Chibi belonged to a person with mental issues. When she was on her meds, she was fine. When she didn't take her meds, Chibi was alone and had to find food on her own.Sometimes she would eat something not edible, and once she ended up at the ER vet. The person was put in a facility because she couldn't take care of herself. Her friend took Chibi but didn't want to keep her, so they looked for a rescue. We took Chibi, and she is ready for a new forever home. This tiny girl would love to be in an adult home, sitting on the couch or in a lap, watching TV. She travels well and can fit anywhere.

Honey is a 2 year old Chiweenie Mix with a story that began in Apple Valley. She was found with her two boys, and after making sure they had a chance at a new beginning, it’s finally time for Honey to have one of her own. She’s good with kids and dogs and has the unmistakable Chiweenie look—part Chihuahua, part Dachshund, and completely her own. There’s something especially endearing about a little dog who has already had a big responsibility and is now getting the opportunity to simply enjoy being somebody’s companion. Honey doesn’t need a complicated pitch. She needs a person who sees her, chooses her, and gives her a place in their everyday life. If that person could be you, come meet Honey. We hold an event every weekend at our facility on SATURDAY and SUNDAY 11-5pm and open to the public. It is first come first serve we do not evaluate applications prior to an event. Three months ago, this sweet stray dog —now named Cleo— was sadly abandoned and found hiding in my driveway. She was exhausted, hungry, frightened, and in desperate need of help. After taking her to the vet, I learned that Cleo had a large hernia that made simple tasks incredibly difficult for her and required multiple surgeries. Meet Portia, she's a stunning little wirehaired chihuahua terrier mix, she is super cute, her face and underbite are just adorable. She is dog friendly and will play with the big dogs and wrestle with the small dogs. She definitely likes to be the boss but she is very sweet and easy to train. We rescued Portia after she was abandoned WHILE GIVING BIRTH to dead puppies at South LA Shelter. Even though her puppies died and she was in a good amount of pain, she managed to overcome so many obstacles to fully love humans and gets very excited when foster mom comes home from work. Imogene is the cutest and shyest dog in foster mom's home, she is figuring out that people are kind and loving and she is happy to lay on the couch and lounge around the house, she's also figured out she likes to go on walks with foster mom. She still remains shy and when you call her she doesn't come to you yet but she will allow you to pick her up and put her wherever you want her. She is delicate and quiet but blossoms with time and patience. Imogene is house trained and crate trained. She gets excited for food and walks. Imogene will need a secure fenced yard and be able to be secured so she doesn't run out the door when ppl are not paying attention. She will bond to her new people within weeks after she gets used to a new home. Foster mom has done extensive work with her on trust building and gentle training. She loves treats and is very food motivated. Imogene's ideal home is a patient adult home with retired couple, single or young married/single who works from home and has a gentle personality. Imogene likes dogs and her best friend in foster care is a Great Pyraneese giant female dog that she loves. She will play with little friendly dogs too. Hazel has been our baby for the past 12 years. We got her when she was 10 weeks old and she's been the sweetest, easiest dog we could have imagined. She is a major cuddle bug and loves to lounge around the house and cuddled up next to us. When she's indoors, she's very calm but loves a good walk, fetch, and sunbathing on the balcony/patio. Hazel has been around older toddlers and young children and has been gentle and sweet. She has handled grabby hands and crying well but has only been exposed to our friends' and family's children for a few hours or days at a time. With dogs, Hazel is mostly calm but she is dog-reactive meaning that if another dog shows aggression towards her, she will react defensively. We have always avoided letting her spend time around other dogs out of an abundance of caution. We are looking to rehome for Hazel as we just had our first baby and we don't know what she'll be like with the baby. We would cover her expenses for one year to help with the transition.
