Lance (M) Luke (M) and Lulu (F) 8 weeks old 5-7lbs Breed guess: Collie/Shepherd Mixes The L babies are the most darling, snuggly, precious puppies we've ever laid eyes on! They are so floofy and delightful with such innocent personalities. They are still itty bitty babies who are big sponges just waiting to learn all about life, love, and how to grow up to be awesome adult dogs! While we don't know the parents, we anticipate these puppies will grow into mid-to-larger breed adult dogs.

Story
Hi, I'm Gus! Thanks for checking me out! I know my cute face is hard to resist, but here's the scoop: I'll need a lot of your time and attention as I grow up into the amazing adult dog I'm destined to be! I'm looking for a forever family that will help me with socialization, training (yes, that includes house training!), and plenty of exercise. And let's not forget the chewing and teething-I'm still learning what's okay (and what's definitely not okay) to put in my mouth. So, be ready for some puppy-proofing! Don't forget those vet visits! I'll need to stay up to date on my boosters and vaccines, which means a few trips to see my favorite vet in the first few months. But trust me, all that effort will be worth it when you experience the endless love, puppy kisses, and pure joy I'll bring into your life. So, if you're up for the challenge and the fun, why not come meet me in person? Stop by during our adoption hours. For more details, email info@ahconnects.org or give us a call at 847-697-2880 x: 0. The friendly folks here will be happy to answer all your questions! Can't wait to meet you and start our adventure together! All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

These pups are in Wheeling, Illinois too!

Story
Splash is at our shelter. Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet her during open hours! Scroll through her pictures to see her cute videos! We are so happy that Splash is a Heartland dog, because her story could have turned out very differently. A friend of our rescue, who is also the owner of Doggie Do Rite daycare and boarding in Northbrook, was scrolling online one evening back in April when she saw a post where someone was selling Splash for $200. The comments had her fearing for this poor dog's safety, so she contacted the seller and arranged to "buy" Splash herself, to save her from an uncertain fate. Splash had never seen a vet, so she had no vaccine history, no chip, was not spayed, etc. Vetting a pup can cost hundreds of dollars at a private clinic, so we were happy to take Splash in to our program and see to her medical vetting while she was fostered at Doggie Do Rite. Splash is still a puppy, and a super smart one at that. (Have you scrolled to watch her video where she is training? She picked all of that up in less than one week!). Splash is highly food and treat motivated, and she will need an adopter committed to exercising not just her body but her brain, too! She is a cattle dog through and through. Cattle dogs were bred to herd, using their mouths, and Splash may use hers to herd her people! She needs to work on not expressing her excitement with her mouth, and impulse control, so we do feel she needs an adopter with some degree of familiarity with the breed or these particular traits. Splash may still have an accident from time to time, but she knows to go potty outside. However, she is not used to going potty while on a leash yet so needs a secured area where she can relieve herself off-leash while she learns. She is crate trained, and after she is well-exercised both physically and mentally, so she settles easily in her crate with a frozen Kong and keeps to herself or naps. Splash also loves other dogs, and is a dainty player with dogs! If adopting Splash sounds like the perfect way to "cannonball" into summer, please come in and inquire about her! Splash’s adoption fee is $450. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative. The adopter of this special dog is entitled to a training scholarship worth $250. We are not able to pay this upfront; rather, once you have attended classes or had in-home or virtual training sessions, you can send us an invoice or receipt and we will reimburse you via check up to $250. Please note: the trainer must be a positive reinforcement trainer!

Story
Alpha and Omega are at our shelter. Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet them during open hours! Scroll through each of their pictures to see their cute videos! Alpha and Omega have been here before. Back in 2022, they were young pups (then known as Zach and Cody!) who spent a few weeks at our shelter. Our staff loved them then, just as we do now! These boys were adopted into a nice home together, but sadly their adopter passed away suddenly and recently, and Alpha and Omega were left without a home. They wound up with Northbrook Animal Control, who thankfully traced their microchips back to us, and reached out. As you can see from their videos, the boys have adjusted very well to their new reality. They are a testament to the resilience of dogs! We are sure the transition has been easier because they have each other, just as they always have. Though littermates can have their share of issues when kept together for so long (you may have heard of "Littermate Syndrome"), these two are *such* well-adjusted and happy pups! While some bonded pairs of dogs can have an "us vs the world" mentality, these two are happy to socialize with all of the dogs and vacillate between co-existing and throwing play bows during play group, which is just so adorable to see! And of course, Alpha and Omega each have their own unique personalities! While we were not initially fans of these names (and some of us still call them Zach and Cody!), we can see why their adopter named them as such: Alpha is bigger in size and is the more independent and serious of the two, while Omega has that "I'm just happy to be here" energy and is always wagging, wiggling, joyful and smiling! Alpha doesn't beg for attention but he likes to come right beside you and present his hind quarters for scratching, which is his favorite thing! Omega has the fluffy, wavy coat of an un-sheared sheep and he loves pets and full body scratches! There are SO many great things about these two in particular, and about dogs their age in general! Alpha and Omega have been living in a home the last few years and that shows, by which we mean they are housebroken, not destructive, social, polite, well-mannered, and overall so easy-peasy! They were so good for their baths, nail trims, and vet exams. Best of all, these two walk GREAT on a leash together. Walking both of these boys is way easier than walking one of some our other dogs, ha. We love that they still have some playfulness, too. Not just with the other dogs, but with each other and especially with their stuffies! They love a new stuffy, and get so excited when we toss them a new one. They never rip them up, just carry them around and put them in their beds. We know that getting one larger dog adopted is a challenge these days, let alone two. And while we are not sure that they are totally bonded, meaning neither of them will panic if the other is out of sight, we feel we owe it to them for now to try to keep them together. We hope that someone is out there and willing to take on two amazing pups who are going to ease into their new lives so seamlessly. ***We are open to a foster or a foster to adopt arrangement for these boys! Anything to get them back in a home where they belong! Their adoption fee is $300. They are neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
