Chibi belonged to a person with mental issues. When she was on her meds, she was fine. When she didn't take her meds, Chibi was alone and had to find food on her own.Sometimes she would eat something not edible, and once she ended up at the ER vet. The person was put in a facility because she couldn't take care of herself. Her friend took Chibi but didn't want to keep her, so they looked for a rescue. We took Chibi, and she is ready for a new forever home. This tiny girl would love to be in an adult home, sitting on the couch or in a lap, watching TV. She travels well and can fit anywhere.

KARLA: Chiweenie Mix • Spayed Female • 2 Years Old • 17 lbs KARLA is a sweet, calm, and gentle little girl with a tender heart and a quiet way of showing how much she cares. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and is not a barker. She is affectionate, well-mannered, and crate-trained, making her an easy and loving companion. At first, Karla may seem a little independent, quietly taking in her surroundings and figuring out that she is finally safe. But as the day goes on, her sweet personality begins to shine. She seeks out companionship, enjoys being close to her people, and loves receiving affection. Once she trusts you, she wants nothing more than to feel loved and know that she belongs. Karla’s story is heartbreaking. She and three other dogs were rescued from the CAC (Canine Care Center) when they were down to their final hours. We were told that a man had brought them there to be euthanized. Their lives were in danger, and they had no way of knowing that someone would come for them. Thankfully, a rescuer stepped in and gave Karla and the other dogs the second chance they desperately needed. Instead of her story ending in a shelter, Karla now has the opportunity to begin a new chapter—a chapter filled with kindness, safety, love, and a family of her own. Karla has already survived the hardest part. Now she is waiting for someone to show her that her life was worth saving. She deserves a forever home where she will never again have to wonder if she is wanted. Although she can be shy and reserved at first, she is not aggressive. She simply needs a little patience and understanding to feel comfortable with new people. Once she begins to feel safe, she will approach on her own to ask for gentle pets, quietly showing you that she is ready to trust. Beneath her reserved nature is a sweet girl who deserves the opportunity to feel secure and loved. Zoe gets along well with other dogs, is not destructive, and is crate trained. She would thrive in a patient, loving home where she can settle in at her own pace, build confidence, and learn that the world can be a kind and beautiful place. Zoe's story is heartbreaking. After her previous owner, a person experiencing homelessness, passed away, Zoe and her little friend were left without anyone willing to take responsibility for them. Through no fault of their own, these two innocent dogs were facing the terrifying possibility of being surrendered to the Canine and Feline Care Center (CAC) for euthanasia. When the rescuer learned of their desperate situation, they stepped in to save them and give them a second chance at life. Meet Portia, she's a stunning little wirehaired chihuahua terrier mix, she is super cute, her face and underbite are just adorable. She is dog friendly and will play with the big dogs and wrestle with the small dogs. She definitely likes to be the boss but she is very sweet and easy to train. We rescued Portia after she was abandoned WHILE GIVING BIRTH to dead puppies at South LA Shelter. Even though her puppies died and she was in a good amount of pain, she managed to overcome so many obstacles to fully love humans and gets very excited when foster mom comes home from work. Imogene is the cutest and shyest dog in foster mom's home, she is figuring out that people are kind and loving and she is happy to lay on the couch and lounge around the house, she's also figured out she likes to go on walks with foster mom. She still remains shy and when you call her she doesn't come to you yet but she will allow you to pick her up and put her wherever you want her. She is delicate and quiet but blossoms with time and patience. Imogene is house trained and crate trained. She gets excited for food and walks. Imogene will need a secure fenced yard and be able to be secured so she doesn't run out the door when ppl are not paying attention. She will bond to her new people within weeks after she gets used to a new home. Foster mom has done extensive work with her on trust building and gentle training. She loves treats and is very food motivated. Imogene's ideal home is a patient adult home with retired couple, single or young married/single who works from home and has a gentle personality. Imogene likes dogs and her best friend in foster care is a Great Pyraneese giant female dog that she loves. She will play with little friendly dogs too. Luna (9 yrs old) is a beautiful senior Chihuahua girl looking for the soft landing she deserves. Her story starts with a heartbreak: several people watched a car pull up to a park, put Luna out, and drive away. A Good Samaritan contacted one of our volunteers, who was able to catch her. We searched for an owner, but no one ever stepped up — she wasn't microchipped and she had no ID tag. Luna needed vet care right away: she had a large ulcerated mass on her tail. She has had her surgery, and she is so much more comfortable now. Luna is hard of hearing and has limited vision — but please don't let that fool you. She's smart as a whip: she mapped out her foster home in no time and gets around beautifully. She just needs a calm, patient home that will let her learn the layout at her own pace. Through it all, Luna has stayed exactly who she is — sweet, devoted, and loving. She is very well behaved, quiet, house trained, and dog friendly. She just wants a person to adore and a cozy spot right next to them. Luna is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped, and she has had her teeth cleaned. Luna is also on a healthy diet of nutritious food to help her reach a healthy weight — and she's doing great. Luna needs a foster OR a forever home within the next 2 weeks. She is in a temporary foster home, and her foster has to travel soon. Even fostering her for a little while would be a lifeline. Her ideal home is a calm home where she can be close to her person. Don't let "senior" fool you — small dogs often live into their late teens, so at (9 yrs old) Luna still has so much love left to give. She was thrown away once.
