, and puppies are a bit too much for me. I'd like my dog friends to be more of my speed. But I would also do fine with no other dogs in my new home, you know, so I can get all the attention and pets! I would do fine with respectful kids, too, not ones who are too rowdy. I also do well with cats, taking naps with them throughout the day. I'm a good boy and use potty pads if I have to go potty, but I'm sure learning to go outside to do my business would be fairly easy. I just want to make my humans happy. I do really well being left alone, and I'm not destructive in any way. But if you want to take me with you wherever you go, I do really love car rides, and meeting new people isn't scary to me in the least. I enjoy a good snacky, so a pup cup would be right up my alley! My most favorite thing is just to be by my humans. In true Chihuahua fashion, I'll vocalize when you leave me, and I'll let you know when I hear an unfamiliar noise, so apartment living wouldn't be ideal for me. Are you looking for a cute little lap dog that you can take with you everywhere? Then I'm the guy for you! Story
Meet Reed! How do you do? My name is Reed! You might think I look a little silly with little to no hair, and believe it or not, I don't have a single hairless breed in my DNA (even though I was found close to a place with lots of hairless breeds)! As an adult dog I found myself in rescue and my DNA tested to see if this was my norm, but it's not. Well, it's my norm now, so if my skin gets too sticky, I get a special bath. And about once a week or every other week I need some other stuff done for my skin so I don't get a fungal infection, but it's super simple. I'm 25 pounds and easy to pick up to do what you need to, and I'm fairly tolerant of getting the things done. I'm also good with other dogs given a bit of time to get used to them. I'm very good about giving the proper signals when I'm uncomfortable with something, and since I'm 36% Chihuahua, I don't mind saying when I don't want to do something, or telling the dogs or cats in my foster home they are too close to my space if I don't want them to be. I'm completely housebroken, with not a single accident in the house, and I really enjoy spending time in the fenced yard sniffing and running til my heart is content. I have some kids here, but they are a bit older and respectful and I do well with them. The human mom says if I stay too long they'll probably want to keep me because I'm so easy to love! I'm doing super great on a leash now, unless im super resistantto go someplace, but thats not often. I really enjoy car rides and would make a perfect road trip partner! I get a little sad when my humans leave, so I may be a bit vocal, thus apartment living probably isn't for me. I'm not destructive when you leave, so a crate isn't necessary, which is great since I'm not really a fan of them anyway. I'd love a forever home that has another dog for me to play with and keep me company, and some humans who will love my naked self and always make sure my skin is healthy! Story
Meet Bella! Hey, y'all, my name is Bella, and I'm a golden oldie! I will keep you laughing day and night with the huge snores and snorts from my little body. Speaking of my little body, I am actually a little chunky for my tiny frame, at almost 13 pounds. But I am on a diet and will have my girlish figure back in no time. Oh, and boy, am I cute. Everyone who meets me says, "Awwww." My foster mom calls me the little burrito. I came from a loving home, but my owner died, and now I am looking for someone to share my retirement years with. I am highly experienced in cuddling, I like everyone, I like car rides, and I don't bark. I was an indoor dog and was trained on peeped pads, but now I am also learning about grass and going potty outside. I haven't been around many children but I liked the ones I met next door. I went over and introduced myself when they were eating Cheetos in the yard. I am fine with the dogs I have met but not really interested in them. I would rather be around humans who will pet me, nap with me, and, most of all, cuddle. If you think I might fit right into your life, maybe I can go home with you! Story
Meet Tango! Have you ever wanted a tiny dog disguised as a baby fox wearing a bow tie?? That’s me, Tango! I was rescued from a hoarding situation down south, but despite that, I’m pretty healthy and friendly to people. I was a shy guy for the first few days in my foster home (given my tiny size, all of 6 pounds, I was often found hiding behind the couch at first), but my foster parents see me coming out of my shell little by little every day. If you give me a little time to adjust, I’ll be your best friend! My foster mom says I’ll probably end up being a little dog with a big personality once I get fully adjusted. Despite being a bit shy, I love to be held and pet, and the little human in the house says I’m soooooo soft! I also get along with the other dogs in the house and try to engage them in play (so far, they are pretty boring!). I'm fully house trained and will even use a potty pad if needed, and I don’t mind going into my crate for a little siesta (and I sleep in my crate at night without a peep). One of my favorite things to do is going for walks outside! Well, actually, being outside in general is fabulous! I'm a younger adult but I’ve already had most of my teeth removed. Foster mom says I must have eaten too much candy as a puppy, but it’s no big deal – I can eat kibble just fine and little dogs like me often need their teeth removed at some point anyway. I don’t have any known health issues. I’m a sweet little guy, and I'd love to call your home my forever home! Story
Meet Chiquita! Hey everyone, my name is Chiquita, like the fruit company but not. My name means "little gift" in Spanish, and as a senior, and just 9 pounds, a little gift is what you will get with me! One of my favorite things is following my people around, always wanting to be near them. I was rescued from a hoarding situation, so one would typically think that I might be a bit shy or scared, but I'm really not. I love all humans, even the little one in my foster home, and though I'm fine with other dogs, I likely won't engage in play with them. I'm pretty solid on my potty training, and I walk well on a leash, so there's no need to have a fenced-in yard. I sleep in my crate at night here, which I really don't mind as I think my crate is a fine place to relax! Now that I'm a lady of a certain age, my body is showing that I'm getting older. My teeth are just a little crummy, which happens with small dogs like me at my age, so I'm having my teeth cleaned soon, and my heart has a little murmur that shouldn't cause any concern per the vet. And then there's my floating knees, which is actually pretty normal for my breed and age, but I get around just fine! So, really, no real major concerns! Foster mom says I'm quiet as a mouse and never make a peep, enjoy sniffing in the yard, and sleeping in soft, cushy dog beds! I'm a sweet little love bug just looking for my forever home where someone needs just a "little gift" in their life! I hope to find that home soon. Story
Meet Rylee! Have you ever wanted a perfect little snuggle bug in your life? A shadow if you will. Well, my name is Rylee, and I am here to make those dreams come true! I'm a senior guy and just 11 tiny pounds. Perfect for sitting in my new human's lap for a good afternoon snooze under the afghan. You don't want me to sit on your lap? That's okay, too, just as long as I can sit next to you on the couch so I can be close. I get along great with other dogs and even cats! Actually, I do well with chickens, too, so I could even live on a farm. Or I could do well in an apartment because I'm quieter than a mouse! I could do well with older kiddos, but since I'm a bit shy and reserved, I'm not much of the playing type, so younger kiddos aren't really my jam. I'm a super good boy and do my pottying outside, but I can't go on long walks because my hip is a little painful when I do. Otherwise, I have minimal pain. I take some medicines (like a champ, I might add) for the non-convulsive seizures I have. What does that mean? Basically, I just stare off into space for a bit. Nothing super scary, and they are very much controlled with my meds! I'd really like for my new forever family to be home more often than not. Like, someone who is retired or works from home, so I can always be near them and shower them with my warmth and love! We could go out in the yard and sniff together for a while, too! I can't wait to do all the things with my new people. Hopefully it's with you! Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.
